Thank you for airing the story on Old Friends.It is a marvelous place for the race horses who gave so much joy to horse race fans. All the horses deserve a safe place to live out their lives, not just race horses.Let us not forget Ferdinand; and let us end the horrible fate that so many horses meet-let us end slaughter.

Wonderful piece about Old Friends but more importantly, thank you for addressing the brutal horse slaughter industry. I would love to see a piece broadcast exclusively on it. I became aware of "America's Dirty Little Secret" last year from timwoolleyracing.com while searching for Barbaro updates. Needless to say, I am sickened by this discovery. Since then I have adopted a horse rescued from slaughter. He is not old, not infirm or mean as pro-slaughter would have you believe. Pro-slaughter will have you believe that slaughter is humane. Not so and if you believe that it is I urge you to see a video. Please call your Senators & Congresspeople and ask them to support HR503 & S311.

Thank you so much for this story. It is heart warming and shows that there are many of us willing to help horses when they are no longer of "use". They still are valuable and deserve to be pensioned. This was a lovely story. Please air more of the same and less of the "Hollywood" garbage that seems to be considered and accepted as real news. Slaughter is not necessary, making tough choices and a heart felt commitment to a cause is all that is required.

Please go to www.hsus.org or www.saplonline.org to contact your state Senators and Representatives ask them to support and cosponsor the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act the bill numbers are HR 503 and S 311.

Going to the above websites you will see why it is so necessary to get these bills passed. There are 100,000 +/- young healthy beautiful horses being brutally and barbarically butchered ALIVE to feed the RICH in other countries. The horses are NOT old, lame and at the end of their useful lives. According to the USDA 92 % are in good health!!! Please help!!!
