They are all on the "TAKE" it is not fashionable to serve the people with honesty and dedication any more.

From the top to the bottom tier of our government, they are all have their little scams, whether from Big Pharma and Corporate America or free excursions around the world for dubious seminars, to days off and favours from suppliers for the lower ranks.

Serving the people honestly is a long forgotten profession.

"I sure don''''t know who those people are. I have worked for the Government for 25 Years and I have not known anyone who did not use frequent flyer miles or paid out of pocket when they wanted to upgrade. We are not authorized to fly business or first class and the transportation offices we have to use to book our official travel are well aware of the rules governing such travel and, in my experience, follow those rules. "

I agree completely! I have worked for federal government for 32 years and have experienced the exact same circumstances regarding official travel. All official travel is controlled and issued by one travel office and upgrades/luxuries, as cited in this article, are never authorized or approved by the controlling authorities. My experience crosses 2 states and 5 different government facilities and official travel is handled identically in each facility.

After sitting on his . . . er, thumbs . . . for four years, it''s both amusing and pathetic to see Norm Coleman suddenly wake up to the fact that he has oversight responsibilities. There''s nothing like having Al Franken breathing down one''s neck to focus one''s attention.

This is the administration whose managers gave themselves bonuses that were intended for rank-and-file employees. Note that this story names government "officials" and "executives" as the free-spending high-flyers. Pres. Commander Guy and Dip Cheetey aren''t the only big shots who have treated the U.S. Treasury like their own bottomless piggy bank.

Also, Norm Colemouse is not "the head of the subcommittee on investigations" - the Dems control all congressional committees - but it sure was nice of CBS to promote him!

That''s because it''s not just true for the current administration, the Clinton boys and girls did it too as every administration before. Self rightness attitudes doesn''t fit either side very well. All bureaucrats and politicians are lairs, and thieves sucking on the public teats for all they can get before they retire, or before they are caught.

The story is mostly about the GWBush appointed Executive branch. Not once in this story is this fact mentioned.

This story is the epitome of the saying "Penny Wise and Pound Foolish!" The Government is wasting billions of taxpayer dollars on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and this article is focusing on the Government wasting a few dollars on First Class plane tickets! Duh! ***
