- This should Pisss everyone off:
Vice President *** Cheney has won his battle to withhold records from the public despite efforts by Congress and other critics who say they should be open to scrutiny.
The Democrats are conceding defeat. The party''s top investigator in the House of Representatives acknowledges that there is nothing more he can do to force the vice president''s hand.
"He has managed to stonewall everyone," said Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. "I''m not sure there''s anything we can do." - Reply to this comment
- We of cause live in a new era where women have access to roles that were formely tasked to men only. But I can''t help feeling uncomfortable seeing women come back with such horrific injuries. I recognise this could happen if they were a Cop or Firefighter, but it is just the sheer scale of numbers that makes this particular tragedy so unpallatable. This said they are brave women, each and everyone of them, and I wish them well.

These women have not been disfigured. They can wear their scars of honor proudly. They are no less a woman now than they were before. I hope they can always stand proud. They served when called. I salute them for service, not the war. - Reply to this comment
- If someone had spat at me when i came back from nam they would have been dead before i realized i had reacted. If i see anyone spit on a soldier today i will personally beat the hell out of them.

I have to disagree. My daughter just returned from Iraq and she saw combat. She had good training from the army but i supplemented it with my own before she deployed. I also taught her how to use a knife for hand to hand. I know plenty of women who can fight. I respect a woman soldier equally with their male counterparts. I do not support the war in Iraq but i will always support our troops. - Reply to this comment

- "A lot of anti-war Democrats have been insisting the war in Iraq is Vietnam all over again. And as if to validate that point, we find this bit of news in The Syracuse Post-Standard of Syracuse, New York:
"A Syracuse woman is accused of spitting in a Fort Drum soldier''s face at Hancock Airport. Lauren Maggi, 35, was charged with second-degree harassment after the Nov. 22 incident, according to a police report."
So it is Vietnam all over again, now that the Democrats have won. Now we have anti-war protesters living again the darkest days of the Vietnam War, when American soldiers got off the plane and anti-war types spit on them.

- The matter of gender in this case is a moot point.
If a man loses a foot and a woman loses a foot, the prescribed appropriate treatment should be the same. - Reply to this comment
- AMERICAN''S SHOULD MAKE A STRONG, STRONG, STAND ABOUT GETTING OUT OF THIS USELESS WAR. WE SHOULD NEVER HAVE GONE THERE IN THE 1ST PLACE. BUSH JUST WANTED TO IMPRESS HIS DAD. HE SHOULD HAVE STAYED ON THE TRAIL OF THE 9/11 FUGITIVE''S, GOT OSAMA BIN LADEN, AND ALL THE REST OF THE TOP PEOPLE WORKING FOR HIM, AND LAID OFF OF IRAG, AND COMING SOON, IRAN, AND THEN WHO KNOWS WHERE, N. KOREA? I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM J.McCAIN, WISH RON PAUL COULD HAVE GOTTEN THE NOMINATION, BUT SINCE HE DIDN''T, I HOPE OSAMA GETS IT. IT SEEMS WE''ER SCREWED IF WE DO AND SCREWED IF WE DON''T, BUT I HAVE MORE TRUST IN OBAMA. AT LEAST HE;S NOT SO OLD AND HE WANTS TO BRING OUR TROOPS HOME. WE NEESD TO GET THEM OUT OF THERE AS FAST AS WE CAN WITHOUT CAUSING CHAOS. JUST MY OPINION

- Women do get hurt and some are killed when inadvertently involved in combat, but other than nurses, they should not be there. Read this article by the new Democratic US Senator from Virginia:
Women Can''t Fight
By James Webb
"Your mission remains fixed, determined, inviolable%u2014it is to win wars," Douglas MacArthur told the 1962 West Point class. In this story, a Naval Academy graduate, a combat veteran of Vietnam, says the country''s fighting mission is being corrupted, with grave consequences to the national defense. One of the main problems, he says, is women. The article''s name is "Women Can''t Fight." - Reply to this comment
- Women shouldn''''t be on the frontlines. Men shouldn''''t be on the frontlines either. If we bring everyone home, we won''''t have this VA Hospital overload.
