- When we debated possibly cutting Social Security in February, the Democrats and this Administration in particular guaranteed that we had 2.6 TRILLION in surpluses that could cover costs for decades. 2,600 billion in cash ready to go...
Now we don't have 23 billion to cover one month of expenditures? How did this happen? What happened to that 2.6 trillion in surpluses? Were they a lie to begin with?
Or are we lying now because the costs of August will be less than 1% of the surplus funds that the Social Security Trust Fund has amassed over the years and they're threatening seniors with a lie for political gain?
Is there another option? Can anyone explain how the Social Security Trust Fund has 2,600 billion so it wouldn't be a draw on Federal Funds; but also can't cover 23 billion in costs for one month?
I don't see any way except to state the Democrats clearly either lied about 2 trillion that never existed; or they're lying now to threaten seniors for political gain.

- Just WHEN are all of you 2 year olds going to stop with the blaming of an entire political party for what one or two have done....good grief, GROW UP. Anyone that blames an entire party is the same person that will blame an entire race for what one or a few have done wrong. Stop and think people, just how STUPID that sounds and is. Bush was an idiot and this president is a greedy piece of trash..... Spend, spend, spend and talk talk talk is all he knows.. WHY would anyone defend Bush OR this Clown is beyond me! Next time you vote....VOTE FOR THE PERSON AND NOT A PARTY.....Have some Common Sense....and this time vote for someone that at least has experience in running a company or at least running SOMETHING!! - Social Security is a self supporting program. If the Federal Government would not BORROW from the program and put in the general fund there would be enough money to support the program for years. They borrow and do not repay for their earmark special programs for their individual states. Leave the social security fund ALONE.
And, if the greedy representives in Washington cannot give us a balance budget, they do not get paid. Infact, they should be held to the same standards as they vote in for the American citizens who pay their salary - same medical care, pay into social security, limited retirement. - Reply to this comment

- It is a sad state of affairs when the very people who served this country in war are the ones who end up paying for the debts of this country!!!! Get rid of all the Politicians and lets get a business manager in the Oval Office!!!!!! Obama is talking about costing my family the roof over our heads, food in our stomachs, my cancer treatments and other neccessary medications because to him it was more important to be the "GENEROUS PRESIDENT" WHEN HE GAVE OUR MONEY TO THE BANKS!!!! - here are my thoughts..the congress,senate,federal judges,,president,, etc,should be made to lower their wages to $9.00 hr..no pensions.no social security checks ,no guards protecting them..no pork barrel stealing,,put all this money from them into the federal deficit..'' see how it feels like to do without''...we americans are supposed to respect our government but how can we when we are being stolen from every day..

- There is NO WAY Obama is going to get re-elected with this statement about No guarantee of getting our Social Security checks..In fact, I think he needs to be impeached...anyone out there want to start this ball rolling? I think all the politicans that are in office at this time should be voted out of office and we the people should start looking for some honest people to elect. Our country is going to hell in a handbasket and it is being let this way by our elected politicans..Our country owes
$1,152 billion to China, 907 Billion to Japan, 333 billion to U.K. 125 billion to Russia, 207 billion to Brazil, 155 billion to Taiwan, 238 billion to Carabbean banking centers, 122 billion the Hong Kong, 112 billion to Switzerland..and who knows how many billions to other country's. This is from a newspaper article in our July 4th newspaper. There were other stories of "The Betrayal of American Prosperity" written by Clyde Prestowitz a former U.S. trade negotiator and the author of the above titled book. The headling in the newspaper...U.S. more dependent than ever..yes we are and who can we thank for this mess...all the elected politicans, Obama, Boehner, the Democratic party leader, the Republican party leaders the Tea party leaders and people like Karl Rove, Dick Chaney,George Bush, B. - Went to a doctor yesterday to see him about have surgery. Knew something was up when I didn't have to fill out a history sheet. Did notice that this Dr wasn't taking patients who have a certain kind of insurance..didn't think mine was one of them as I have Medicare and another State of Illinois insurance. The State of Illinois insurance sometimes takes 9 months to pay. They owe millions to the school systems in Illinois. Millionsto the nursing homes and I don't know who else. Well, guess who got turned down to have surgery to relieve my pain..yes, I did.. Was told " would just have to live with it".
If Social Security checks don't get sent out, then millions of Senior will not have money for food, meds or home..I guess
