CBS News Talks To The Family Of A U.S. Soldier Killed In Gang Initiation
- Nice try for someone who did not catch the lien on the diamond ( a Canadian Neil Diamond) debating with Natalie Merchant (a Canadian folk singer for the 30+ crowd) the branta goose ( a female Canadian goose). No knowledge of Margaret Trudeau (busted with Keith Richards for herion 1977)makes you younger than 30 or no knowledge of your own nation.

- And for the last time, gang members don't use military training. The military is not willing to do whatever it takes to win. It's against the Geneva convention. So they'd rarely use the training here. The survival training, sure, but there is a certain spirit to urban warfare that you can't learn in the Armed Forces. There's an animalistic nature to it that most only get familiarized with through rap music, and that only skims the surface. Sorry America, you are late on the issue this time.

- No drug problems in your nation, not in any of the provinces? Or not published? I do recall a certain ministers wife being arrested for drugs and having several affairs. Perhaps you are to young to remember Margaret Trudeau.

Maybe erasmus is forgetting that Quebec has voted to secede from canada. (or was it Canada from Quebec?) - Reply to this comment

Actually you would be wrong on everything EXCEPT the dry sense of humor.
I am well over twenty, married, grew up in the country and have traveled down the west coast of the U.S. and into Mexico. My parents and grandparents traveled extensively throughout the US and I also have relatives that live in the US. My parents also at one time owned property in the US. Nice try though! - Reply to this comment

No drug problems in your nation, not in any of the provinces? Or not published? Several people of notoriety have been arrested in Canada for drugs and with drugs come crime. I do recall a certain ministers wife being arrested for drugs and having several affairs. Perhaps you are to young to remember Margaret Trudeau. - Reply to this comment
- Now on the subject of Crime. Everyday it seems like I here of something horrific happening in the states.

I don't know of any place in Canada where I would have to "lock my doors and carry a weapon for self defense". The worst place for crime would maybe be Toronto. I have a brother living in Ontario and I have never heard of anything like that there.
And when something bad like kids being locked in cages, kids being handcuffed etc., we would all hear about it. It just doesn't happen very often. - Reply to this comment
- I hated it when they add part D to Medicare. They pick and choose. Sorry change of life.

How many litres are in a GALLON? Now take .80 times this. That is what you are paying a GALLON.
I do believe I nailed you in the previous post about education and age. - Reply to this comment
- Erasmus I take it you are quite young perhaps early twenties, single female who has never lived in the country, educated bookwise but not in the world as of yet. World knowledge limited to what one reads instead of actually visiting other nations and discovering what they are like for yourself. A dry sense of humour. Is this about correct?

"$2.71 per gallon where I live."

"We aren't afraid to air our dirty laundry."
NO KIDDING! You tell the whole world and then you don't want to hear what the whole world has to say about it!
(BTW) isn't that how you all stay out of the military, join the redcoats?"
Actually nobody has to do "ANYTHING" to stay out of the military. No one is forced to go into the military here. It is a persons CHOICE whether they go into the military or not. - Reply to this comment

Pardon, I had to go drink my Ensure, (chocolate)
I was telling an old joke I read in "Boys Life' when I was a scout. It alludes to the 'thriftyness' of the Scottish people and Im part Scottish myself so I have the right to poke fun at Scots also.
It goes like this (Now Mary, If you feel like death is about to take you, Please blow out the candles if I am not here) - Reply to this comment
- Maybe so many foreigners wouldn't be posting their comments about your country if YOUR media didn't have this incessant need to spew all your dirty laundry to the rest of the world?

In case you haven't experienced it in your own country it's called "freedom of the press." And you are the only one berating our country on these boards. You should make sure your own country is in order before criticizing someone else's country. - Reply to this comment
- Now on the subject of Crime. Everyday it seems like I here of something horrific happening in the states. Like kids being locked up in cages, kids being handcuffed and starved etc. We can go years without hearing that kind of stuff. Your country is breeding sickies.

Gas is currently 2.50 a gal where I live, perhaps where you live in Canada has more to do with crime than actual crime rates. Where I live there has been ONE murder in the last 20 years in the town itself, if I lived in the city it would be different. You have a better chance of being shot by accident during hunting season than being a victim of crime itself. Drive 30 miles, lock your doors and carry a weapon for self defense. The area I live in is growing and the only upticks in crime have been related to alchohol, *** and gambling. - Reply to this comment

"Noo Mary, if ye feel yerself slippin, blow oot th' candle."
Am I supposed to understand that? Like I said, there are times I don't get what you are saying.
"...and we will have to let Canada do it's own fighting for awhile."
Actually I do not recall the US fighting for Canada. In fact I think if we distance ourselves from the US we probably won't have to worry about any fighting. - Reply to this comment
