- I cant believe I am reading all of this. You are so uncompassionate. Sit back and think about this for a minute, put yourself in these girl shoes...no really sit back and think about it. It's not as simple as it sounds, shes illegal, its wrong tell me how many of you have reported more lies on your taxes, tell me how many of you have drank and drove, talked on a cell phone while driving, not using your blinker while driving....hmmm what other illegal things have you dont today...well those things you did may have really impacted someone today in a not so good way. Many of the illegals are here because they WANT to do good and do the right thing. You are not giving them a chance or helping them in anyway you are critizing but I dont see you trying to find a solution to help them get there immigration documents. Nope, your sitting on here writing how illegal they are and making more laws to kick them out but none to help them do the right thing. So I suggest you stop focusing on them and focus on yourself and how to do good instead of being a bunch of inconsiderate, unhearted americans. Lets be a good America set a good example...remember 9/11 everyone needs to come together not be torn apart lets learn from our past mistakes and stop only being nice when tradegy hits but all the time. So tired of the bickering and families being torn apart its sad very sad. America time to grow up, gain a little compassion. Need I remind you kicking all the illegals out probably wont make our country any better, helping them get the correct papers will help them help us pay our taxes, pay our state fees such as drivers license fees, property taxes, so many ways they can help if you give them a chance.

- Illegals, CBS, not 'immigrants'. Immigrants face massive hurdles on the path to being citizens. You and others who 'welcome' illegal aliens into our nation diminish those, like many I served with in the Marines, who fought for a nation they desired to come to. Illegals, on the other hand, not only fill those high-publicity farm jobs, but they also fill those much-needed construction, cleaning, and factory jobs that you never mention. Walk into ANY remaining manufacturing plant in America today, on night-shift, and you will find an American bi-lingual supervisor overseeing 98-percent illegal ALIENS working factory jobs for half of what the company wants to pay real AMERICANS. Geesh the mainstream media is pathetic, and we know the truth our here. Tell the truth, just report the news, and maybe we'll come back from cable to watch it.

Mark Strassmann should be fired OR we the people should start boycotting your advertisers. This is in response to the title and the badly written article about immigrants fearing being torn apart. The title should have included "Illegal "Immigrants ... these people are here illegally, they did not follow the laws that ALL the Legal immigrants followed. If someone robs a bank, are they breaking the law, well these illegal immigrants are doing the same thing, except the bank is our hospitals and schools...... Please, fire this idiot and his boss who approved this article..JuanS

- Now isn't this special. Birthright citizenship at its finest. I guess its pointless to protest any of this kind of thing anymore. US citizenship no longer has any meaning as it is given away so cheaply. Really, I guess America is already lost because when you think about the signs, high long term unemployment, a hideosly corrupt government, useless public schools, trash everywhere and exploding birthrates, the US sounds just like Mexico. This was bound to happen because we are idiots.

- The title of this article is "Immigrants in Ala. fear families being torn apart". My family members are American whose parents were LEGAL immigrants. We KNOW the difference and so do most of the citizens of Alabama. This writer is an idiot and he should become unemployed immediately because the title should be "Illegal Immigrants in Ala. fear..." ...why mislead non-intelligent readers. These people are parasites on the USA. They use the Hospital until the Hospitals are bankrupt, they use the schools until they are out of funds and teachers has to be laid off for lack of money, they take "Our" jobs and do not pay taxes and some older ones get Medicare and social security with false id cards. How? When my kids went to school we had to show their real birth certificates, their immunization charts (that is preventive shots for disease). The illegal immigrants do not show those certificates because they do not have them and then they expose our children to the diseases of their 3rd world country, like mumps, polio, measles, tuberculosis, and many others. Do the country a favor and Write this paper demanding the firing of this writer and also his editor (Boss) and promise to boycott their advertisers. JuanS

- I love how people keep saying that illegals are taking jobs from Americans. Explain to me why the farmer has crops rotting b/c immigrants aren't showing up? Where is the line of Americans who got pushed out of a job picking produce. Spoiled americans like many who have commented here won't pick fruit for a living. For those emphasising that if they "robbed a bank" they'd go to jail..there is a difference in crimes here. If you speed, you get a ticket...if you have a small amount of marijuana...you get a ticket. So many of these people come here and work...don't you all realize that when they buy food, pay rent, buy clothes etc..they are paying taxes?? Give me a break...the real illegal crooks are our politicians who work only for the companies who send our jobs overseas to save a buck. THAT is who we should be so pi$$ed at.

- It is not hate, it is the law; a law that has been being abused by too many, for too long. It is time to stop the abuse. We hate being abused. We want it stopped. This is the way to stop it.
We have immigration laws to prevent many abuses-criminals, health concerns, overcrowding and others. Right now there just too many illegal immigrants in our country. We have long passed the man who sank the lifeboat using the lifeboat paradox in which everyone wants in the lifeboat but too many will sink the lifeboat.
We have an unemployment rate of 9.1%, 18 million Americans unemployed while we carry 18 million illegal immigrants. We have $2.2 trillion annual budget deficit while illegal immigrants cost Americans $2.2 trillion a year in welfare, health care and education benefits. Have you no sense of logic?
You might think, "Well, just this one." But there are 50 states and Washington DC, and if they all have the same attitude then we will still be violating the spirit and function of the law thus alienating all those who have followed the rule of law and those who are now following the rule of law by submitting to the proper application process. Also those in mexsicko who might in the future immigrate illegally.
The law needs to be applied equally in all situations to be fair to all and effective. Believe me we are all understanding and sympathetic but we can't allow the law to be abused. That is what is happening when people come here illegally whether they did it yesterday or 50 years ago. If you let people get away with this then every other illegal immigrant and the potential immigrants still in mexico will think they can also break the law and be forgiven later like these people.
Send them ALL back to be fair to all of them here, legally and illegally, and the ones still in mexico who want toi be here legally and illegally. - Reply to this comment
