These young people lack sufficient patriotic spirit to make them ashamed not to serve! It''s become fashionable to live selfishly!

Conservative attitudes over the last fifty years have promoted corporate greed, trashing the environment, war for profit, crushing national debt, and turning the whole place into a third world country. So this is where conservatives have brought us: prisons are filled with filthy corporate crooks who stole the retirement from people who worked for it all their lives. Conservative attitudes are so widespread that most of our children will not enjoy the standard of living that we have. Many of them turn to the military because the conservatives work feverishly to make sure they have no other option. If tax breaks for the rich and wealthy were eliminated, mebbe we would get the middle class back.

Prisons are filled with filthy, tattooed drug abusers. Liberal attitudes have become so widespread that the Army sees mostly dropouts and criminals. If welfare, food stamps, Medicaid were halted, in 10 or 15 years, the youth would be more fit.

Honestly, if you ask me the problem isn''t a political one. Todays youth is going wild with, I know someone already mentioned it, VIDEO GAMES, punk and gothic music, rap and the whole wanna be gangster life style in general. The root of the whole problem with todays kids isn''t the government, its the people that are solely responsible for their children''s upbringing: THE PARENTS.

Parents are looking for every excuse to make public schools raise their kids instead of them. They let their kids run free from the day they learn to walk, scared to discipline them and put the fear of god into them. The lack of parenting results in a complete disregard for authority and an "I can do whatever I want," kind of attitude. Parents let their kids become addicted to video games because it keeps them occupied and out of their hair, they fail out of school because they dont do their homework. Everything just keeps compounding together.

If we want to see our nation change for the better then it has to be with todays youth, and that change has to start at home with the parents.

The REPUBLICAN PARTY gave us this mess and THEY deserve the BLAME and RESPONSIBILITY. The Nation is FINE and after this election we WILL start to move forward again. What rot and rubbish! If the Army wants physically fit people then all they have to do is run them through a longer boot camp. It isn''t any different than what your average corporation has to do when they hire green kids right out of college, they have to train them too. Fat and out of shape kids are easy to fix and if the Army has forgot how to do it, there''s tons of personal trainers in the phone book that know how. And as for ignorant kids who haven''t graduated, well that''s easy to fix too. Get your best drill sargents standing over them yelling at them and they will earn their GED''s in no time flat.
Basically what this article is, is Army whining that they want American society to hand them the best, most fit, and the brightest kids on a silver platter. Well tough cookies, that won''t happen. The best, most fit, and brightest kids are working their ***** off during the summer making money at summer jobs, they aren''t hanging around the mall waiting for some recruiter to walk up. If the Army can take some of the bottom-feeder lazy slob dropout kids and clean them up, get them a high school diploma, the Army will have done more good for the society than the useless adventuring in Iraq.
