Wiktionary, the free dictionary. The Sabbath (or Sabbat) is a weekly day of rest and/or worship that is observed in the Judeo-Christian faiths. The term derives from the Hebrew sh%u0101bath "to rest". It originates from the last day of creation, and was repeated in written form when given to Moses at Mt.Sinai as the 4th commandment. Ten Commandments. Jesus also kept the Sabbath, from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset. A number of other religions have a similar practice.- Reply to this comment

- Numbers 15:32-36
32And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.
33And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.
34And they put him in ward, because it was not declared what should be done to him.
35And the LORD said unto Moses, The man shall be surely put to death: all the congregation shall stone him with stones without the camp.
36And all the congregation brought him without the camp, and stoned him with stones, and he died; as the LORD commanded Moses.

- It is a waste of time trying to argue with brain-washed bible-thumping baboons. People who organize their lives around fallible texts are surely building their houses of belief on shaky ground. They will learn when the house collapses.

Wrong--- Jesus himself said that building on his rock ,would insure stability during storms.Building on sand (world views ) would result in destruction. Christianity has endured 20 centuries of persecution ,yet thrives, but many immoral nations and powers have collapsed during the same time. - Reply to this comment
- JG 19:22-29 A group of sexual depraved men beat on the door of an old man''s house demanding that he turn over to them a male house guest. Instead, the old man offers his virgin daughter and his guest''s concubine (or wife): "Behold, here are my virgin daughter and his concubine; let me bring them out now. Ravish them and do with them what seems good to you; but against this man do not do so vile a thing." The man''s concubine is ravished and dies. The man then cuts her body into twelve pieces and sends one piece to each of the twelve tribes of Israel.

if you want to use the scriptures to mock God, looks like you''re in a heap of big trouble Then the LORD said to Moses, "Take the blasphemer outside the camp, and tell all those who heard him to lay their hands on his head. Then let the entire community stone him to death. Say to the people of Israel: Those who blaspheme God will suffer the consequences of their guilt and be punished. Anyone who blasphemes the LORD''s name must be stoned to death by the whole community of Israel. Any Israelite or foreigner among you who blasphemes the LORD''s name will surely die. leviticus 24:13-16 BLASPHEMY (through the Fr. from Gr. . . The common law of England treats blasphemy as an indictable offence. All blasphemies against God, as denying His being, or providence, all contumelious reproaches of Jesus Christ, all profane scoffing at the Holy Scriptures, or exposing any part thereof to contempt or ridicule, are punishable by the temporal courts with fine, imprisonment and also infamous corporal punishment. - Reply to this comment
- Ezekiel 9:4-6
4And the LORD said unto him, Go through the midst of the city, through the midst of Jerusalem, and set a mark upon the foreheads of the men that sigh and that cry for all the abominations that be done in the midst thereof.
5And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity:
6Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.
WHY WOULD THE LORD NOT ONLY APPROVE, BUT COMMAND THE MURDER OF LITTLE CHILDREN?

This is EXACTLY what I was going to say to you! How prophetic...
I would add that YOUR delusions are of the self-fulfilling variety.

- DT 21:10-13 With the Lord''s approval, the Israelites are allowed to take "beautiful women" from the enemy camp to be their captive wives. If, after sexual relations, the husband has "no delight" in his wife, he can simply let her go.

- The reason for the loss of faith in people like Ma T and the decline in the belief in God is RELIGION. God is real and just but you wouldn''t know it by His followers. Jesus is merciful and compassionate but you won''t see it by observing so-called Christians.
In the ''me'' world we live in, self-gratification (and self-justification, as well) rules the day (and the heart). Philantrophy elicits sneers, sacrifice disgust. Who wants to be a servant/slave? Who wants to be LAST and not FIRST?
Of course, the RCC (Roman Catholic Church) is one of the biggest of the Pharisaic religions that turns millions AWAY from (not to) God.
The RCC is identified in several passages of the Bible, notably 1Timothy 4:1-3 and Revelation 18:23-24.
Sadly, the Reformation and the resultant Protestant religions did little to restore the message that Jesus taught. Instead, they threw out everything that was good about the RCC (holiness, sacrifice, servitude...i.e., "works") and kept all that was bad (tradition, ritual, and dogma...i.e., the Trinity, etc.).
Satan is alive and well on the earth, laughing and sneering at a world he has deceived.
Jesus'' question as to the condition of faith when He returns has never been clearer:
"... But when the Son of Man comes, will he find on this earth anyone with faith?" (CEV) Luke 18:8

- Mother Teresa proved that humans have an INHERENT ability for infinite compassion - god or no god! She was a human being first and last - and any attempt by any religious organization to take credit for her work (which the catholics and the vatican have been doing all along) is just plain shameful.
Besides, there is no better proof of the non-existence of this imaginary god than her life-long doubts. Of all the people, she should know - she witnessed first-hand the intense human suffering and had the common sense to doubt that there would be a "creator" out there who would be so cruel to his "creation". She was tormented all her life precisely because the ridiculous claims made by the church were so in contradiction with her observations. She would have been more at peace with her work had she not been bound by the shackels of the church''s ridiculous dogmas.
The moral of the story - religion is a fantasy whose time has long passed. Let''s set aside all this harmful sectarianism and learn to live as one, drawing upon our INNER divinity to exercise compassion towards all. - Reply to this comment
- As usual, all of the discussion tries to use the physical world to prove or disprove the spiritual world. The ancients didn''t separate existence, but saw the duality of thought and the physical existence as interconnected and inseparable. Because of our scientific method, we tend to make the two separate and to require physical "proofs" of the existence of a Creator. Our spiritual journey is a reflection of our brain programming that allows us critical thinking: the innate need to look for patterns and order in our existence. In ancient times, education was associated with the priestly class. Therefore, the best minds were focused on the spiritual. Currently, our best minds are focused on science and commerce. The last great genius-philosopher who tried to integrate these two worlds of perception was
Bertrand Russel. We are poorer for the compartmentalization of learning and thought, and the modern concept that intelligent people who study the physical world must put aside the spiritual because it is unproveable. Doubt and questioning teach humility--a virtue often sadly lacking in today''s world. - Reply to this comment
- I understand how she felt Mother Teresa, we have gone through situations that may have us feel that way, but even if we do I know God is real and I also remember the book of Job where he experience situations that he could have lost his faith but he didn''t, I know my God is real and from this he will pick me up, so don''t lose the faith even if we don''t hear him or see him he is real I know that when I had a near death experience and at other times, it would take too long to explain, God has blessed this country but we have turn our backs on him not all but some.

- If Mother Teresa was successful in constructing long-lasting institutions that have benefited a society and a diversity of cultures, it was because she recognized the commonality of all peoples in need, regardless of their faith or religion, and a need for miracles brought about through blood, sweat and toil rather than from a magical God flattered by something so infinitely cheap as faith.

- hmmmmm, we still have those that tell themselves that if there is a God why doesn''t he just fix everything and or show himself? Actually he did and you and I hung him on a cross. Jesus was either a lunatic, can a lunatic dream up the consistent sayings and truths as Jesus does? Or he is a liar, can a liar go through life remembering all their lies and not get caught by the numerous people that surrounded his public life? Or he is what he says he is, God.
