Katie Couric Speaks With The Presumptive GOP Nominee About Myanmar, His Opponents And Mother's Day
- I think there is a danger for America''s President to be too military oriented. We need someone who can try to solve the problems before they get out of hand not after they affect us. Military solutions are insane, war is insane, being reasonable and Christ like are the goals that we should pursue. Peace is always better than irrational killing to get your way.

AP: The man picked by the John McCain campaign to run the 2008 Republican National Convention resigned Saturday after a report that his lobbying firm used to represent the military regime in Myanmar.
Doug Goodyear resigned as convention coordinator and issued a two sentence statement:
"Today I offered the convention my resignation so as not to become a distraction in this campaign. I continue to strongly support John McCain for president, and wish him the best of luck in this campaign."
Goodyear, chief executive of lobbying firm DCI Group, resigned a few hours after Newsweek posted a story posted online that the company was paid $348,000 in 2002 and 2003 to represent Myanmar''s junta.
"We respect Mr. Goodyear''s decision, and look forward to the convention in September," said Brian Rogers, a spokesman for the McCain campaign.
Cyclone Nargis left more than 60,000 people dead or missing, and the U.N. estimates that at least 1.5 million people have been severely affected. Human rights organizations and dissident groups have bitterly accused the junta of neglecting disaster victims and blocking foreign donations of relief supplies. - Reply to this comment

SUPPORT THE TROOPS
Many soldiers missing out on Bush%u2019s stimulus checks
In August 2006 the 10th Mountain Division, 2nd BCT, 1-89 Cavalry was sent to Iraq for 12 months. In April 2007, the troops were told the Army was adding three additional months to their time in country.
In November 2007 the troopers of 1-89 arrived back in New York from their tour. They are now being told by the IRS, via the IRS Web site, that they haven%u2019t earned enough money to qualify for the economic stimulus check. - Reply to this comment

- If John was trying to pass himself off as Youthful, it was a Sad Futile Attempt.
John`s Mother looks like his Wife...
Cindy Looks like his Daughter
John`s Daughters look like they belong, to someone other than John !!!
The McCain`s Look more like a Retired Florida Couple, than Mother & Son !!
His Wife looks like his Daughter and should be taking care of him !!

- To honor his mama, maybe Senator McCain should support legislation to assure that females are paid the same as males for the same work.
But such a law would be just and fair and against the Reagan-Bush-McCain dictum that government can do no good. - Reply to this comment
- The Republican Candidate:
*super old
*essentially the same foreign and domestic policies as George Bush Jr.
*Surrounds himself with lobbyists
*Dumped his first wife after numerous infidelities to shack up with a super-rich trophy wife
*Flip-flops on positions almost daily
* Career Washington D.C. politician
* Has had gov''t health care from birth to today and doesn''t want everyone to have what he has.
*has a terrible temper he has trouble controlling
Good luck with that Cons. - Reply to this comment
- McCain! 72 is 72 regardless of how you turn it around! You can never be 27 again, even if you turn the numbers around. Perhaps Cindy, with all her facelifts would like to look 27 and is doing a better job, but you are old, even if you do not want to admit it. Bringing 95 yoa mother, sitting next to her, you look around the same age. So acknowledge it, admit that you ARE OLD and nothing can change that even if mom is 105. This was a failed attempt to make yourself young - in fact, it made you look just as old as that lady next to you. Age is the reason why you keep confusing yourself about the ****** and sunnis and al-qaeda. No John, they are not the same and interchangeable. Admit it, you are losing your bearings as well as your cool. You are not fit to be president of this great country.

- Just because McCain''s mother still lives doesn''t mean that McCain didn''t:
forget that Iranians are Shia and Al-Qaeda is Sunni 3 times in 2 days.
forget that Czechoslovakia doesn''t exist.
forget that the Iraq War wasn''t about oil.
forget that he was against Bush''s tax cuts before he was for them
forget that he was for his immigration bill before he was against it.
forget that he was against torture before he was for it.
The fact that McCain''s mother still lives doesn''t mean he doesn''t have the initial stages of Alzheimer''s. - Reply to this comment
- I thought Cindy was John''s wife. Boy, she must have had a facelift (a few dozen facelifts) and John doesn''t age very well, does he? -sarcasm-

- Article: "Roberta McCain: Yes [I eloped to Tijuana with Johns Dad]. Over the weekend, before my final exams in January, I took my text books to study that weekend, if you can believe that?
Couric: When you were eloping? "
Lets face it. The America the McCain''s are working towards is one where someone who did that would spend the REST OF HER LIFE PAYING FOR HER BAD DECISION. Here they are, trying to paint themselves as ''just folks'', when they are working toward an elitist America where people who display bad judgement when they are young (and full of hormones) get to spend the rest of their lives PAYING for their decision. Lucky for her (and her children), HER America was just a BIT more forgiving. Not like the America Republicans have worked so hard, and so successfully, to create over the last 30 years. - Reply to this comment

- Do Republicans really need their nominee to campaign with his mommy? As if showing up next to his fossil mother makes him look any less like Mr. Magoo.

- My friends, any grown man does not need to bring his older mother to boost his cause unless one is getting old and muddled and in the process of trying to later clarify his words, he could attribute that to a "mispoke or misunderstanding". Now, tell me, my friends, how many of you have brought your mothers to any interviews even while you were in grade school. John mon ami, you are far too old to be our next president. We do not want to go back and live in the years of the VN war. We want to move ahead with new ideas and commitments, new peace and prosperity. We do not want another 100 years of war or live in the past. We appreciate what the older folks like you have done, but it is time for a new day. Until and unless we do this, the USA will not be able to compete with the rest of the world. So rest easy my friend, and retire gracefully while you still have time to enjoy life.

- Not long after 2080, a little baby American will be born that will die in the Iraq war if John McCain''s plan for Iraq holds sway for all those years in between now and then.

- Which party has chosen a candidate that dumped his wife in the past so he could marry an ultra-rich trophy wife? Was it the party that calls itself the party of "family values"? Barack Obama has only been married once. Evidently, he believes in the vows of marriage.

- I''m lazy.
When the night
comes back
telling a story, I''m
lazy: beautiful
sounds of a primitive
faith appear in
my mind, and even
that arrow describes,
in a moment, the
slippery darkness
of a tender caprice,
there, where a
light fades away......
