You make it sound like the last decade plus of Republican majority/White House control (and concurrent misgovernance) never happened. If you''re satisfied with how things have been going (9/11, Iraq, Katrina, torture, all that good stuff), vote for more of the same. If you''re dissatisfied with America going down the tubes, help finish what was started in ''06.

Both are very dangerous. It%u2019s not congresses fault entirely. Neither side holds enough votes to get anything done. They need to work together for the common good of us the country but I think that is a passing dream. No matter if a Democrat or Republican gets the Whitehouse next year without the numbers changing in congress nothing is going to change but who can you trust. This is one poker game I would rather sit out because there is so much at stake. What would you do? I guess im looking for some advice. Lew

Lew, sometimes the gridlock is a good thing. It seems everytime these idiots get bipartisan it ends up with Bush getting authority to launch wars, the patriot act or Banks squeezing consumers through Bankruptcy "reform".

Your post is interesting and true. In my opinion the only solution is that the people of this country vote out every incumbant and hope the next group does better. I don''t believe in voting for a party but voting for a person regardless of his party if he is a good person.

I''ll tell ya whats cheap about it too: Its a god damned teevee commercial. A promise! The promises you make.. a god damned teevee commercial. "Oh! We''ll git ya out of Iraq! Oh! We''ll bring back peace and prosperity! Oh! We''ll do it fer de children. Oh! We''ll bring back America''s impeccable reputation."

A 30 second ******* spot during a football game.

Here is an interesting question and would like some other peoples input. While the Democrats hold a razor thin majority it sill is not enough to get mostly the 60% vote needed to get anything done enters the veto pen. So what to do? Give the keys to the Whitehouse and congress to the Democrats with a veto proof number of representatives or keep it the way it is for another 4 years of gridlock. Both are very dangerous. It%u2019s not congresses fault entirely. Neither side holds enough votes to get anything done. They need to work together for the common good of us the country but I think that is a passing dream. GOP In-Your-Face school-yard politics can be stopped in local and general elections. America CAN become a "do something" country again when ultra right wing Republican phony dogma is demolished. Bring American out of the Dark Ages.
