Re: "You may not agree with the war at all, but try to remember that the soldiers are only doing their jobs."
Their job is to defend the Constitution of the U.S. from all enemies, foreign and domestic. This is their sworn oath, in fact. Cooperating in an illegal fraud-based war of aggression in to way meets this obligation. The only U.S. true U.S. military heroes in the shameful and disasterous war against Iraq, are those who refuse to participate in it, in my opinion.
Re: "They need to know they're going to be welcomed home by caring people."
Welcome home!!! Not maimed, mentally scarred, or in a casket, but alive, and soon!!!
We need our soldiers back home, so that we can turn our focus on bringing those responsible for this debacle in front of a war crimes tribunal, and retake control of our government from the Corporate/AIPAC pirates that have seized power, as soon as possible.
Re: "Watch this video and remember the troops and what they go through, and what obstacles they might face! They are good people!"
Some are, and some aren't. At any rate, they have no legitimate business in Iraq, and should come home immediately! There presence in Iraq is not helping the people of Iraq or the people of the U.S. in any way. - Reply to this comment
- linjsmit,,, Just when is the job done ?? After going on 5 years we are back to square one... Iraq's government is no more ready to stand up than it ever was ?????
Oh, nevermind.... I think I remember what Bush said on the subject,, "We will leave when there is not nor more violence" - Reply to this comment
- j-whitman, no, I'm not trying to say that. It gets old ONLY hearing people talk bad & NEVER thank the troops. Don't try & speak for me.

- linjsmit,,, What you are trying to do is say that if we don't support you or Bush's terrible judgemntns & decisions we are against the military ===== It doesn't fly -- for the last 6 years Bush's failures have only hurt our Military & "Emboledned the Enemy"

- That's why we're not leaving until the job is done. All I'm saying is support the troops, I'm not trying to get into a debate with anyone. I've lived my whole life surrounded by the army and they all are good people. They deserve to hear that they are doing a good job, whether or not you agree with the war or not. I could actually care less if you think we should still be over there or if we should have gone over there in the first place, opinions can only take you so far in this world.

You must not have a loved one in the military. You just don't understand the fact that the soldiers are humans & they have feelings. You may not agree with the war at all, but try to remember that the soldiers are only doing their jobs. They didn't make the decision to start this war. They got sent over there, and they're just doing what they were trained to do. Although you don't support the war you need to support the troops.
"MAKE IT KNOWN TO THEM THAT THEY ARE FIGHTING FOR A REASON." They need to know that fighting for YOUR freedom to be able to post opinions on this website is worth it. If it wasn't for them, you wouldn't be able to voice your opinion. Just for that reason, you should be thankful.
"GIVE THESE SOLDIERS SOMETHING TO COME HOME TO." Like I said before, these soldiers are people with feelings. Its hard for them to be over there away from their parents, wives, children, and friends. They need to know they're going to come home to smiling faces. They need to know they're going to be welcomed home by caring people.
I'm not trying to change your opinion on the war. I'm trying to give you a little insight on how these soldiers might feel and what they appreciate.
Watch this video and remember the troops and what they go through, and what obstacles they might face! They are good people!

- linjsmit,,, We don't have the troops even with all on the ground now for the "Surge" around Baghdad & we need to do that all over Iraq & hold -- Iraq Army & Police can't do the job & going on 5 years later still aren't leading any mission.... We've even slowed down trainig them.

- Do you honestly think that these children were properly taken care of before this war started?
