I am a Vietnam vet; I was proud to wear the US Navy uniform for 4 years.

My records are open to anyone who requests to see them.

So a simple question. Why doesn't Murtha just publish his military records and the circumstances of his medals.

We went through this with Kerry, who also refused to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he earned his military distinctions.

If you disagree with politicians handling of a war on Iraq or terror, in this country you have the free right to state that. But it does not give you the moral right to defame the military to advance your own agenda. Why doesn't all the lying stop and the truth start. Americans are very receptive to the truth.

I hate the lying cheating slimy snakes that make up the swift boat liars. I so hope that what seems to be finally coming to all the holier- than-thou sooooo goody-goody republicans comes to them. Liars can't win against the test of time. Why should anyone believe satan's spawns?

bbrmer, you sound like a swift boater on the troll on the net. If Murtha's assessment is correct, the waste of human life and money is already tremendous. No one wants to say, "oops, we made a msitake, these people died for nothing" but if it is true, we better face it now before more American kids lose their lives in the black hole of violence that is Iraq.

Like many Americans, Murtha, a Korean and Vietnam war veteran who for three decades has been the pre-eminent Democratic hawk in the House, did not come quickly to the conclusion that the fight in Iraq will not be won by sacrificing more American lives.

A backer of the 2002 resolution authorizing George W. Bush to use force, Murtha remained a defender of the misadventure long after many Democrats, and even some Republicans, began to question it.

But when Murtha moved, he moved all the way. Describing the war as the result of "a flawed policy wrapped in illusion," he told Congress. "Our military is suffering. The future of the country is at risk."

The retired colonel, who during his thirty-seven years as a marine earned a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts on the field of battle, closed his address by saying what needed to be said, "Our military has done everything that has been asked of them.... It is time to bring them home."

Murtha is in desperate straits if the only "military" men he can attract are John Kerry, proven a prevaricator by the Swifties, Wes "which way is the wind blowing" Clark, and Max Cleland, who still hasn't figured out that veteran status won't save you when you have misrepresented yourself as a conservative to voters.

Pathetic.

Go ask the Bush regime why they are cutting VA funding for head wounds, the signature wound of the Iraq war?

If you really support the troops, go do something for our finest young men and women serving NOW - quit the 'smear and fear' tactics aimed only at preserving power for the self-serving, corrupt and incompetent.

First, John Murtha is now an ex-marine because he forgot what semper fi means. Second, he could release his military record if he's such a hero. We who doubt his record have good reason and have found that those who have something to hide usually do. Lastly, how many outsiders did Murtha bring to town and how many were paid to be there? I didn't know Max Clelland was from Johnstown, PA. I didn't see the 2,000 number used unless they counted every roach in that square. What money was used? Signs in town were put up by city employees and maybe even while on the clock.

It's almost amusing, if it weren't so desperate - the nonstopneoblatherbs posts - and endless series of ad hominem attacks designed to change the subject from ANYTHING but the morally bankrupt abject failures of what the GOP laughably calls 'leadership.'

Hastert and the rest of the 'Foley Five' made a deal with the devil for the sake of power and power only, and now the bill has come due.

And the equally morally bankrupt extension of that is the 'Smear Boat Veterans for Lies' campaign that will fail miserably, because after a lifetime of service and a voting record showing unwavering support for our troops Murtha is bulletproof - watch a real warrior stand tall against the attacks of the keyboard commandos.

gsn464 - Nice job
stopneofatbs - After reading all of the comments gsn464 is right. Sadly you are a very angry person and appear to be very much out of control. You are a perfect example of how Bush has gotten our country so divided. This all started pre-election (or shall I say pre give Bush the presidency thanks to his Daddys buddies on the Supreme Court)when he bashed John McCain so badly from his conservative hideout in a Georgia college. You need to step back and take a deep breath.

Really stopneofatbs, you would think one with so many degrees could learn to use a dictionary. The definition of facist taken directly from dictionary.com is "a person who is dictatorial or has extreme right-wing views." Don't worry though most of your extreme right wing buddies suffer from the same affliction (lack of ability to use a dictionary).

Nobody says that all democrats are perfect and certainly there are some corrupt democrats in congress though it would seem corruption runs rampant through the republican members of congress.

