Tens of thousands die from drunk driving, yet no one suggests we go back to Prohibition... a few thousand die from violent acts where firearms are involved and we get this huge outcry. There are so many people these days who have never been out on the farm and taken a little target practice with their father or grandfather (or mother and grandmother). When I joined the Marines, I was very skilled in pistol training. When the instructors asked me where I learned to shoot like that I told them "my mother".

Peace to the families of those who were killed.

Of course, the anti-gun nuts will use this very tragic incident to promote their political viewpoint..

Message to the anti-gun nuts:

Hitler believed in gun control....where do you stand???

Anyone who thinks that America's freedoms in the 21st century rely for their continuance on Joe Sixpack with his rifle in the back of the pickup truck, just isn't using his head.

Iceman,

You will have to explain your forward thinking to the many millions of gun control victim:

Brittan disarmed India after 1857 to maintain their rule. "Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms, as the blackest." -- Mahatma Gandhi

Here are a few others that I could remember quickly:

1915-1917 Ottoman Turkey, 1.5 million Armenians murdered
1929-1953 Soviet Union, 20 million people that opposed Stalin were murdered.
1933-1945 Nazi occupied Europe, 13 million Jews, Gypsies and others that opposed Hitler, murdered
1948-1952 China, 20 million anti-communists or communist reformers, murdered
1960-1981 Guatemala, 100,000 Maya Indians, murdered
1971-1979 Uganda, 300,000 Christians and political rivals of Idi Amin, murdered
1975-1979 Cambodia, 1 million educated persons, murdered

Do you think politicians respect American citizens because we can vote with our paper ballets? Do you think criminals respect citizens because of our ability to pass laws printed on paper?

Right or wrong, Ruby Ridge and Waco taught the government that people were willing AND ABLE to die to defend their way of life, and look at how our government was forced to respect that.

That is an outright lie. Since the increased controls placed upon guns in Canada and Britain, the rate of gun deaths, and of homicides over all, has dropped significantly. They are now, with Japan, at the very bottom of gun death figures.

then lets adovate the dropping of the age to drink / restrictions on alcohol to mirror that of europe as well... then maybe all the kids that die each year from bingedrinking will be reduced in this country. you dont hear of students in europe dying from alcohol poisoning like US campsus. lets also go the way of their health care systmen as well... nevermind detroit and cleveland hospitals are overrun with canadians crossing the border.

"The question we should be asking is why are law-abiding students with a valid gun permit denied their right to carry on campus for their own self defense?"

The question is : can somebody by a gun at the store next door without a valid gun permit ? immediately ?
just like a coffee machine ?

"I noticed Geraldo Rivera reporting this for hours last night, calling it a blood bath. I bet you he let out a huge sigh of relief when they announced the shooter was Asian, not Mexican." n.

Geraldo Rivera is not Mexican.

"Rivera was born in New York City, New York to Cruz Rivera Rivera (later "Allen Cruz Rivera"), a Puerto Rican, and Lilly Friedman, a Jewish American. He grew up on Long Island, New York. He is an alumnus of the University of Arizona, where he played lacrosse at midfield. From September 1961 to May 1963 he attended the State University of New York Maritime College, where he was a member of the rowing team. He received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1969 and later attended Columbia University. He was a lawyer for a New York Puerto Rican group, the Young Lords, and attracted the attention of a news producer when he was interviewed about the group's occupation of a Harlem church in 1970."
