Comments on: Fox: I Was Over-Medicated In Stem Cell Ad
CBS News Exclusive: Parkinson's-Afflicted Actor Tells Katie Couric He Wasn't Acting In Ad
- If you have never seen or know of someone who would benefit from a cure using stem cell research all you need to do is take a look at Michael J. Fox. He is showing us how he and millions of others are live with these disabling and life threatening diseases everyday. Just imagine seeing your spouse, child, grandchild, going through the fight that Michael J. Fox goes through everyday trying to control the symptons and knowing that there is no cure available. Imagine taking your loved one to a doctor and knowing they will not be given medication that would cure them. Wouldn't you want research to be done to find a cure and if that meant wanting the government to spend dollars ...Wouldn't you want that for something that might help millions of people and even someone close to you who suffer everyday from these degenerative diseases? Stem cell research could be the answer...

How gay, dude. Another reason libs should be allowed to abort their own. You must be the product of embryo research gone wrong. - Reply to this comment

I'm a "religious conservative". I'm an extremist? You know, I really don't give a rat's a$$ if you dingbat liberals hack up your own unborn and abort your own kids. The only thing we believe is:
A) Federal dollars shouldn't be used to fund Dr. Frankenstein. If you stupid libs want to waste your money on these freaks, have at it
B) The issue of abortion should be left to the states. If you want to move to Calipornia and have an abortion doc squirt your dead kid out of your girlfriend or wife, have at it pal. In my mind, the less born liberals, the better! - Reply to this comment
- The Ad. is not about Michael J. Fox.
To even dignify Bush (oops, change the B to an R as in "Rush" to Judgment) is to cloud the issue.
The Ad. is an attempt to clarify and gain support for an important position that unfortunately has been forced by the extremist religious conservatives into a non-issue, through more lies and disembling.
I have Copy Pasted another post because the only issue that is at stake is truth:
"the following text is excerpted from the ACTUAL bill and - wouldn't you know it - it is in the very first part of it:
(1) No person may clone or attempt to clone a human being.
(2) No human blastocyst may be produced by fertilization solely for the purpose of stem cell
research.
(3) No stem cells may be taken from a human blastocyst more than fourteen days after cell division
begins; provided, however, that time during which a blastocyst is frozen does not count against the
fourteen-day limit.
(4) No person may, for valuable consideration, purchase or sell human blastocysts or eggs for stem
cell research or stem cell therapies and cures.
(5) Human blastocysts and eggs obtained for stem cell research or stem cell therapies and cures must
have been donated with voluntary and informed consent, documented in writing
We need to support this bill for the good it can provide humanity.

- "Life is sacred, but it%u2019s ok to kill people who kill"
"Since your life was threatened by a murderous attacker, it%u2019s great with you if he is killed now"
By now all can see where you stand. You're OK with defending the life of the guilty, but you're not OK with defending the life of the innocent. People that live under brutal dictators, and human life that hasn't been born yet.
Both have one thing in common: They can't speak for themselves. It's just their bad luck, right klinca? too bad for them.
I didn't claim anything about myself wanting my attacker to be killed. However, because I care about others, I don't want others to be harmed by this murderous thug, and I don't want hard earned tax dollars spent to keep him alive. How evil of me. - Reply to this comment
- "Your soldier volunteers are not just sacrificing their own lives, they%u2019re killing many other people and ruining generations of lives"
What are you saying, that our soldiers are murderers? If you believe that, you can't be an American. If you are an American, you don't deserve to be one. - Reply to this comment
- "I hear we%u2019ve killed over 650,000 Iraqis"
klinca, where's your info coming from? This may be contributing to your problem.
We didn't come close to killing that many in WWII, let alone a 2 week war in Iraq. It would've taken about 5 ICBM's just in the right spot to accomplish that.
Saddam took out half a million in 25 years of slaughter of his own people. Think about your totally skewed facts. - Reply to this comment
- klinca, you've outdone your previous post. Basically, you're saying:
A) The life of a lab rat is more important than a living human embryo
B) Human Freedom has no value. If we all lived under oppressive regimes, that would be just fine with you (If this is a reflection of your own life, you need to see a specialist)
C) The sacrifice to do good by others, even if it means killing evil in the process, isn't justified (Murderers have rights too!) nor has any value
D) Because we (The US) may have made mistakes in the past means we shouldn't try to save the oppressed now
You're right. You're not on the fence. You're sitting smack dab in the middle of strict liberal socialist-communist secular belief.
No problem here. A liberal that admits he's a liberal. The first step to correcting a problem is recognizing you have one.

The Dj who resorted to kiddy insults on a such a serious issue should be sacked! It's alright to laugh when your health is so good! I can't believe the idiots they put behind a microphone these days. I mean atleast research the area your criticising before launching in brainlessly with juvenile insults and poor degrading immitations! He ridiculed nobody but himself that day! And he obviously knows nothing about parkinsons,.. and probably not much more about anything else! But ignorance is no excuse when you have such a big public platform.
Mike, my girlfriends diabetic and you have our support! It's ridiculous to think that medical advancements in the area are being held back by DJ's with negative IQs and people who think that stem cell research=human clones!- Reply to this comment
- People do not want to be told what to do! They want what they want when they want it and how they want it with no regards to the consequences it may bring down the road if not right now. People want self answers and not right and wrong answers and then they try to justify there self answers as being good for everyone else as if they are right. This religion people speak about is there own mirror for not doing right but about doing self. Hope is not hope when it is used wrong and it is not hope when it is self. Compassion is a good word but not in the hands of a self centered person who maligned its meaning. If these people who are seeking answers to the problems surrounding them would turn to the source of all hope all compassion all answers they would be satisfied. Jesus wants you to invite Him into your life so you would have the answers needed to solve the problems that surround your life whether it be looking at the issue of stem cell research finding out if its right or wrong. The Lord will give you the answers needed to resolve the questions facing your life right now. Trust Him today.

