Good on you AnAmerican! I started out life as a Republican, but turned Democrat in the early 90s. I've never looked back. Lord knows the Dems have their share of troubles, but all-in-all, they strive to benefit folks in my walk of life as oppose to the Republicans who i view as self-serving and hypocritical better then yous. Hey to "Stopneofabs", have you served your country? My father fought at the Battle of the Bulge, my husband served in the navy and our son completed two tours of the gulf in the Marines. So, as a Mother, grandmother and memeber of this country's public I believe that when people are running around cutting down military people who ACTUALLY SERVED THEIR COUNTRY AND DID IT DURING WAR, then asking our young people to go to a country we invaded without justification and a plan, to be blown apart they should know that it doesn't matter which side of the fence your on you should not be denegrated by a bunch of neocrates who are more interested in staying in power then doing what's right. Funny, seems the Republicans aren't too good at serving but are real good at sliming those that do, yet their the ones who are hell bent on us STAYING THE COURSE, whatever that means, so the corporations and political fat cats can line their pockets. Stopneofabbs, I would like to ask you about your level of education. You've proven yourself to be arrogant, but you also sound uneducated. You've gotten just enough talking points from Hannity and Limbaugh to be dangerous. You rant about fascism, but do you understand what fascism is? You don't seem to know enough about the basic tenets of fascism to distinguish it from socialism. The things Republicans hate about the Democratic Party are socialist, not fascist. What are some identifying traits of fascism? Extreme nationalism, the use of scapegoats (***, non-WASPs) to rally their base, religion intertwined with government, disdain for intellectuals, corruption and the manner in which corporations get in bed with government (Halliburton, Bechtel, Big Oil). Also, the demonization of anyone who disagrees with them ("defeatocrats", "moonbats", "traitors"). That's just a short list, but does that sound like anyone we know? Do yourself a favor. Spend some of that time you waste being indoctrinated by Hannity and Limbaugh and read a book on the matter. My old Social Studies book from junior high would be a good start.

This new pro-torture law allows the the administration to detain indefinitely without any judicial review ANYONE they label as a potential threat including US citizens.

Apparently 'stopneofatbs' never read the CBS Forum Terms of Engagement that he accepted when he joined this forum.

CBS says: "We expect heated, robust debate, but comments should be polite and civil."

Of course CBS fails to enforce it's rules unless they get a direct complaint.

The growing level of intolerance in this country is appalling. When The White House defines anyone who voices a dissenting opinion on Iraq as a traitor and agrees that torture is acceptable they fuel this behavior.

We are spending hundreds of billion to supposedly "spread democracy to the rest of the world", but allow our own democratic rights to be destroyed.

I love contentious races and the more negative the better. These make for great entertainment. The Iraq war isnt that bad. Weve lost what 2500 soldiers now in three and a half years? Thats pretty good as far as wars go. Wake me up when we hit 60,000. As for Murtha what did he do? Bad mouth Bush. Big deal! What I don't like about Murtha is he is in a position to make a differance and he hasn't. All he wants to do is tow the liberal line, Instead of trying to solve problems. Democrats are trying to tear Bush down and if they have to destroy the country or have a few solders killed to do it fine. Frankly I won't support a party thats does these things. I'll probably vote Republican down the line. Because I'm sick and tired of the Bush bashing. What purpose does it serve to call Bush an idiot. The are so maniacal in their beliefs that pretty much anyone who doesn't support the war, no matter the cost, no matter how failed it might be, is not really an American. So here we go again, maybe we should start swifiting the swifters, let's see we have corruption, *** scandles, Halliburton, IRAQ, AFGHANISTAN, the budget deficit, the Schievo debacle, Abranoff, and Cunningham, surly there must be something we can think of to let people know exactly just how these so called PATRIOTIC AMERICANS have lived their lives!They are the lowest form of scum and this administration invented them. Maybe we can find a U.N. investigative unit to come in and oversee our election to make sure it's ethical, just like we do with the third world countries, which this administration is hell bent on making us anyway. I think we should make Ney, Cunningham and Foley the keynote speakers at the Republicans next convention, with a big picture of Abranoff in the background smoking big cigars and holding wads of cash with his arm around Bush and Rove!
