- I'm outta here. These message boards have brought out the net's lunatics and dregs. And as usual, the least intelligent among them have the most to say.
Take processor2, for an example. Not only can s/he not think, but even with a name like processor, s/he is still entirely clueless about using a computer and the internet. (Hint: You only need to click "Publish" once.) - Reply to this comment

As you well know, there WAS no Al-Qaida in Iraq until Bush created the chaos in which they flourish. - Reply to this comment

- "The invasion of Iraq was a monumental blunder. No one doubt Sadaam was an evil man capable of mass murder, but he was contained by sanctions and no-fly zones. "--markster6
Yes, the real enemies are in places like Pakistan. Bushit's stupid invasion of Iraq took on the wrong country. We should send a hundred million Hindus into Pakistan to wipe out the evil ones running that country. I don't think they'd need much encouragement, after the millions of Hindus slaughtered over the years by the Muslims. Muslims don't make many friends among their neighbors.
We'd be fighting the Islamists even if we hadn't invaded Iraq. That highlights Bushit's incredible ignorance and stupidity in attacking a vicious, but secular and ultimately threatenable regime. The Islamists think they're all going to end up in paradise, so welcome death. It's much harder to deter folk like that. And keep all foreign Muslims out of the USA until some of the so-called "moderate" Muslims we always hear about but never hear from get the guts to oppose the fanatics of their own religion. - Reply to this comment
- Occupation of Iraq has given the center stage to the Muslim extremists; the majority of reasonable moderate Muslims have been pushed away to the side line. If we keep this up, we will be fighting an asymmetric war - bus, plane and train bombings and even bio and radioactive releases by the terrorists. It will be war between people who sleep on bare ground and live on one unleavened bread a day vs people who eat steaks and live in houses with 3 car garages. Get ready. Its gonna last for a long long time. Bring back the draft. Get ready to give up all your privacy. Get ready to have a 666 ID chip inserted in your body so everybody can be tracked.

- "French intelligence acknowledges tracking about 30 people they know have left France for Iraq. A dozen are dead, a dozen more in custody. The rest have vanished, and the French admit they do not know where they are.
and some of them may be headed our way. "

- "In an otherwise upbeat assessment, Lt. Gen. Raymond T. Odierno, the second-ranking American commander in Iraq, told reporters that leaders of Al Qaeda in Mesopotamia had been alerted to the Baquba offensive by widespread public discussion of the American plan to clear the city before the attack began. He portrayed the Qaeda leaders%u2019 escape as cowardice, saying that %u201Cwhen the fight comes, they leave,%u201D abandoning %u201Cmidlevel%u201D Qaeda leaders and fighters to face the might of American troops %u2014 just, he said, as they did in Falluja"
The above quote (if quoted accurately) helps to underscore why we are in deep trouble in Iraq. First, the bad guys know what we are planning to do before we do it. Second, and most important, our generals fail to understand one simple fact. As Bin Laden said, the USA cannot be defeated militarily. It has too much air power, tanks, navy power, etc so they intends to defeat us politically and economically.
Let's face it, if you have a AK-47 and air power plus tanks, etc. and I cannot even begin to match that, I would also beat a stragetic retreat and live to fight another day. That is classic guerrilla warfare.
The war on terror is very very real. One day, I hope our leaders wake up and discover we have been fighting it in the wrong way and start using resources like the Special Forces. - Reply to this comment

- This was an excellent comment on an important issue, by 'fpsrv1' and bears repeating:
Re: "My buddies who returned from Vietnam were never the same. And the sons, daughters, mothers and fathers that are returning from Iraq will never be the same. Medical technology is a double edge sword because it keeps you alive today when you would have died in years past. The good news: "You're alive". The bad news: "You don't know who you are". The number of soldiers returning with brain injuries is staggering. The soldiers who managed to live through Iraq will be forever injured, either physically or mentally, for the rest of their lives."
"Our occupation of Iraq, will go down as one of the darkest times in US history." - Reply to this comment
- Yes. The average Bushie (not many left) can weave in and out of traffic at 70 mph on the freeway while listening to Rush Limbaugh tell them how in danger they are of losing their lives to terrorists. Simple statistics are lost on them.

- Given a choice between sitting on the bus next to a battle-hardened Iraq terrorist and your average American serial murderer, I'd pick the terrorist any day. The terrorist is disciplined, kills with a plan, and if he isn't planning on killing you that day you have nothing to worry about. The average American serial murderer is physchotic, and kills without warning for no reason. There's a heck of a lot more of them running around the US than there are Iraq terrorists in the world.
Just another poof story to rile up the Republican support base for the next election. - Reply to this comment

and i thot how odd
so many shades of tyranny
all with a common bod
and it occured to me
that inside the food chain
is some common thread
and some uncommon thread
and beside the food chain
is a different, physical / nonliving food chain
which, here and there, correctly rewoven might keep all well fed - Reply to this comment

"We are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then, when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right. Intellectually, it is possible to carry on this process for an indefinite time: the only check on it is that sooner or later a false belief bumps up against solid reality, usually on a battlefield."
