They''re swimming upstream, but it just seems to me like they''re letting Barack have the spotlight, and then they''re going to cull through the information he''s given in interviews and hammer him on his vulnerabilities when he gets home.
His vulnerability is his lack of detail, combined with peoples'' conflicted interests in wanting to leave but also not wanting to leave Iraq in chaos. The danger of leaving chaos is the resentment and blame it would likely fuel amongst the people left behind who are battle-hardened, determined, and aggressive. - Reply to this comment

McCain''ll likely point out that thanks to him we are now in a position to leave behind peace and dignity, whereas with Barack the guy who wanted to leave at the height of the Sunni-Shiite civil bloodbath you''ve got a guy who''s said he''s for leaving in 16 months and who is mum about what he''d do if violence once again started to erupt as troops began to leave.
McCain may not be to great with the lay of the land over there (:o) but he''s shown a pretty good capacity to adapt without taking much heat (as shown in the polls) for flip-flopping. It''ll be interesting to see how the rust-belt might respond if he too adapts a pledge to withdraw by the end of his term, as quickly as possible BUT by leaving peace (which then forces Barack to lay out whether the withdrawal is at all costs, or whether he''s actually lying about the 16months. He''s clearly lying.) - Reply to this comment
- Amazing, isn''''t it? But some people can never have the cojones or the honor to admit when they are wrong (see ''''Bush; past 8 years'''').

Hate to tell you but the dems are still trying to deny the surge worked until about two weeks ago.
Sucess in Iraq is due to the surge. Not Obama and not the Dem congress who faught bush (and lost) every step of the way.
The funny thing about this election is that we will be already in the process of withdrawl from Iraq by the time of the election, which is all because of Bush''s plan which worked after failing for 4 years.
The success of the plan will put the spot light on the economy and doom McCain in the Nov election. So while a good Iraq makes Bush look better, it hurts McCain. - Reply to this comment
- i remember when the American public fell for the "flip flopping" propaganda that was spread my the bush administration against john kerry. Fast forward four years later and now look where you are in your country. Now the maccain party is trying the same political tactic my undermining and discrediting obama in hopes of carrying on the bush legacy. Same strategy, just marketed and presented differently, in other words same sh*t different toilet

I''m for Obama but your giving him way too much credit if you think he accomplished anything by his trip other then a photo opp. All this talk of our troops coming home is because of Bush and the surge. I know you libs will never except that but its fact. This war will be winding down soon and its not because of a time table, and its not because of the dems, its becasue of the surge Bush.
That being said, this election will thus be about the Economy, and if that is what this election is about, Obama will blow McCain out of the water - Reply to this comment

What they should say is now that the surge has worked we can start to leave. Obama said the surge would never work, he was wrong. If it was up to him we would of left two years ago and Iran and the terrorist would be running IRAQ.
Just because Iraq is ready for us to leave, doesn''t mean that they mean that they beleive in Obama''s posistion. Setting a time table without consideration of what goes on on the ground is bad judgement.
What Obama and McCain are going to find is that are troops will be on their way home before either one of them takes over, which means the debate will be more about the economy which means that McCain is toast! - Reply to this comment
