Depends on where you live. BTW, rule of thumb is if you have $1.5M of net worth, do not get long term care insurance.

..............

Good advice.

And the location, location, location, makes a big difference in the money, money, money, one would spend for their senior living needs!

In the San Francisco Bay Area region, $4,000 a month for a quality assisted living facility is the norm. A 3 hour drive North to the Redding area (above Sacramento) and the monthly cost for a quality facility is around $2,500 to $3,000 a month.

(Just like you said in your post).

DR RON PAUL UNDERSTANDS HEALTH CARE
Dr. Ron Paul., an OB/GYN physician, has been the national leader in preserving our Health Freedom. He feels that Americans are justifiably concerned over the government''s escalating intervention into their freedom to choose what they eat and how they take care of their health. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), in order to comply with standards dictated by supra-national organizations such as the UN''s World Food Code (CODEX), NAFTA, and CAFTA, has been assuming greater control over nutrients, vitamins and natural health care providers to restrict your right to choose the manner in which you manage your health and nutritional needs. He introduced the Health Freedom Protection Act, HR 2117, to ensure Americans can receive truthful health information about supplements and natural remedies. He supports the Access to Medical Treatment Act, H.R. 2717, which expands the ability of Americans to use alternative medicine and new treatments. He opposes legislation that increases the FDA''s legal powers. The FDA has consistently failed to protect the public from dangerous drugs, genetically modified foods, dangerous pesticides and other chemicals in the food supply. Meanwhile, they waste public funds attacking safe, healthy foods and dietary supplements. He also opposed the Homeland Security Bill, which, in section 304, authorizes the forced vaccination of American citizens. The government should never have that kind of power. Vote YES for Dr. No.

WERE HAVING A TEA PARTY! YOU''RE INVITED
As we all know, freedom isn''t free in this country. Therefore, in the wake of our successful fundraising event of November 5th, in which we all came together to raise $4.2 million dollars for Ron Paul''s campaign, we''ve set yet another date for an even bigger fundraiser. This one will take place during on December 16th: a very important date for people who love freedom and hate tyranny to ring the Liberty Bell, and let our sold-out, globalist, political ****** and their mainstream media enablers know that good Americans are mad as hell, and that we''re not going to take it anymore. December 16th is the 224th aniversary of The Boston Tea Party: an act of protest by the American colonists against the tyranny of Great Britain where the Sons of Liberty boarded British ships and dumped crates of tea overboard into Boston Harbor. It was a key event which helped to spark the American Revolution, and we hope this event will, likewise, add additional spark to our own 21st Century political revolution to restore peace, prosperity and freedom to our Republic by helping elect a President whose record of adherance to The Constitution is unmatched by anyone in American politics. Please join us this December 16th for the largest one-day political donation event in history. Our goal is to bring together 100,000 people to donate $100 each, creating a one day donation total of $10,000,000. The time to act is now. The time for Ron Paul is NOW! TeaParty07.com

RON PAUL FIGHTS BIG PHARMA
People have gotten wise to the fact that vaccines are contaminated with DNA fragments, viruses, fungus, mercury, and a cocktail of other poisonous toxins. Fleets of reputable studies have been published globally detailing the wide swaths of destruction caused by vaccines, including autism. So, now the establishment is on the offensive, attempting to bully us into submission. Big Pharma is one of the biggest businesses in the world. It is among the top three purchasers of advertisement in print, TV and radio. Thay have major pull. President Bush recently vetoed a Bill which would have forced Big Pharma to remove mercury from vaccines. If that''s not bad enough, parts of the so-called Patriot Act contains provisions that essentialy removes the spectre of civil liability against Big Pharma with respect to vaccines. This was done under the quise of protecting Big Pharma in case they had to quickly develop a vaccine to combat some form of biological terrorism. No other candidate understands health issues as well as Ron Paul does. He not only supported the Bill which would have removed mercury from our vaccines, he voted against the Patriot Act as well. Dr. Paul., an OB/GYN physician, who has delivered over 4,000 babies, has been the national leader in preserving our Health Freedom. He feels that Americans are justifiably concerned over the government''s escalating intervention into our freedom to choose what we eat and how we take care of our health.

Starleo,

It probably depends on where you live.

Where I live, a very nice assisted living facility runs about $4K+/month with a $200K bond returned at death.

In small towns to the north, a very nice assisted living costs $1,800/month with no bond and no contract........ Fortunately, parents do not like to move and they enjoy the small town to the north.

Medicare in the small town is excellent and pays for nearly everything. Here, all doctors do not accept medicare.

Depends on where you live. BTW, rule of thumb is if you have $1.5M of net worth, do not get long term care insurance.

I think we are the only country that just treat the elderly like with no respect. What wouldn''t your parents do for you if you needed it. Give the elderly a little respect our government doesn''t.

Oh boo hoo. What percentage of your parent''s income do you think they spend on raising you? I think 10% of your income is a fair price to pay for all that they sacrificed for you. And if you raise your children right, they will do the same for you.

Probably not FeelFree,

But if all the CBSnews.com web designers/managers walked out...

...they''d probably have to hire $2/hour engineers from India to take over.

Oh wait....

...they already have!

Guess the only solution is not to live too long--but before you end it all, send a Repugniscum on ahead to light the way to hell for you! Guess that could be another solution!

Mom, Dad...

...Don''t worry, I know your job at McHardees Junior ''n the Box and TargetMart seem degrading to you at your age (70''ish), but new laws require employers to be more accommodating to senior citizen employees (yeah right).

This may seem morbid, but if you''re lucky, at any given time, a big heart attack will strike you and your pain will only be minimal and last only seconds. You clock in at your remedial, pedestrian job... and you clock out somewhere close to the store''s main entrance. This way, you won''t have to suffer for years either losing your memory or losing the use of your muscles and/or joints.

This is the way I''m looking forward to leaving this earth when I am in my 70s or 80s... while working at a similar remedial job as both of you are doing now. Clearly, a "retirement" is no longer in my future outlook (and basically erased from my vocabulary).

But either way, we will all have to take care of each other till the bitter end, in this 21st century.

Thank you corporate America!..........(you ********)

Mom, Dad...

...hopefully, if or when your health begins to suffer, your Medicare (if it still exists) will be a big help in paying for some care taker to help you during the day while I toil away at my job (for however long that lasts).

If Medicare doesn''t come through, I''ll just have to hire an illegal immigrant named "Margarita"... you know... like the rich folk in Hollywood do. She will take care of you during the day while I work.

Dad, if only your (Enron/World Com/etc.) retirement savings and pension still existed. Your lives, in your final years, would have been so much better.

When the babyboomers begin to get into their 80s and older, their children will mostly not have the financial means to care for their parents and themselves at the same time.

For the Gen X''ers (upper 20''s to upper 30''s), it is hard enough to just keep a roof over OUR heads, food on the table and a working car in the garage.

...oh yeah, and our mortgage bills, gas bill, and healthcare premiums just went up again!

Mom, Dad...

...I''ll sleep on the couch, but I hope you don''t mind sharing the bathroom. My one bedroom condo is all I could afford on my $35,000 salary!

Thank you corporate America!......... (you ********).
