Hmm...what year was it that the city of Atlantis sunk? If only these idiots could put all their efforts towards, lets see...improving education in this country, or....the list goes on.

Some years ago the government spent billions moving electrical lines because some scientist(s) said it was hurting the diary cows and interfering with milk production.

Turned out to be a hoax.

Y2K ...another really stupid hoax and really intelligent people fell for it and spent millions doing something that meant nothing with their computers.

Get a life.

I heard this similar *** in the 1970's, when all the
Liberal NeoCommies were WHINING about "GLOBAL COOLING".

I still have National Geographic's from the 1970's that has articles about "global cooling"

The same rhetoric existed then as it does today,
and it goes like this:

"Global Cooling is going to destroy the earth,
and it's America's fault".

Not much has changed in the last 30 years, EXCEPT, it's now "global warming" instead of "global cooling", but it's still the USA's fault according to these liberal idiots!!!

STOP GLOBAL WHINING,
STOP GLOBAL WHINING,

HEY,HEY,HO,HO, GLOBAL WHINING HAS GOT TO GO.
HEY,HEY,HO,HO, GLOBAL WHINING HAS GOT TO GO.

If you NeoCommies think I'm being ridiculous
with the above chants,
CONGRATULATIONS, you get my point

Global Warming? Global C R A P !! It is change, a similar change to what the Earth has experienced for many thousands of years. It has however triggered the greedy amongst us to capitalise and line their pockets, peddling scare stories and pandering to the prophets of Doom merchants. The Flim Flam men are having a field day as are many institutions and universties worldwide who are raking in massive research grants. It is also a fact that the established industrial nations are using it as an excuse to hold back both India and China, imposing regulation which will force up their over heads and final pricing. It is a SCAM

"Bottom line: Flawed computer models, flawed data, flawed conclusions.....the climate is changing slightly.

"slightly" is all it takes to melt glaciers and the antarctic ice sheets which in turn exposes more darker surface areas (than reflective white snow/ice) which absorb more UV from the sun which accelerates the process even more.
Ice only has to go from 32 degrees to 32.5 degrees to melt away.

" No real scientific data can support that it is caused by mankind."

Maybe, but photos don't lie, there's plenty of web sites showing historic and contemporary photos of snow capped mountains and the extent of glaciers and pole ice sheets, and when compared old with new the change is obvious- formerly snowcapped mountains that had snow year-round for all of recorded history are now bare or nearly so, glacier ice photographed in various locations by tourists and scientists 50-60 years ago when seen beside modern photos show the ice has drastically retreated- exposing valleys and land never seen before.
Its obvious there is a major change happening and it's started, can be measured chemically (carbon dioxide in ice cores etc) and visually since the 19th century industrial revolution, and sped up rapidly in the last 20 ~ years

Why is this news? Global warming has been going on for thousands of years...at least since the last ice age. North America would still be under a couple miles of glaciers, otherwise.
Venice has always been sinking. It is built on a muddy marsh. Many houses there have dozens of layers of floors built up over hundreds of years to prove that. Recent preservation efforts made building up the stuctures a no no to keep the historic structures unchanged. Therefore, buildings are sinking as they always have.

Old monuments being subject to the ravages of time and the weather is nothing new....

Its called....ENTHROPY!

"Global Warming May Threaten Civilization's Future" was the "abstract" to this "scientific report." What does it mean? Does it mean that this most recent study concluded that Global Warming may HARM civilization's future? Does it mean that this most recent study concluded that Global Warming will definitely THREATEN civilization's future? No. It's doubly weasled.

If this were a scientific report, then we should understand that this particular scientist was not certain that "Global Warming" would not "threaten" civilization's future

So now we are supposed to be motivated by someone's professed ignorance about the usefullness of climate models. And anyone who is not convinced by this profession of ignorance can be accused of "hiding his head in the sand" from known facts.

Face it. This "new international study" is not science. It is political propaganda. (Like most official "Global Warming" pronouncements)

If it gets too hot, it's global warming. If it gets too cold, it's global warming. Really hard to take ALGore and the other yahoos seriously.

One of my very good friends is a meteorologist with the national weather service over in St. Louis. Unfortunately, as does most everything these days, positions fall along political lines.

Bottom line: Flawed computer models, flawed data, flawed conclusions.....the climate is changing slightly. No real scientific data can support that it is caused by mankind.

Read it and weep.

"We may have to choose which of these monuments we try to preserve and which we allow to crumble and be lost forever"
I have a suggestion. Let's put a moratorium on all building. We will just stop building any new buildings at all. After all every last old building out there no matter how mouldering and rotted away is special, and we shouldn't ever think of tearing them down and making room for something brand new.
Old buildings are a royal pain in the butt. I ought to know, I bought one - a home, built in 1911. Anyone who thinks "oh how quaint" I invite to come with me when I set the rat traps every night because as soon as I trap out one family of rats and plug all their holes, another one had chewed it's way inside somewhere else and is running around in the walls. Or how about spending $25 a door *** getting them replated with brass - these are 90 year old doors after all, you don't just go buy new doorknobs for them from Home Depot that will fit the holes. Should I also mention the old tube-and-porcelain electrical wiring hiding in some of the nooks and crannies? Or the plumbing? Or the new furnace I had to buy when I bought it? Or the lath-and-plaster, boy when you knock a hole in that you just don't throw a drywall patch into it, you know.
Old buildings are overrated. The vast majority of them are of little interest to most people and merely serve as examples of how NOT to construct something.

Dont tell me the truth. Let me stick my head in the sand and shout the sky is falling. Try to undersand that what you are beleiving is a story concocted to help liberals find another item to hang their hats on. I beleive in the almight God in heaven. That is my religion I do not beleive this fairy tale that man is the cause of heating the earth .6 degrees over the last 10 years. That is too wild even for us crazy Californians. Check with the scientific people that know not your political hack running for an office.

The concern about global cooling was that pollution aerosols were found to be dimming the planet. It was a real effect. These aerosols also caused acid rain and emphasyma, they were greatly reduced by the Clean Air Act and the problem abated. Recently, a researcher found that the average temp in the U.S. in the three days after 9-11 was 1 C higher than in the days before or since. What happened? No air travel means no aerosol pollution. The effect is real.

This article is lame however. I can't believe a slightly higher temp and humidity is going to have much affect on monuments. Sounds like someones trying to 'trump up' the Global Warming hysteria (and I don't think it needs such trumping-its bad enough).

is it too much pollution, or too little? there's nothing wrong with swallowing the poison if you chase it with the cure! where's the cure? flying fruiting algae gardens or something sucking up all the poison as a delicious snack maybe?

The Bushitte lemmings always come out in force to discredit global warming science. I only hope when the warm Atlantic Ocean waves are lapping on the shores of Pennsylvania that they, along with Bush and his other immoral corporate cronies, do the right thing and disappear beneath those waters never to be seen or heard from again.
