- I would recommend getting rid of all investments with the 4 bankster houses Wells, BofA, Citi and Chase. Invest all your retirement funds in SRI (socially responsible investments).
Buy local and from small business only, whenever possible. Buy organic and fair trade products wherever possible. Downsize your vehicles and homes if possible and reduce energy use as much as possible.
You really can make a difference. Especially if millions do it. - Reply to this comment
- This is the second Great Republicon Depression and this one is worse because of the Class War started by the plutocrats. We MUST unite together to defeat the upper class. While we still can.

- We are in a full blown Class War with the military-industrial-financial complex. So far we are losing big time. We have to unite together and stop the plutocrats from pitting against each other.
Otherwise they will continue to go off laughing all the way to their (offshore) bank. - Reply to this comment
- What these corporations have done to America and it's government is not only traitorous. It is re-writing our history and re-defining American democracy.
If we let fascism (the merger of state and corporate interests) to continue to take hold, it won't matter who is President. Or what our Constitution says. We will have a slave labor system with a few filthy rich people deciding everything. It will be just like China under Mao, Russia under Stalin, Italy under Mussolini, etc. - Reply to this comment
- You hit the nail on the head. You can't blame Obama or even Bushoccio for the fact that big moneyed interests have seized control of the government. It's just that there are more traitorous pawns for the corporations, like the Republicons, than others.

- To get back on topic:
The unemployment numbers are not solely or even primarily due to actions by the government -- except those in government who are trying to fire or lay off all the public sector workers.
(Did you think they aren't among the unemployed?)
The UI numbers are because the private sector found out they could run their businesses and make equal or more profit with fewer employees and employees that are not American. They are not going to hire more people if they do not need to, even with tax cuts and other handouts from the government.
The government needs to instigate programs that start up new industries (see Research and Development funding) and create new jobs -- such as, for example the Work programs that were done in the 1930's.
Hiring the chronically or long term unemployed (many of which have become unemployable due to lacking skills, advancing age or other factors) to do jobs repairing our crumbling infrastructure, for example -- is a totally legal and Constitutional use of our public weal... the General Welfare of the country being at stake and all! - Reply to this comment

The NRA sticker may have also been a factor...? - Reply to this comment

Fact is you could not have voted for him unless you voted in a Republican primary.
Ron Paul did not run in the general election.
For the record. I like Ron Paul, I don't agree with all his policies, but I respect how he sticks to his principles, a combination of liberal and conservative ideas. Now, his son...? No way!

I agree, Rand Paul is a neo-con parrot in tea bagger clothes. - Reply to this comment
