- I decided to stop smoking after 50 years of it and my doctor prescribed Chantix which cost a bundle. I was hoping he would have given me one of those anti-smoking patches. I may be one of those rare birds who can quit cold turkey because I've now been on the wagon since November and have no urge to smoke again. My blood pressure was very high which gave me the incentive to quit. I still have the unopened package of Chantix beneath the bathroom sink. Glad I didn't take them after reading this article.
