dj0114,No way do I accept Reagan as a great president no matter how many expensive office buldings and memorials are named after him.

That's ok ......... the American people showed their love for this great man as they lined the roads and avenues of this great nation during his funeral, by the millions......

Reagan was against civil rights, equal rights for women, equal housing and ran huge deficits. He openly questioned whether history will judge Martin Luther King Jr. a Communist before signing the bill that made MLK's birthday a national holiday. His 'voodoo' economics gave rich people great tax breaks that the middle class had to clean up under Bush 1 and Clinton. It was under Reagan's presidency that companies got the ability to stop funding retirements for people and invented the IRA and 401K (ask people in Enron and Kmart how that worked out for them). His feeble hands were soiled in the Iran-Contra affair. His presidency allowed for the presidency of the 1st Bush- another mistake which had the effect of giving us his even worse son years later.

No way do I accept Reagan as a great president no matter how many expensive office buldings and memorials are named after him.

I still consider myself a Reagan Republican. I remember when I was in the Navy in Norfolk Virginia in 1979 (Carter was President) seeing signs on people's lawns that said "dogs and sailors keep off the grass". I can remember civilians didn't want us around. Bars around ODU use to charge military folks a "cover charge" to get in......... they wanted to exclude us. When I left Norfolk in 1982 (Reagan was President) all of that had changed 180 degrees...... no more signs on people's yards and the bars around ODU no longer hit military personnel with cover charges....... they actually loved to see us.
Reagan was a great leader ..... he made America proud again.... we miss him a lot.... especially now that our liberal MSM wolfpack along with theri pals, the DEMs, are back to telling us that were a "bad" people. This is sad indeed...

Ronald reagan was arguably the greatest president we have ever had. The only bad thing I can think about Reagan was he didn't bomb the hell out of Iran or Syria. Perhaps if he had 911 would not have occured. My dads a working class man. I've never seen anybody work so hard. He voted for Reagan twice And still talks about how great he was. I was 5 when reagan came in. I was 8 when he was reelected. That was the election that got me started on politics. I remember the neighbors on walfare hated him and wanted Mondale. And reagan Made me proud to ba an American more than anyone else ever has. Starwars works great in fact parts of it will be deployed shortly in Israel to soot down incoming Katushas. We also now have the capability to shoot down any north korean missle over north korea. We need another Reagan.

Jimmy Carter was clearly the worst President ever. That's why Americans flocked to vote him out in favor of Ronnie.
Under Jimmy Carter we had:
1. double digit unemployment
2. double digit inflation
3. double digit interest rates
4. Gas lines
5. horrible morale in America.
Americans especially poor people suffered greatly under the Carter administration.
Thank God for Ronald Reagan
Liberals stop trying to rewrite history....

Ronald Reagan was arguably one of the worst presidents EVER. Mr. Codpiece's comment sums it up succinctly. In addition to those things, he also shut down many of the mental health facilities by slashing funding, leaving many without care. We are still feeling the effects from that. The Reagan years were horrible for working class people, by and large.

There's nothing to celebrate about this man.

Hack historian Brinkley states the Reagan "made you proud to be an American."
Oh yeah?
The Great Communicator -
Tripled the national deficit -
Sold arms to a terrorist group - the Contras.
Manipulated the release of American hostages in Iran to coincide with the national elections.
Claimed to have "torn down the wall" - when he had nothing to do with it.
Bragged about the "Star Wars" defense system he was creating to protect America -
How's that working out?
Brought integrity to the oval office -
how's that going W?
Reagan didn't make me proud to be an American.
How can I put this acdemically?
He sucked.

President Reagan is clearly one of the very best Presidents this country has ever had, for so many reasons. I for one would like to see the media celebrate (more) his life and accomplishments as a way to help this country through difficult times of war, and to teach the younger generation what American values, freedom and individual responsibility are all about.
President Reagan was an optomist lighting up our country and the world.

CBS Evening News is biased in favour of the Republican party and their supporters. Arnold Schwarzenegger appeared in Seven separate clips during Monday's programme. Sandra Hughes's report was so sycophantic that she seemed to be working for the GOP. CBS is clearly supporting the Republicans in the Elections and giving them lots of positive exposure. It's no wonder that CBS News is losing so many loyal viewers to NBC.
There's not much difference between Fox News and CBS anymore. CBS is copying Fox. CBS recently gave hate-filled Rush Limbaugh a platform. It was a slap in the mouth to Americans who have relatives suffering from Parkinson's or Alzheimer's diseases to see this bully and racist mocking them.
