All this discussion about Pelosi's jet isn't a total waste of time because it keeps all the idiots happy and reduces number of dumb comments on the other articles.

Why should Laura Bush, who has no real governmental duties, have a bigger plane than the Speaker of the House?

This is the most horrific abuse of tax payers money I have ever heard of. We pay for our own transportation to and from work. And I understand her position deserves transportation to be taken care of. But, there is a time to say enough already. A private lear jet is good enough or used what the last person in that position used. Just like the president dose or like anyone that gets perks on their position. You know as well as I that there are local offices of the US Secret Service that can that care of advanced landings.

Since when is 3rd in line given Air force transport? They are not important, any of them, as there is always 4th in line if they can't be reached. This is a gross misuse of public money, not to mention military funding. What about the emissions from this plane. Even Prince Charles flew over to America on a "civilian" aircraft. Is she too good to ride along with the common public. No plane for her at all or any speaker of the house.

You don't read, do you? Look at the first sentence in the article... got it? Now that we have that out of the way, look up the word 'chartered', that's c-h-a-r-t-e-r-e-d. Prince Charles 'chartered' a civilian airplane.

Fortunately, I dont think Americans, for the most part, are buying it. Except the wingnuts already so disposed.

Well said resqdiver4. Pelosis was simply a request, and a valid one at that. She did not connive and scheme her way to a larger jet the way a Republican would do, but asked the Air Force OPENLY and transparently. Even Bush agrees she needs and deserves a high degree of security and protection.

This is only a controversy because the right wing in the country decided it should be, in the same way that White Water became one in the past. It is an attempt to get people to forget the trillions of dollars and thousands of lives lost in a debacle in Iraq.

Fortunately, I don
