ausus: Never said that. I see the practice of putting words in people''s mouth and then attacking them for it, is still in full use. Sort of like "Why do you hate America?".

I hope it happens. I hope OPEC and the speculators take gas to $20 a gallon and tens of millions of Americans lose their jobs and houses and become homeless and take to the streets with weapons to try and survive.

This country deserves it for how stupid we''ve become.

lightningfro,

Parts of Los Angeles are densely populated, but people choose to live in outlying areas. Los Angeles area-wise is one of the biggest cities in the world. I think it is beaten only by Brisbane and Mt Isa in Australia. While I was born in LA, I don''t live there now.

As I said earlier, I chose to live near public transport. In a free society, you can''t conscript people to live where you want them to. You can only hope to educate them.

Well...thank the dear lord we came up with ethanol!!! I mean, what better than running on corn?
Huh...flooding in corn-belt??? Blame that on Bush, cause my child Sermianan, was just perusing the Farmers Almanac and said that since the 1800''s we periodically have flooding, and drought....whoa...you''re ruining my argument son!
Okay, anyway WE"VE STILL GO ELECTRICITY! Yup, plug that baby in and we can go for 80 miles!
What, most of the electricity is produced by what???
Ignorance can only be fortified by repeated Harvard lecturers, or by loading defunct Pen Gillette drivel-casts in your Ipod.
Have a Nice Day!

Take a look at LA, densely populated (I think more so than NY) but they have one of the worst public transit systems for a city its size. It would seem that the smart thing to do for a city that size would be a efficient mass transit system but that''s not always the case.

And with far more crime centered around the personal vehicle than public transit, I don''t worry too much other than dealing with rude/funky/intrusive people which I just ignore. There was a shooting outside one of the buses last month and they waited until the got OFF the bus to get violent. I guess witnesses deterred them from committing the crime on the bus but they still did it near the bus...go figure.

Between the rising price of gas, and the plummeting value of the US dollar, I see 8 bucks/gallon by next summer.
