The money we are spending overseas is nothing in comparison to our social programs our government runs.
The real money we spend is for entitlement programs and fact remain that Since Democrats have taken control of congress we have had:
Gas prices go thru the roof.
Home prices fall.
The stock market go bear.
Inflation going up. - Reply to this comment
- I am taking a list of current senators to the polls with me to insure i don''''t vote for one already in office.

You can only have two senators you can vote for and probably only one is up for reelection.
You''ve never voted before have you??? - Reply to this comment
- Barocalto - I like how you blame the economic hardships of this country on the Democrats. Its too bad our REPUBLICAN president is throwing away trillions of american tax dollars overseas.

- No matter which party, each needs to be voted out of office. There are honorable and good Republicans and Democrats to take their places. For god''s sake, let''s just get rid of every one of the current batch and give ourselves a do-over. I mean let''s face it, if we don''t get rid of our local yahoos, then we deserve the crappy congress we have. I''m willing to give up my favorite do-nothing Democrat in my state/district if you''re wiling to give your favorite do-nothing Republican in your state/district and we can both agree to just vote for someone else--same party, but not the incumbent. Come on, let''s just do it.

- They don''t meet with their consuiants. They go home, isolate themselves, go back and ring their hands and say it is bad, what can we do. None of them care about the people who voted for them. Doesn''t make any difference what party they are. They have one solution. Wait and see.
Even if we told them what we wanted, they won''t listen. They have to raise money so that they can get re-elected. - Reply to this comment
- I had three republican senators write to me and tell me how great our economy was and what a geat job bush is doing. Our elected officials really don''t have a clue as to what is going on.

- I had a representative write me and say she had sponsored a bill to make tv stations control the volume on tv programs during commercials. I wrote back and told her our economy is collapsing and your worried about the noise levels on tv ? Another one i will not vote for.

- I had a senator write and tell me the foreign aid plan had been in place for 50 years and wasn''t working, and how he wanted to work to fix it. The damm thing doesn''t need fixing, it needs scrapped. We can no longer afford to supportthe rest of the world. And he thinks i am going to vote for him. I have a mental picture of us both pissing on each others leg and saying it is raining.

- Even if cheney had been right about China drilling 60 miles off the Florida coast, it would have been legal. We only claim a 12 mile jurisdiction. Maybe we should extend our jurisdiction to include oil and mineral rights.

- I already wrote and told my senators i am looking to elect all new blood in November. The current regime had its shot and did nothing. I am taking a list of current senators to the polls with me to insure i don''t vote for one already in office. Funny thing is more seems to get accomplished when they are on vacation.

- This is why every one in Congress needs to go. Any body that votes for a menber of Congress next time one of them runs should be run out of town, out of the USA. Not one of them is worth a D--. All they care about is them self. And the money they get from big oil.

- The only possible excuse for taking a vacation at this time would be to meet with constituents to find out how people feel about issues facing them, but that is not what they are doing.
They are glad-handing and raising money for their re-election campaigns. The he11 with how anyone feels about anything. The time when our representatives actually mixed and mingled with real people is gone forever.
They all live in a tight protected world, purposely separated from anyone who ''might do them harm''.
Completely out of touch, how could anyone expect them to appreciate and do anything about real problems facing real people?
This November, throw them all out in the street where they belong. - Reply to this comment

- The ones that want reelection are not taking vacation but are campaigning for their seats. A major part of the problem is that the Democrats push something and the GOP works to kill it - good or bad. And frequently succeeds. In 11/2008, unfortunately, the American public will pick the Democrats to control Congress by a wide margain (even Sen. McConnell admits that) and then things can start to get done.
Too bad. I like a two party system. - Reply to this comment
