In An Exclusive Interview With Katie Couric, Illinois Senator Defends Position On Troop Buildup
- I''m surprised Katie Couric isn''t demanding from both candidates that they tell the world the precise dates on which a precise number of our military personnel will depart Iraq. Could it be that will depend on circumstances not predicatable by McCain, Obama or even CBS? Isn''t that self-evident? When the candidates give honest answers that don''t satisfy Couric''s persistent and counterproductive questions, she assumes an attitude. Candidates, please, don''t let her limit your answers with her questions. Shoot straight. If she doesn''t like it - and she probably won''t if the answer comes from McCain - so be it.

- Obama is a pathetic man who knows nothing- can change nothing- and speaks nothing. He is an inexperianceed, unqualified candidate... He is a man who has no right being Commander of this great country, go back to IL, senator.

To some extent, Obama is inexperienced. But our constitutional system does not take the view that that is a real serious deficiency in a commander-in-chief. Otherwise, why limit the terms of a president to just two? The infusion of new ideas and people that keeps our democracy strong is the more critical consideration here. And when one party has blown it big time, it''s appropriate to say thank you, folks, you can now pack up and go back to wherever hills you came out of. - Reply to this comment
- Is this the America we turned into? I thought this was a place where intelligent men, and women could express their opinions in a mature, and responsible manner; but this has turned into a place where racist, and bigots come to rant, and disgrace this country I love and spent three years in Iraq, and one year in Afghanistan defending.

- This guy is so far from a commander-in-chief that it is laughable. I am a life-long Democrat with no plans to vote for either candidate. They are both idiots.

- Nice job Senator Obama! Man that''''s got to burn the neocons cookies that you''''re welcomed with open arms in foreign displomacy when Bush is universally hated.

It doesn''t mean that I''m gonna be an expert on everything. It means that %u2026 I''m still gonna be consulting with people who have specialized in a particular area or particular region. But I think that I have a good feel for the nature of the problems that we have, the fact that the globe has gotten smaller, that we are all interconnected but that we still have a whole host of ethnic divisions and rivalries %u2026 that are people are still steeped in history."...
More gibberish from the weakest candidate the democrat party has ever put forth in my lifetime. I know more about the GWOT than this narcissistic fraud, its history and ramifications. As a product of the corrupt Daley crime family in Chicago, Obama is a cunning sock-puppet who has duped the useful idiots of the so-called MSM, as well as legions of disinformed, hate-filled leftists in the democrat party. God help America, should this ignorant phony become POTUS. - Reply to this comment

- Obama is a pathetic man who knows nothing- can change nothing- and speaks nothing. He is an inexperianceed, unqualified candidate, one which will lose terribly once people realize we don''''t need a ''martyr'' telling us what we need, what we want, or what America should have. He is a man who has no right being Commander of this great country, go back to IL, senator.

- Yeah the cease fire came about because of the surge just like the sunni awakening in anbar did. Too bad the sunnis woke up in 2006 and the surge was in 2007. mccain must have forgotten that. The purpose of the surge was to give the iraqi govt. enough time to get their act together. too bad they didn''t.

You have that right, Obama says the "surge doesn''t look good, because I.....Um.....said it wasn''t good back then, so I have to make believe its not good now....Um..." - Reply to this comment
- By not starting impeachment hearings against Bush, Pelosi and the rest of them are clearly complicit in the wrongdoings of this administration---they ALL need to be held responsible.

Yeah, you just keeping sticking to that story. According to you the President, VP, CIA, FBI, HLS, Sec. Of State, Sec. of Denfense, Senate, House were all treasonist, complicit or just plain stupid for this great conspiracy for oil or whatever is your newest allegation to occur. See that''s why nobody has respect for people like you. You can''t be sane and rational...you have to go off the deep end. - Reply to this comment

- liberalme, if as you claim, Bush "twisted" the report, yet when Clinton was president he stated the SAME thing. Truly if Bush did lie why hasn''''t the democrat majority congress started impeachment proceedings? Even if they couldn''''t complete the process they could make a hisotrical statemnet with such proceedings. THe real truth is Bush didn''''t lie, everyone thought Sadam was a threat but in hindsite the Dems are using this knowledge for politics and people like you believe out of hatred.

First of all, I don''t think Clinton say the report Bush had--
Secondly, Saddam was NEVER a threat to us--he had nothing to do with 911--nothing to do with Bin Laden, the only reason we went there was for the oil!
Bin Laden was in Afganistan---our concentration should have not diverted from Bin Laden---not for a minute--Bush wanted Sadam to be a threat--so Bush MADE him a threat.

yes, I was amazed at how that story vanished. He said that it was nothing,. She had no comment. His wife has cancer, why make it an issue. The story just died. However, if he becomes a vp candidate, you can bet the ranch that it''ll come up again. And if he was indeed stepping out on Liz, he''ll get nabbed again. Ahh, politics, isn''t it exciting - Reply to this comment