- klinca,
Wow, you worked on that for an hour and a half. I must have really struck a nerve when I found you using your "stupider" word. I, unlike yourself, do not claim to be perfect.
I admit I could use some ,I had to quit school in the fifties to help my mother raise my six younger brothers and sisters after my father died.
I am proud of what I had to do, I would not change a thing.
Jesus said, "Let thee among you who have never spelled a word wrong, or put a comma in the wrong place, cast the first stone" or words to that effect.

- Good for you Michael J. Fox - you are a fighter and we can all learn from your courage.
It seems to me that those opposed to stem cell research have not been faced with watching a love one of their own have a steady decline in their health, with no other option but to watch it happen. Those that oppose stem cell research on moral grounds do not understand the meaning of the word "compassion". How do these people sleep at night? - Reply to this comment
- Whoa prismsinc: I%u2019M sitting on a fence?! Just listen to yourself! Life is sacred, but it%u2019s ok to kill people who kill. It is to spin my head.
Your soldier volunteers are not just sacrificing their own lives, they%u2019re killing many other people and ruining generations of lives, including some even you might find innocent. And who are the guilty, when we have invaded and occupied a sovereign nation on false grounds? Did Saddam kill 500,000 people? If so, he did it with US help. I hear we%u2019ve killed over 650,000 Iraqis. Are things fair and balanced now? When can we stop? The 3,000 dead at Ground Zero%u2014say, can we please have an investigation of 9/11? I%u2019d like to know how that third WTC building fell down, and why the hole in the Pentagon wasn%u2019t big enough for the plane, and why the air traffic control tapes were shredded, and why this president hasn%u2019t been impeached for dereliction of duty. Can we start there before we %u201Cjustify%u201D further killing?
Since your life was threatened by a murderous attacker, it%u2019s great with you if he is killed now. Why can't you above all people find it justifiable for people attacked by deadly diseases to fight back, even if it means sacrificing another life in a Petri dish. It's the same thing, almost, except%u2026the Petri cells aren%u2019t a person yet and would then be able to live on in other ways. Unused, they%u2019d die in a wastebin. - Reply to this comment
- I didn't finish my thought when I was talking about being so anal and weird about life. Being THIS weird, I can tell you that eventually you reach a point where you have to face it: Saving all life is futile. You just can't do it and it wouldn%u2019t be a good thing if you could. If you could not only save but PLANT all the seeds of all the tomatoes, you would run out of earth and time. And what can you ok-ly eat? Is it ok to eat or wear an animal that you didn't kill? Is it ok for an animal to kill another animal, when you wouldn't? Is it ok to kill a plant, even? [And on and on%u2026] Like, nobody else even goes there, but these are things I wonder about.
Here's the conclusion I'm at so far: Great or small, EVERY LIFE comes with its own wisdom, its own guidance system, call it God. The tomato seed will grow into a tomato, that's its business. And every life will die. There%u2019s a circle, there%u2019s a cycle, what goes round comes round. Do the best you can with where you are with what you've got, and in the end be humble. You can never know enough.
Killing for righteousness and vengeance doesn't impress me much. It%u2019s still hypocrisy to me. If you can justify it to yourself and feel YOU must do it, I guess that's your business, and who am I. But please don't do it in my name. That%u2019s my business. Likewise, if a parent should decide to donate an embryo, it%u2019s not your business, it%u2019s theirs, who are you. - Reply to this comment
- I seriously doubt that the number of pregnant women who request abortions will increase because of their desire to help further scientific research. A 12 week old embryo will never sustain life on its own. What is important is there are many unwanted children inhabiting the world now and I am not seeing too many of you trying to take care of them nearly as much as you are the unborn embryos that are not viable outside of a host. I find that remarkable but across the board with the right to lifers the compassion ends where the actual child begins. Embryonic stem cell research is a necessary step in abating and stopping many of these diseases in their tracks. It is a no-brainer. Unless someone is well-versed in understanding the scientific mechanism behind the research they should keep their own ignorance out of the argument. Stupidity only allows more stupidity to breed and then it writes letters which lend further credence to my argument. I was equally appalled when Rush Limbaugh dared to make fun of symptoms he knows nothing about. I have seen many patients with Parkinson's Disease exhibit far worse symptoms in their disease than seen on this commercial. He seems to forget what cesspool he crawled out of and needs to get back in there before he makes anymore fun of people and their diseases. Diseases follow no political lines and do not play favorites, unlike politicians...and overfed gluttons like Limbaugh.

- why on earth didn't katy grab this poor man's hand? what kind o cold hearted woman could sit this for 37 minutes and not touch him, are you so brainwashed by your media training that you couldn't put this poor man at ease and as for Rush Limbaugh, please he is the anti-christ, he is the epitome of a right winged ***-hole it doen't affect me so i am going to scare every dimwit out there who believes me. this man is so irresponsible, he can't deal with his own issues so he has to bash a totally innocent man struggling to save his life, i dare anyone to ask themselves is this was my son, my brother, my father, would i vote yes or no?
