- Oh yeah blame Obama. It had nothing to do with George W.Bush invading a country that had nothing to do with 9/11. The recession has nothing to do with him spending 900 billion dollars on Iraq. He knew at least the area of the world where Osama was, and he did nothing. I am no fan of Obama but this time it is no his fault nor will it be the next 5 presidents who sit while we are in Afgan.

- obama, if he was any kind of a commander-in-chief, should remove this general for basically making policy. as far as that's concerned, obama said he would end the wars during his campaign for potus. he has failed on that promise as well as others. obama should be removed too. iraq, afghanistan, now libya are a huge mess. obama wanted the job, they are his wars and have been since he was sworn in as potus.

- Dear General Whatever your name is. I, one of millions of US taxpayers, don't think you are the one who should be commenting on staying in Afghanistan since you don't have to pay for it. We wasted enough lives and money to now fully understand that we should leave. Sticking around just costs us more lives and money and we can ill afford to waste either or both any more.

- No matter how many lives, dollars, and years we waste there, the taliban will take back over when we leave. It's absurd the amount of waste. Either we should go in and win fast or get out. To win we would have to take over Pakistan and there's no chance we want to do that so we are wasting a lot by being there and staying there. We cannot win because the taliban hide in Pakistan in higher numbers than what fight in afghanistan. All they have to do is wait us out.

- Wrong answer. Get your ***** Army into 'WIN" MODE NOW AND GET TO WORK. tHE ARMY SPENDS MILLIONS ON SHELTER ETC FOR THE TROOPS - the Marines sleep in a hole and win wars! Get it done!

- I believed a long time ago that we should have planned on building permanent military bases on the mountain tops and attack positions with special forces while keeping our ground troops out of harms way with the mountain top advantage.
Just keep our military there and keep the enemy in the dark ages. - Reply to this comment
- We have a volunteer Army, Marines, etc...I think the soldiers should just say they are tired of being shot at and many of their friends losing their lives or being maimed for nothing...NOTHING. They Afghanastans have been fighting for centuries, we are not going to change them..we are losing the fight to keep our country from going into another Great Depression like in the 1930's. It's just like these career General's to want to fight on, they don't have to go into harm's way everyday. Bring our troops home and station them on our borders..Then they can catch the illegals who are bringing Heroin, GROWN IN AFGHANASTAN into OUR country. Please somebody stop the war. I am an older person and I don't want to die knowing we are still fighting in that God Forsaken Country. President Obama said when he was in the running for President that the first thing he would do would be to bring our troops home. Bring them all home. I admire the people in the military, I love our country but I don't love the politicans who have sent our people into harm's way.

- Guess again. We've been there to long as it is. It's an insignificant country of no consequence politically in the tribal stage politically. Nothing can be done. It's up to the Afghans. We've made a big enough mess of Afghanistan. Remember We encouraged, armed, trained and proxied the taleban in Our effort to humiliate the Russians in our war against the USSR. That war is over. Time to go. Enough of the hawks, noble peace, peace with honor, etc. There is no honor in the Afghans or in Our imposing our morals and ethics upon the Afghans. It's time to pull the plug militarily, monetarily and politically. Enough of the Generals, medals, campaign ribbons, war promotions. Enough already. Bring Our men and equipment home.

- Thank the military-industrial complex.
If we were focused on ACTUAL national defense, we'd be defending our borders and letting these nutcases deal with each other.

- "the plan is to win"
Please tell me what this means...? The fact that our goals there have gone from lies to nebulous objectives is troubling. It just means we will be there until the American people have had enough.
Thanks a bunch Presidents Bush and Obama. - Reply to this comment
