- Congress always takes a break this time of year. If any of you had ever lived in DC this time if year, you would realize why. It is effing unbearable, especially in August.

Yeah, it gets pretty hot here in TN, too, especially when you''re working two jobs and still can''t afford to turn on the air conditioning! Wish I could take a vacation... - Reply to this comment

Maybe you can have the starring role in the next installment. You are pre-qualified. - Reply to this comment
- Vacation? You mean they were actually ''WORKING''?
They show up barely 100 days a year; Queen Pelosi rakes in $217,400, Chancellors Reid and Hoyer get $188,100, and Court Fool Murtha and the rest get $169,300.
This means that they make more in ONE DAY than many Americans make in a paycheck.
In 1989 (when the Dumbocrats had control of both the House and the Senate) Congress passed an amendment allowing for AUTOMATIC cost of living raises, unless lawmakers specifically voted to reject it. THAT is why you never here from the Liberal Media that Congress votes for it''s own raises.
Since January 2001 gasoline prices have gone up at TWELVE TIMES the rate they averaged from January 2001 to January 2007.
If you want more of the same, vote Democrat.
If you really like it up the arse, vote for Obumbadumba; then the Dumbocrats will control it all. - Reply to this comment

- Tell me that what I just heard is not true. Our government just took a vacation? This country is in shambles right now. We are in a war that is costing us a lot of borrowed money, we got car plants that are closing here, (but for some reason they are going to import the cars they now make in China), unemployment is everywhere, and the last time I looked, the gas was 4.14 a gallon, and the oil companies are laughing all the way to the bank, and the stock market is dropping every day. Of course I didn''t mention that we are having a recession here. Maybe the government doesn''t think so, but the writing is on the wall if someone would like to look. Hello!!!! I just don''t know what to think anymore.

- yeah, i''m sick of not having a choice...i think Ron Paul is a smart, conservative and good choice, but he ended his campain...so what do we do? do we have no choice? no more war, no more economic death, start listening to the people or get out...we seriously need to meet them at the capitol with torches and pitchforks!

- "Congress Takes Vacation"
This is a Democratic majority congress. It will only be worse worse if you elect a Democratic president.
Remember, the rating for Congress is about 12 points BELOW Bush''s rating. I, for one, don''t want the kind of "change" Obama and the Democratic Party want to bring. We''ve had enough of them already!
I know you think I''m a Republican, but the truth is, McCain is not much better, but he is some better. Both candidates are pretty bad, and that makes me angry. - Reply to this comment
- JOHN QUINCY ADAMS
When he 14 he was appointed Congressional diplomatic ambassador to The Court of Catherine the Great of Russia! He served also as foreign ambassador, Secretary of state, U.S. representative, senator and of course President!
SPEECH BY JOHN QUINCY ADAMS July 4, 1837
%u201CWhy is it that, next to the birth day of the Savior of the world, your most joyous and most venerated festival returns on this day.%u201D The fourth of July.
%u201CIs it not that, in the chain of human events, the birth-day of the nation is indissolubly linked with the birth-day of the Savior? That it forms a leading event in the progress of the gospel dispensation? Is it not that the Declaration of independence first organized the social compact on the foundation of the Redeemer%u2019s mission upon earth? That it laid the cornerstone of human government upon the first precepts of Christianity?%u201D
John Quincy Adams said the biggest victory won in the revolution was that Christian Principles and Civil government would be tied together in an indissolubly bond! - Reply to this comment
- Guess Nancy has to get back to SF to get her botox done.
You know that is more important than "drilling our way out of this" - Reply to this comment
- These guys are more interested in pointing fingers than creating "good" laws.
Politicians must compromise to get laws passed but the D leadership seems more interested in finding political gain from finding fault than creating viable law.
What a waste. - Reply to this comment
- this is why Congress'' approval rating is even lower than Bush''s ... Hopefully we can get rid of some of these incumbents that year after year do nothing but grumble and rumble but do nothing ...like Kerry!

One normally has to work to get a pay raise too but they don''t let that get in their way for that, either. - Reply to this comment

the democrats

- that''s so funny
didn''t they howl when the iraqi counterparts took their vacation?
you guys deserve an "F"
cause you''ve failed the american people again
first you had no spine to stand up to the damage bush was doing
(except howl in protest)
in violating the constitution with his signing statements and using inteligence agencies to spy on americans without court supervision
dismantling the economy piece by piece til we''re broke and serious problems for many years
you berated the iraqi leadership
what''s your excuse congress?
town meetings to listen to what the people want
well they want you in washington working for solutions to the mess the US in is
that''s what!
congress deserves it''s criticisms - Reply to this comment
