DRinUK,
Are you sharing notes with FARTKNOCKER2?

What do I have to do to join this exclusive club?
Eat lead paint?

I've heard that the total amount of water on earth doesn%u2019t change (except the amount astronauts **** into space). I suspect less snow fall in Canada, higher temps causing more evaporation and less Ice cover to prevent evaporation is probably the cause of water loss in Lake Superior.

But your welcome to cling to your well thought-out theories.

By the way, not that matters, but have you ever seen Lake Superior?

ianlou, you see, there's probably a very good reason and don't forget all those illegal immigrants, drinking a pint a day, soon mounts up or down, whichever the case maybe. My thoughts are that Cheney's sold it to the middle east or possibly that aliens are thieving it during the night, funny they have now found water on Mars.

pandamonium6,
I've heard that amounts of snow and rain in Canada north of Lake Superior provide the majority of incomming water, the locks and rapids at Sault Ste. Marie and evaporation determine the amount of outgoing water. I'm not sure that the the outgoing water at the Soo locks is adjustable.
I can attest to the warmer water, swimming in Lake Superior in Marquette Bay is great with temps in the 70's in July/August. When I was a kid in the 60s/70s the water never left the 50's range, you dived in and dived out.

Evaporation may be PART of the cause but it is not the WHOLE cause! I find it impossible to believe that the lake would drop 18 inches in 9 months...Thats the correct figure here...between September 2006 and May 2007 the lake dropped 18 inches. It has also been steadily declining over the past 10 years bit by bit. Clearly, there are other factors at play here. If CBS wanted to print the whole story, they should look at the loss of water at Detroit and the opening of the flood gates at the Souix St Marie as a possible cause. Global warming is a problem, to be sure but not the entire problem here.

J.Edgar Hoover once said that the conspiracy is so enormous, ordinary folks cannot either comprehend or believe it. Welome to that world.
