CBS News Viewers React To The Haunting Story Of One Marine's Misdiagnosed Cancer
- I was disgusted and upset to see this once vibrant young man die the way he did, the military should be held accountable for this misjustice. It is a shame the way the soliders are being treated after they risked their lives for us on a daily basis. I hope this story was seen by the President and Congress to see that our soliders need to come home now. My heart goes out to this family. May God Bless them.

- This was a one sided story. It is an unfortunate situation however suing docs or the gov is not the solution. It has become difficult for docs to practice good medicine in this country due to too many patients, increased regulation, limited time per patient, reduced reimbursements etc. CBS should do a report on this issue to be fair.
The first doc called it melanoma and probably had most likely had his nurse/assistant try to contact the patient. Melanoma can look like warts/moles and can even disappear from the skin and spread. Everyone seems eager to sue docs for all their ills. Docs are humans not machines with xray eyes.
It is hard enough for the miliary to recruit docs to also put their lives on the line. Do you Think of all those who they have saved and done good for. - Reply to this comment
- To the Rodriguez family. Just wanted you to know that I followed up with my promise. I not only emailed our Senators & Representatives but also sent the email to all my contacts. Thank you for allowing this story to be told. It has affected me like no other. I hope and pray laws will be changed so not one more military person receives shoddy medical treatment. Peace be with all of you, eventually.

- I was again totally appalled as to how our military personnel are treated. I''m a four-year veteran of the Air Force and I considered it an honor to serve my country. We are constantly being told to support our troops and yet the ones that are in a position to do the most for them have screwed it up royally almost every time. It''s time to repeal the Feres doctrine and allow people with legitimate claims to file suit if there is provable neglect. I''ve emailed my senators and congressman and as many friends as possbile. Things have to change.

- I''m a military war veteran myself and I think what the family did to speak out was great because of speaking out it may save another soliders life.
I lost my 13 month old child to medical errors and I know here pain we speak out because we dont want this error to happen to your loved ones.
We as Americans have a voice and should tell our political leaders that medical errors have to stop, it''s the third leading cost of death in our country, more deaths than motor vehicle accident, breast cancer, and aids combine, A jumbo jet crash everyday thats 272 people a day, WE HAVE A VOICE TO TELL CONGRESS ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- I cried when I saw this story. I worked for DoD for 38 years as a civilian employee. What a handsome young
man. Here he is fighting for his country and look what they did to him. I know that he is God''s loving arms now and we are all praying for his family. If this is the way we are going to treat our military men and women, all I can say is "God Help Us." How can be sit and judge other countries when this young died so young. Thank you Sgt Rodriguez for the Ameerican people and may God Bless you and keep you safe in His loving arms. God Bless your family as well. - Reply to this comment

- Let Marine Sgt. Carmelo Rodriguez in.
Let in his death
hastened by injustice.
indifference. inhumanity.
Let in his last testimony,
this dancing uncle,
his eyes and bones
all that%u2019s left
at his death.
At his death, maybe trusting
that if only people know
they will act
justly, make a
difference, show their
humanity.
His last breath
a clear request. - Reply to this comment
- As the Mother of a Marine who has served 2 tours of Iraq and is getting ready to head to Afghanistan, I am outraged. Our brave men and women fight to keep our freedoms free and for this family to have to pay for their sons funeral just sickens me. He served, with honor and this is what the Government does to him? It''s a sad day when this country will pay for expensive trips for politicians but not give honor and respect to the very person who provides safety to us all. Shame on them! God bless our troops. They are our heros! God bless this soldiers family and son.
