Exclusive: Ariz. Senator Tells Katie Couric Obama Does Not Understand Challenges The U.S. Faces In Iraq

Mrs. Couric, you have just lost all credibility as a "journalist" as well as a "News" anchor.
How will you explain this to your own children some day?
The Kucinich media assassination was to be expected by all your fellow corporate "news" outlets, but this?
Heil CBS!
I''ll bet O''Reilly is a little jealous tonight. - Reply to this comment
- CBS News / Katie Couric have both officially lost ALL credibility I had given them. I will NEVER watch another one of your newscasts. What''s next? photoshopping Obama or overdubbing his words in a video clip? This is NOT journalism, it''s propagandism. If a candidate for President doesn''t even know the facts on a subject he is supposed be an ''expert'' on it is up to the reporter / news organization to expose this, not cover it up.
I am insulted and ashamed of you. - Reply to this comment
- It is sad that Americans have to go the web to find out what the corporate media does not want us to know.
It should give Sen. McCain''s answer on live news. And his gaffe fair debate on the Sunday Talk shows.
After all he is the one touting his vast political and war knowledge. It is time to show the "real Sen. McCain" instead of the phony one he and the News Networks want to show.
Is it C.B.S. or the Fox News Channel? - Reply to this comment

- Iraq will be "stable" when Iraqis want and work for what THEY define as stability. We could not possibly have sent enough troops to babysit these religious nuts. CNN and CBS dutifully nodded in agreement that the surge worked. The Sunni and Shiite factions decided to stop killing each other coincidentally with the "surge".
Nothing we are doing in Iraq is making anyone safer; no one is benefiting but KBR and the corrupt Iraqis who are ripping us off.
Be very leery of anyone, Obama included, who thinks we have something to "win" in Afghanistan. We helped make the Taliban who they are. We supplied weapons, training and a lot of money. When Afghan men get tired of their wives and daughters being whacked with a rod when they wear the burkha wrong, they need to get the old AK off the wall and take these guys out. If they can''t take back their country, they will suffer for it.
Nothing but a long range, discreet, expertly run international special ops mission will take out Bin Laden. Our presence in Afghanistan will go the way of the Russians. We will decide we''ve had enough. We will not agree to a draft, and we will wear out the kids we have going back for 4 and 5 combat tours. - Reply to this comment
- thanks for the wacko DNC comments.. now when my wife says something it doesn''t sound so CRAZY..

- YOU CANNOT HAVE SUCCESS AGAINST MUSLIMS WHO BELIEVE & STUDY ISLAM. ISLAM IS IN DIRECT OPPOSITION TO DEMOCRACY. IT DOES NOT ALLOW FOR THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH, STATE, OR LAW. IT IS ALL ONE IN ISLAM. AND WHAT IS THEIR LAW SYSTEM? THEIR LAW SYSTEM IS ABOUT TORTURE AND "HONOR KILLINGS" ETC. IT IS EXTREMELY BARBARIC!
ONCE THE TROOPS LEAVE IRAQ, IT WILL BE OVERTAKEN BY "OLD HAT" MUSLIMS, WHICH WILL THRUST THEM BACK INTO THE DARK AGES. THIS HAPPENED IN AFGHANISTAN AND IRAN.
WE CANNOT SUCCEEED IN IRAQ UNTIL EVERY SINGLE PERSON THERE IS FORCED TO PRACTICE CHRISTIANITY, WHICH TEACHES THE PRINCIPLES NECESSARY FOR DEMOCRACY TO WORK.
...AND BELIEVE ME THEY WILL NOT CONVERT EVEN IF THEY WANT TO, BECAUSE THE PUNISHMENT FOR APOSTACY UNDER ISLAM''S LAW SYSTEM IS "DEATH."
ISLAM IS THEIR PEOPLE''S #1 ENEMY. - Reply to this comment
- As a fan for many years, I am appalled and disgusted how you edited John McCain''s comments regarding the surge in Iraq and inserted footage to cover his blunder.
I will never watch any news from your station ever again. Why don''t you just put a Fox logo tattoo on your forehead. Your actions directly threatens democracy and the american way and have directly contributed to the erosion of what this great country stood for. - Reply to this comment
- I am incredulous that CBS does not uphold its own journalistic standards. We need to understand just exactly who these candidates are, and altering responses does not serve this purpose. CBS needs to be forthcoming with its viewership, and devote time during the evening news to explaining what was done, and that John McCain made an error which was abetted by CBS news. It needs to be an entire news story and not a 2 second apology.