You can support them all you want but if republicans keep control of congress, you will probably be hurting more then me so why should I care about you. Unfortunately though I do care about Americans who actually have some common sense so I will keep fighting the policies this administration has been forcing down our throats.

One question though that really has me wondering, how can you sit there and defend a chickenhawk president and attack a real american hero. I'm looking forward to hearing the nonsensical answer you come up with for this question.

Flailin, hysterical ad hominem attacks filled with bitter bile and non sequitars hardly make the case for your viewpoint. Quite the opposite.

Thanks again for making the case for change.

At first I was upset by your posts, stopneofatbs. But the more I read I realized you're completely unhinged from reality. I'm guessing from your denigration of women and frequent use of the word "heck" that you're most likely from my home state of Utah. I would love to debate face to face. When are the visiting hours at your facility? Can we meet before they give you your med's so I can enjoy you at your incoherent psychotic best? You claim to have "several Masters' degrees" from universities and "other places". I hate to disappoint you, but the ones you cut off the back of your Lucky Charms box don't actually count. You've done nothing but engage in name calling of a rather infantile nature and I'm very sure your education goes no further than high school. Nor does mine. I fail to see how your vitriol moves this country forward. I also note how you have dodged the service question repeatedly. Any real serivceman is proud to acknowledge the fine men and women they served with (for me Aplha battery, 6/83 field artillery USAR). I suspect you suffer from delusions of granduer and really could use some help. But you are absolutely full of it. Answer one question honestly if you can. If this were 1996 and Al Gore were receiving large "deferred compensation" checks from a company defrauding the U.S. government, would you remain silent? Bad government is bad goverment no matter which side of the aisle it comes from.

stopneofatbs, congrats, your brand of extremist, hate filled spin and nonsensical slander will likely contribute to the demise of Republican control of the House. :D

We see once again the political wh0res in the GOP are out in force, having sold their souls and the safety of children in their care for last desperate fix of power...

Sad really to see where you pathetic excuses for human beings have taken the once Grand Old Party - though I take comfort in the fact that you have done more damage to your movement than any others ever could - Barry Goldwater is spinning in his grave.

Again, your ignorance is showing. If I were fascist, I would think that it's a great idea for the government to draw it's power from corporate might. And no, I didn't need anyone to tell me about the connection between Bush's corporate cronyism and fascism. Unlike you and most other flaming right-wingers, I'm capable of independent thought. I made the connection because of the basic political science I learned in high school, which I have since built upon.
With every post and every vapid, schizophrenic outburst, you reveal a little more about yourself. Several Master's Degrees? You can't even write a coherent sentence.

So, Stopneofat, you have several Master's Degrees in subjects that I can't even fathom. Try me. From one college grad to another. I would think that a man with several very impressive degrees, including Middle Eastern History and Politics, would know the difference between fascism and socialism, or fascism and theocracy.

Let me set the record straight. I am a member of the Swift boat Veterans for Truth which disbanded after the election of 2004. The word "swift boating" was adopted by the Democrats to identify anyone who "outed" their party members who exaggerated or self-glorified themselves with outragious lies about their service to this country. Because the term "Swift Boating" became the term for revealing the truth about claims made by liars in our country's positions of leadership anyone speaking ouot about lying congressmen/women are said to be "swift boating" them. The fact is that the opposition to Murtha is led by the VIETNAM VETERANS FOR TRUTH and the head of their organization BOOT MURTHA is Larry Bailey.
News organizations sympathetic to leftist Democrats will never get the truth before spewing their opinion to protect their favorites.
The truth is that one of Murtha's own, former Marine & former Congressman outed Murtha after Murtha blasted Marines before any investigation was launched.

Stopneofatbs, I asked a question of you in an earlier post. I asked about your level of education. Would you care to answer?

This is typical Republican double standard. They don't take full responsibility of their actions or lack of it. They try to lie their way to win or hold on to their seats. They don't care how many killed. Shame, Shame, Shame.

This will backfire on the republican party. The 40% approval rate shows Bush has already trimmed to the bone of hard core repubs- this kind of attack stinks of dirty politics and everyone knows it.
