The sad thing is that soldiers coming back from Iraq and other places of conflict are not given the proper mental health that they should be getting. I have never served in the military and dowubt they would even take me now, but I have always felt that they people who do serve deserve nothing short of the best this country has to offer them in any kind of medical benefits. They took an oath and volunteered of their own accord. If we just leave them hanging in the wind we all should be ashamed for that. They have seen and done things that no "normal" person should ever see or do. And the human psychie can only take so much before it just gives out on a person. We all have our different breaking points.

Ever wonder what vaccine additives, slammed into recruits upon enlistment, and more before deployment, might add to the mental condition of these soldiers? Mercury, aluminum, anti-freeze and formaldehyde (to name a few) aren''t exactly healthy for anybody''s thought processes. My niece the formerly lean mean killing machine was a wreck shortly after arriving in Kuwait, now on disability with Fibromyalgia. How did that happen?

We need weapons in our society like we need smallpox. What we really need is sanity, which translates to a total firearms ban for civilians. Period! All firearms, big and small. No private ownership. No exceptions. Just like in Europe.Posted by schoollord at 01:46 PM : Jan 31, 2008

schoollord! Sorry to have to bust your ballon, but even though gun ownership is illegal in many european countries, somehow or other the criminals still have lots of them.Plenty of people are still being killed by guns because criminals have a nasty habit of thumbing their noses at the law.
Guns can be used to protect or can be used to kill, just as knives can be used to cook or can be used to kill. It all comes down to who''s behind the instrument.

The topic is the fact that soldiers are committing suicide due in no small part to the grose lack of care they recieve from our gvmnt not the method they use.

Support out troops. That means giving them the tools to do the job asked of them, Giving them the proper protection to keep them safe while diong that job and caring for them when they come home. It is that simple. They should have the same medical care that our congress has, NO LESS. They should be able to walk into ANY hospital in the country and get treetment for ANY issue at ANY time no questions asked. The way the government treets them now it is like they are trying to steel something. Yet all the while congress gets tax dollar paid treetment for anything. This includes alcohol and drug related issues and std issues. I resent paying for these self induced issues while our troops are treated to filth and rats. This Nation is embaressing. You should all be ashamed.

The wounded are in worse shape - forced to fight for medical care and rehab and therapy. Being treated like unfairly all around.

THis is Bush''''s legacy.

That isn''t what is concerning me about this situation. What concerns me is John McCain and his statements about Iraq. He repeats the SAME, EXACT SAME, lies that Bush gave us. It would be okay IF he said, we made a mistake and now we have to talk about how to deal with it. He does NOT! He refuses to address the issue of our Troops and that this conflict will last another 10 years if we are lucky.

Liberals simply do not use deception as a political tool.

Posted by jon2012

Right. They use VIOLENCE instead. That is why you won''t permit your liberal projects to be liberal-funded and conservative projects to be conservative-funded. Surely the evangelical war hawks (and the commie welfare sickos) would think twice if a gun were waved in their faces and they were forced to PAY FOR PRECISELY WHAT THEY CONDONE.

It is only when OTHERS are violated that liberals seem to think their ideas are good. By that same token the sick war-fetishists (McCain et al) will never pay for what they propose to do -- steal money and murder.

Look, my brother committed suicide 2 years ago. Stuck a 22 pistol in his mouth, pulled the trigger. The bullet bounced off his lower molars and ricocheted through his brain and out of the back of his skull. We had to mop up the blood off the kitchen floor so his wife could come back in and cook breakfast for their daughter. He wasn''t supposed to have a gun, but he hid the parts in various places around the house and then wired it together when his wife left to shop. It sucks and I miss him every day, but it doesn''t make me feel any differently about guns and it sure doesn''t make me feel any differently about this article because this is about the *** WAR, NOT GUN CONTROL. JESUS!

It is time for us to take back the word LIBERAL!

It has been hijacked, along with the creation of the myth known as Ronald Reagan.

Liberalism is about empowerment of the disadvantaged and a fair deal, among other things. It''s the antithesis to the conservative greed. That''s why we have minimum wage laws, nondiscrimination in housing and employment, and the fight for a universal health care system is being waged by those who carry the badge of liberal politics. It''s also about protecting the environment, protecting consumers and employees.

I''d like to add another idea to this worldview: openness and truthfulness. Liberals simply do not use deception as a political tool.

Our troops are 6 years in Afghanistan and in worse shape now than before - with AQ and taliban going strong there.

Our troops are in Iraq longer than we were involved in WWII -- Bush said the surge would work - it took almost a year and Petreaus still isn''t sure it worked - but a 3 month surge is now there longer than a year. that means so far it has taken 4 times longer than Bush/Petreaus said it would.

Our troops are serving too long, doing too much and getting too little in return - they come back to families exhausted, broken, broke and too stressed. Their families are broke, broken, and exhausted and there isn''t anyone there to help all these people.

The wounded are in worse shape - forced to fight for medical care and rehab and therapy. Being treated like unfairly all around.

THis is Bush''s legacy.

This insane call for a ban on private weapons is entirely the lowest priority and only ensures that violence in INCREASE. Being anti-gun is being pro-violence... Unless you are consistent and want to disarm the murderers employed by our tax dollars.

Look outright LYING is doing no one any good. Look at the facts... Name ONE nation in the civilized world that has put controls on Guns that has a HIGHER death rate with guns than WE do? Look at Canada, look a England, look at Japan... They have less death from guns by FAR... It ain''t even close!

Imagine. The total number of deaths from PUBLIC guns greatly exceeds the number of deaths from PRIVATE. Just look at wars and even just police actions against non-violent citizens. Private weapons are not the enemy. Murder at the hands of government. That is the first priority we need to address.

No, what they conviently left out is the suicide rate is from all veterans all the way back to WWII. Its about 20 million Americans. When you weigh the statistics against 20 million instead of 500,000, its the same as the national average leaning toward high risk civilian occupations.

PS: You want to see an all time high suicide rate? watch and see what happens if America rejects Socialism again!

"We need weapons in our society like we need smallpox. What we really need is sanity, which translates to a total firearms ban for civilians. Period! All firearms, big and small. No private ownership. No exceptions. Just like in Europe. We must demand it in the same ways we demanded the end to the Vietnam War, with violence if necessary. No compromises and no negotiations. Those days are past, as is the era of Wyatt Earp. The NRA must be made to understand that America will no longer be terrorized and held hostage to their Alpha-Male worship. Too much is more than enough, and our society has had more than enough gun carnage. It''''s long past time to end it. You no longer have to hunt for food, venison and clothing. It''''s the 21st Century. The chances are great that you''''ll never be accosted in your home by an intruder, yet the danger of accidents, especially with children, remains high with gun ownership. You want to sport shoot? Then you rent, with all the safety precautions that that would entail. You''''re a collector? Then the weapons must be inoperatable. And if you still want to be a tough guy and have access to firearms, then join the Marines."

"LOL"