- Why did CBS edit John McCain''s interview? CBS cut a wrong answer McCain gave and replaced it with a completely different answer on their broadcast. This goes against their own written policy on ethics.
The public wants to know: 1.) Has CBS done this before?
2.) Did the McCain campaign request CBS to cut the wrong answer?
3.) Does CBS do such "favors" for Democratic candidates.
4.) How can CBS call itself a News organization? Sounds more like a public relations firm to me.
5.) Does Katie Couric want John McCain to win? - Reply to this comment
- The obvious editing of an interview to place a more favorable light on a candidate is reprehensible. How can you pretend to be professional journalists? Shame on you and your organization.

- I am so disturbed by CBS'' handling of the McCain interview. His msitatements edited out and replaced with another answer alone is dissappointing enough. Then to choose the extreme sound bite that Obama "would rather lose a war and win an election"???
Why arent you also running McCain''s Cheese backdropped, pathetic response to his original gaffe?
His rambling about what the real meaning of "surge" is should be run on a loop every 15 minutes. Redeem youselves! Show the actual time line of the surge, dates of Anbar awakening, expose his embarrassing double talk. We should be seeing that sound bite as often as we saw Clinton''s" depends on what the meaning of ''is'' is-" or just change your name to "Mc CBS" Where''s Cronkite, Murrow??? - Reply to this comment
- Ever notice how the far left has nothing but hate ?
No logic, no argument, no knowledge, no viable candidate, just hate.
Hate on dude! We''re loving it. - Reply to this comment
- John McCain has killed and will kill again to win unjust wars.

- I am old enough to have seen Edward R Murrow on TV. I have recordings of %u201CI can hear it now%u201D and of his speeches from London, as well as his DVD set. CBS will always be the station that withdrew support from him after he rejected McCarthyism, as well as the station that censored and then cancelled the Smothers Brothers Show. Now we add this lack or courage and responsibility to the list. I have enjoyed and admired Katie Couric, but shame on you CBS, shame.

- The surge is the reason for the awakening. it would not have happened and would not have survived without the successful surge strategy. Get a life and go read someone who knows, like Yon''s blog.

- Editing is one thing...outright inserting a different answer to a question is outrageous. No apology is even more outrageous.
I guess I STILL will not be watching CBS ant time soon. - Reply to this comment
- When is Katie going to be fired for deliberately lying to the viewers? When she asks a question in an interview viewers expect the answer to be the one for that question. Anything else is just a fraud. How long has this deception been going on? Did she and her staff perpetrate this act because they support and protect McCain? I think so. Have they suppressed McCain''s embarrassing responses in the past? Most likely!

- Actually our payoffs to Iraqi terrorists have probably had the greatest effect on reducing the violence. Take away the cash and then see what the Surge did.

YIKES! They''ll never do that!! They know what would happen if they did! This successful surge would collapse over night! They won''t stop the ''payola'' until January 21st, 2009---as a present to the incoming president! - Reply to this comment
- How''s this for comedy gold.
Katie Couric in a speech before the National Press Club, September 2007:
Couric took Rather to task for his reporting. "There were things in there that were quite egregious in terms of how it was reported," she said. "And sloppy work is sloppy work...They did not dot their I?s and cross their T?s when it came to that story...And our job is to get it right." - Reply to this comment
