Comments on: Teens Lobby Hill For New Immigration Bill
"Dream Act" Would Give Kids Of Illegal Immigrants A Path To Citizenship Through College Or The Military
- As a teacher that has great communication with the children and parents of these illegals, I can assure you that they pay taxes. I had this argument with a family about four months ago as they told me that they were hoping that they would give licenses to illegals. I said, I don't think so because you don't pay taxes. The man that I was speaking to got up and when to a box that he kept on top of his refrigerator and showed his pay stub where he pointed to a little line that said what was deducted from his PAY CHECK (as a vineyard worker) as taxes. And as if that was it, he then showed me his income tax form for the past year with the amount that he had to pay and a receipt along with it. ILLEGALS DO PAY TAXES and because they do PAY TAXES, I don't see why they can't stay. AND THEREFORE, WE ARE NOT PAYING FOR THE EDUCATION OF THEIR CHILDREN, NO!!!! NO!!! NO, THEY ARE HELPING PAYING FOR THE EDUCATION OF OUR CHILDREN.

- Those of you who think that illegals don't pay taxes, it just isn't true, no matter how many times you say it, it doesn't make it true. We all pay taxes, income, federal, state, FICA, SALES tax on groceries, tax on gas, city taxes, etc. I just don't want to hear the lame argument that illegals don't pay taxes. The fact is they are probably the ones propping up social security. They pay in under a false number but never can they hope to cash out when they become 65. I know several kids that fall into this category that the dream act could help. All I think that they should do is the kind thing. Do what you would do for your own children. Think about it.

- ILLEGALS PAY TAXES TOO!!!!!! ARE YOU DEAF?
ILLEGALS PAY TAXES TOO!!!!!! ARE YOU DEAF?
ILLEGALS PAY TAXES TOO!!!!!! ARE YOU DEAF?
HOW THE HELL COULD THEY GET AWAY WITHOUT PAYING TAXES?
BLIND CONSERVATIVE:"Ah because they're illegal."
SANE PERSON: "There is no way that the IRS would allow anyone to get away with not paying Taxes." - Reply to this comment
- I am 100% against illegal immigation, and don't feel any exceptions should be made. Although these kids did not knowingly break our laws, their parents did. Those parents should have applied for legal status, but since they failed to do so, they've lost the right to be in this country.

- This bill is patently unfair to legal US citizens and their families. It allows in-state tuition to illegal aliens but not legal US citizens!!! This is a disgrace and any Congressman who votes for it should face retribution at the polls. It is another attempt to social engineer our country into third world status. This is magnet for further illegal immigration. No border security. No enforcement of existing laws. And, the illegal alien who meets these requirements gets to legalize his entire illegal family. Enough is enough!!!

- Congress is going to shove amnesty down our throats with an endless stream of stories to pull at heartstrings. The American taxpayer is tired of being second class citizens in their own country.

- The Dream Act is a rolling amnesty with no time limitations, plus it is a magnet for further illegals. Congress wants to enact this before securing our border and enforcing our laws, doing away with chain migration and outlawing anchor babies! I don't think so!!!
After the ideal illegal student is legalized then his illegal parents get to be legalized also & guess who pay the benefits for illegals and their low-skilled relatives? American taxpayers!
This is more social engineering by the likes of Ted Kennedy to bring America to her knees, to third world status. Get ready to tell your Congressman no more amnesties! They just don't get it---we're informed, ready to make sure these Representatives and Senators do not get re-elected because they have chosen to turn their backs on legal US citizens in favor of third world invaders!!! - Reply to this comment
- Maybe if we'd discontinue all entitlement programs America wouldn't be such a draw for illegal aliens.

- Wrong. We don't all pay taxes. A good percentage of people pay no federal taxes at all.

- Think about it... This country is a nation of immigrants. Unless you are an original Indian, we all came from someplace else. I think the basic problem here is that most immigrants have a skin color that is darker than white Americans. Sometimes I am ashamed of being a white because of the racial hatred some of you have. I think that if there were 15 to 20 million illegal Canadians here the opinions would readily change. I know that most of you work hard. The plain and simple fact is that there are those among us that won't work. Yes I'm talking about the teenagers and 20 something%u2019s that lay around on your couches with their holier than thou sense of entitlement. I'm so happy for immigrants to be here, legal or illegal, because they work very hard. And another thing for those of you who think that illegals don't pay taxes, it just isn't true, no matter how many times you say it, it doesn't make it true. We all pay taxes, income, federal, state, FICA, SALES tax on groceries, tax on gas, city taxes, etc. I just don't want to hear the lame argument that illegals don't pay taxes. - Who pays for college for these two? Haven't we paid enough to this family and why do they not have any inclination to go to their home country and help their people. It's the American kids who are going to third world countries and volunteering their time and service.

- illegally as children a path to citizenship by completing either two years of either college or military service.
Make them officer if the do college.....if not let them do their 2 years...they are smart they will figure out which one will get them where they want to go...One question CBS did not ask again...where are the parents? And how did these two brothers get their education? How was it paid for..hard work or freebies? - Reply to this comment
- another reality check as to the seriousness of this problem. illegal is illegal. perhaps they can make good use of their education by returning to their home country and helping the citizens of their country.deportation is the only way to have a fair and legal system where anyone would be welcome to help themselves to a better life as long as they follow the law. no amnesty! no vote for supporters of amnesty! i've said it before "the only people who want illegals here are either one of them, or expect to exploit them for personal gain." do not vote for any person who would give our country away to persons from another country.

- And the crazy nonsense continues undemocratic and illegal activities by judges
A GOD ABOVE LAW
Lawmakers seen possessed, obsessed by something to promote and advertise illegal activity, illegal immigration.
Why is this? - Reply to this comment
- Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-Calif would have us believe that 2 and 3 year old toddlers are both capable of understanding immigration law and also of overruling their parents' decision to bring them into the country. Certainly ignorance is no excuse, but one must be capable of understanding in order through intent or neglect to remain ignorant of the law. Those who innocently transgress should no more be held responsible for the crime than a hostage forced at gunpoint to participate in a robbery. It is not about amnesty, it is about humanity.
