First of all I'd like to thank CBS NEWS for taking the time to report this story, and also allowing its members the opportunity to comment.

Once upon a time, in the beginning of 2007 we, the people were excited to see the formation of a NEW 110th US Congress. AT that time, we were assured by its NEW SPEAKER that she would see that House/Senate Democrats & Republicans alike would put aside their animosity, rancor, poisonous politics of personal destruction, and get back to doing the WORK of the AMERICAN PEOPLE. This congress was for real and was going to usher in The AGE of AQUARIUS.

In less than a month, with all the benefits & perks available to our representatives, this troubling story comes to pass.

SPEAKER: Never mind that I don't have to pay for these Items, BUT I Demand the Biggest & Best Military/Civilian Aircraft that the American Working Class can afford for ME.....for ME & MY Entourage.....Right now if not sooner.

Special thank you to CBS NEWS for giving its Grassroots Members. "The Rest of the Story"

Whoa, you seem to have a lot of inside information.
Who then asked for the larger jet while Pelosi
already has said it is not a big deal.
Headwinds, taxiways, jet streams, ATC, etc. etc.
Your a pilot?
Everything you have said is contradicted by the facts. Twin engine planes fly these routes daily.
Aha, your a politician and that's why what you say does not make sense.
Jeeeeez, gimme a break!
Jeeeeez, give everyone a break.
USAF-4 Years, and an independent voter who is not in awe of Washington pols and will not be bamboozled by anyone, Dem or Repub.

Please tell us all the source of your technical stats. If the info which Pelosi and the media have so cleaverly omitted from thier statements/reports, why not send some fact checkers after them? That is what Al Franken did to O'Reily.

1.All news reports say that Pelosi asked for the larger jet.
2. That does sound like a typical egotistical Washington request.
3. The two engine jets have a range of 2800 miles plus, no refueling.
4. That does sound like a typical megalomania-cal Washington request.

Definitely NOT 'Nuff said.

1. She didn't ask for a larger plane.
2. It sure does, especially the last 6 years. The military conversion of the 757e that she has been misreportedly asking for holds 200 passengers in commercial use, but abour 50 government big-wigs aboard it.
3. the 2,800 mile range is not reasonable for flying cross country nonstop. Headwinds, especially the jet stream westbound can play havoc with fuel consumption, as can weather, groud delays on taxiways, ATC reroutes for lots of reasons, and approach delays can all limit range. Good judgement requires allowing for these contingencies and that precludes a nonstop cross country flight plan in an aircraft with a 2,800 mile max range.
4. Repeat of item 2.

This 757 conversion that caries about 50 has often been used by people essential to our government. One of the regulars has been Laura, who it seems has been elected by nobody, is not a federal employee and is not in the line of succession, but it's safer for others than her driving.

This story has the air of Rove's involvement.

This is News?
Only in the larger context. Just a bubble in the bath.
It does, however, reflect the self entitlement issues that pols feel is their due.
In the meantime, yes, the big issues, the important issues, come second or less to their
grasp for power.
Sorry if I sound cynical. it is probably because I am.

Your article omitted 2 very pertinent facts; (1)Pelos DID NOT ask for this jet (2)the smaller jet could not fly to California without refueling, the larger jet could. But you did give plenty of air time to Republicans who jumped on this overhyped story.

Pelosi should fly, first class is okay, on commercial flights like her constituents do.
This arrogance will become more and more visible as the Dems take more and more advantage of their new power.
And so it goes.
