She had to have known she would die, but she did it anyway. It was a selfish, reckless decision to return to Pakistan two months ago. Unfortunately many of her followers also died to support her martyrdom.

V_161877 That was not an answer. Please explain why you think the "Government" did it.

Most unlikely that elections will be held next month. The country is teetering on anarchy right now and that dictator in disguise Musharreff will have to invoke martial law to control it.

This will provide him with the excuse he needs to round up and jail any opposition leaders so that when elections are finally held he will most certainly win. The bush admin will hail the totally rigged elections as a victory for democracy and praise Pakistan for battling against the "enemies of democracy" and look the other way as the dictator in disguise violates the human rights of the population, robs them of their money and generally abuses anyone who dares to oppose him.

The end result will be a coup against him and Pakistan will most likely end up with a Islam hardliner who will kick the US out of Pakistan. Then we will be faced with the nightmare of a nuclear powered radical Islam country. The very thing he has brayed about with Iran.

Who knows what will happen. The neo-cons will yelped we need to invade Pakistan to secure their nuclear weapons and, of course, move on to Iran.

It is a political nightmare of the worse kind!

superdem - never were truer words spoken. Of course we have to get out of Saudi, Dubai and probably a couple more future retirement spots for the members of or current regime which could be a little awkward - otherwise out and leave well alone.

It''''s because of Islam''''s basic message - throw the infidels OUT.

Wow - lots of ugliness here today. If things get really bad in Pakistan, with prolonged rioting, if Musharaf is shooting people down in the streets, if he is deposed, I''ll bet Bush will try to put in American troops - after all they have the bomb. You know Bush has a plan on the drawing board. At the very least we will be supporting a police state. But we don''t have any troops to spare, do we ? Can we occupy yet another Islamic country ? Let''s see..we occupy Afghanistan, Iraq, and Palestine by proxy. We threaten Syria and Iran daily. And we wonder why Islamic fundamentalism is rampant. It''s because of Islam''s basic message - throw the infidels OUT. If we left, these places would achieve equalibrium and settle down. They do NOT want democracy, Islam is NOT democratic. We cannot force democracy down their throats, and like Hamas we won''t like the governments they elect. Getting out is WISDOM. The more we meddle, the more they hate us.

Look at all the money that Bush wasted in this country. We never knew this unless something lie this happens. A coup? An American coup? Maybe. I think that she would have made a difference for the country.
