YOU DO NOT LIKE THE USA IN THE MIDDLE EAST,,,

BLAME THE DEMONIC-RATS,,,

THE DEMONIC-RAT DOCTRINE,,,

On February 16, 1943, President Franklin D. Roosevelt said the "the defense of Saudi Arabia is vital to the defense of the United States." On February 14, 1945, while returning from the Yalta Conference, Roosevelt met with King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia on the Great Bitter Lake in the Suez Canal, the first time a U.S. president had visited the Persian Gulf region.

The Carter Doctrine was a policy proclaimed by President of the United States Jimmy Carter in his State of the Union Address on 23 January 1980, which stated that the United States would use military force if necessary to defend its national interests in the Persian Gulf region. The doctrine was a response to the 1979 invasion of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union, and was intended to deter the Soviet Union%u2014the Cold War adversary of the United States%u2014from seeking hegemony in the Persian Gulf. After stating that Soviet troops in Afghanistan posed "a grave threat to the free movement of Middle East oil," Carter proclaimed:

Let our position be absolutely clear: An attempt by any outside force to gain control of the Persian Gulf region will be regarded as an assault on the vital interests of the United States of America, and such an assault will be repelled by any means necessary, including military force. Thank you neobrian. I knew I had problems but now with your help I can identify them. I am a loser and a greedy oil pervert. I will try to rectify my shortcomings. Hopefully I can stop being a loser and a greedy oil pervert and become a positive force for humanity, just like you, my friend.

Lucky day! A friend has a beach-house he''s been unable to rent for 1/2 the season so he''s letting his friends use it for free, rather than have it sit vacant.

So, the question is, will we pay $4 for gas to get there? Really trying not to pay the oilmen any more than necessary these days...

curse914,
The Fed''s board is nominated by the President and confirmed by the Senate. It''s domain name is .gov. It is not private.
That''s a big stretch saying taxes subsidize oil speculation through a guaranteed loan to Chase, which averted a possible worldwide banking/economic collapse. It is correct to say that our tax dollars are involved in oil futures markets via the state and teacher pension funds.
How does one (you and others like you) reconcile the fact that you want government to take over everything when you''re constantly railing against Bush/Cheney/McCain et. al., because thay have this evil plan to take over the world? Like it or not thay are a big part of the government, and McCain will continue in that role whether he is President or not.
Finally, name me one commodity that is controlled by the government. Not copper, not gold and certainly not (my favorite) beer.

Chavez can afford to subsidize oil because he stole (nationalized) American companie''s wells and he owns Citgo. So if you like & support him buy all your stuff at Citgo. Otherwise steer clear.

samsel3 says "Mcain & Bush want to give Big Oil more Federal land for oil drilling but continue to ignore the facts." How is it giving when the oil companies have to pay for leases?

When something called the National Defense Resources (or whatever it''s called) is cited telling us how much drilling won''t help, do you think they may have a vested interest in twisting the facts to fit their agenda? Or omitting relevant data? Or quoting people of like minds & ignoring what people that really know the business say?

To all who advocate nationalizing oil, tell me how that would bring the price down? If you insist on lower gas prices that means taxes would have to make up the difference. You''re already complaining about the national debt. Please show me any government run program, project or undertaking that operates efficiently, without waste, fraud & abuse. Tell me what part of government really delivers what is promised. Like AMTRACK. Or the Post Office. Enlighten me, just name one.

Mcain & Bush want to give Big Oil more Federal land for oil drilling but continue to ignore the facts.

In March of 2008 a Cambridge, MA. oil & Gas consulting firm issued a report to Congress. In that report the Congress was told that the laws of supply & demand no longer apply to oil. Demand is constant with only small fluctuations at any given time. Although world demand will increase their is plenty of supply. BIG OIL currently leases 90 million acres of oil & gas land & offshore sites, 70 million are not in use. It is not in Big Oil''s economic interest to use these 70 million acres as they have enough supply at this time. Big oil does not want to loose profit by increasing supply , after all selling oil products is their business. Additional offshore and Alaskan wilderness leases are not necessary, Big Oil just wants additional control of these areas for future marketing.

The Saudi''s and Big Oil are very happy with the Bush & Cheney energy policy which eliminated Iraqi world oil market manipulation. Saddam kept prices down by selling cheap thus preventing the Saudi''s & Big Oil from getting the prices up. Bush & Cheney opened Pandora''s box & now things will never be the same.

"hose LOL. Try your "supply and demand" bs somewhere else. There is NO shortage of supply. - Posted by trillion1

Oh - and you are such an authority on oil supply.

Check out some facts - try speaking from a knowlege base instead of a self-righous narsistic point of view:

http://www.wtrg.com/oil_graphs/PAPRPOP90.gif

Notice How the price of oil is going up in this graph since 2000, INSPITE of production going up! Gee, ya think demand was up ? Where did all that oil go - you can''t artifically inflate the cost of oil forever. There was new deamnd - dummy. Ever hear of China and their new found trade with the US ?

Note how Opec Production goes down in mid 2005. What would you expect to happen ?

DUH - cost skyrockets! The Speculators have hurt us to be certain, but the less oil on the market, the more they speculate!

So don''t talk to me about BS - you don''t know BS!

curse914 - that is a communistic solution, and DOOMED to failure.

All congress has to do is allow drilling in Alaska and insitu mining of shale oil, with the caveate that none may leave the US, and the price of oil will be back down to $30 a barrel within 3 years.

It would burst the buble of the speculators - wiping out their fortunes.

"High prices caused by a bad war. - dafras.

Another idiotic statement. The cost of oil was at $65 a barrel according to this site, as of 2006.

Hmmmm.... What happened in 2006 ? It wouldn''t be the Democratic congress would it ?
