The Republicans also want a balanced budget amendment, which the Democrats will never go for.

Well, the anti American GOP economic terrorists aren't going to defund taxpayer subsidies to global corporations making record profits so something has to give.

Yep. Something is gonna give. I'm betting that taxes will not be raised, Obamacare is gonna fade into the night, and all those social programs cherished by the left? bye, bye........you scoff? Look at California's recent "All cuts budget".

If the GOP agree to a debt ceiling increase, they must demand swinging spending cuts BUT they must also demand tax increases. It's no good saying to your credit card company "Look, isn't it great? I've stopped spending." you have to make bigger payments. Neither do I buy the false logic that we have enough federal tax to meet our obligations. That's only obligations too our debts, not the citizenry. People aren't paying tax solely to service some one else's debt.

If no debt deal, only "very ugly" options left

The Treasury Dept. may have to temporarily stop paying soldiers and other federal workers if debt ceiling is not raised

LOL!

Really Timmy? You and Obama are going to stop paying the Military over other entitlements to keep the debt solvent?

Good Luck With That.........

Most government spending is ugly.

The US government should wake up to reality though. If they do not pay the military, then they will be guilty of breach of contract, with our "all volunteer" services, and those guys can simply walk away, and be legally able to do so.

I can understand the Republican's position. Obama is on the news now stating that he wants to come to an agreement now rather than 6 months from now or any closer to the 2012 election. He wants to do it now with the Republicans caving in, so that it will look as though he solved the whole situation.

He is just about getting elected again. That is 100% ALL he is about. He is afraid this presidency is the last job he will ever have.

Hey liberals, Obama said that you all need to stay out of Micky D's and "eat your peas" instead.
