- Don't blame Obama. Remember beginning in the 70s when one by one steel, autos, textiles, furniture and many other industries were being shut down and given away, with nothing in return ? Each time pronouncements from Washington assured us we were better off, citing pension and medical costs and the need to phase them out in favor of cheap imports. (Just appropriate some token money to retrain for $10/hr jobs and the rest of us will be on our way) And optimists said don't worry, dreaming loudly of the coming high tech information age, the magic bullet that will someday propel us from the abyss. Unfortunately 21st Century policies were never adopted and today, decades later, those same voices are largely silent as high school students fall further behind in math and science, the majority of advanced technical degrees are awarded by America's finest universities to foreign students, and U.S. corporations systematically export advanced technologies and import thousands of H-1B engineering and software professionals from the vast pools of talent in India and China from their newest R&D centers. And neither are they saying much about the billions of dollars flowing into banking industry bonuses at a time high school teachers in math and science are lucky to have jobs, never mind the mediocre pay. What's suddenly different? - the sources of "wealth" that masked these structural deficiencies are gone: inflated real estate prices, consumer credit, and wall street flimflam. What should be clear by now . . . . dysfunctional policies like these explain growing deficits, bankrupt governments, and ranks of jobless Americans far more accurately than the temporary effects of a recession. We can only hope elected officials soon provide real leadership. True superpower status can not be sustained much longer by a superficial debt ridden economy built on derivatives, strip malls, $10/hr jobs, and cheap imports at Walmart.

- The real story of President Obama's pitiful economic recovery is seen by those who can not find work. This nation is in trouble, and this administration has made matters worse. The President goes to Chrysler to brag about saving union jobs (jobs of his supporters), while his policies have crippled the nations free market real creators of jobs.
I'm glad to see people working, union or non-union. It is not really happening; we are not turning unemployment around. The failed policies of President Obama, Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi must go. Outrageous and irresponsible blowing of $trillions that the American taxpayer does not have must go. Enough of the federal government gorging itself and fattening itself on $14.3 trillion of borrowed money. This nonsense must stop.
Fixing this mess is going to be painful, and none of us will enjoy it. However, the longer we put it off the worse it will be. This nation is in serious trouble, and we can not afford to conduct business as usual with massive government programs running in the red. We must reduce the federal government to a manageable size and scope - one that the American people can afford. We can no longer afford to cripple the private sector economy with massive and bloated government.
We need leaders who will tell the American people the hard truth, and have the guts to make the hard decisions. Paul Ryan's budget was a step in that direction, but the political hacks that call themselves Democrats and the dreamers in the press attack any one who attempts to correct the massive problems that we have with hard decisions. Anyone with any sense at all has to see that we can not continue this course of unaffordable massive government. Both President Obama's Deficit Commission and the CBO have stated that what we are doing is unsustainable. It is true.
We were in trouble when President Obama took office, but his bad medicine has almost finished off this nation. The government has made promises that it can not keep... promises made in exchange for votes. Now we have to deal with false promises, and return this nation back to affordable and limited government before it is too late. - Reply to this comment
- The real problem with unemployment is all of the people who had cushy, well paying jobs get laid off, that they expect to find a job that pays just as much. When they are probably poorly trained and can't even do their old job (which is why they got laid off in the first place). These people need to get off their high horse and accept work where it is available.

- Two years without work. Two years of unemployment benefits? Benifits run out and now he's found a job? I wonder how much of their "home equity" they had borrowed to get into their sorry mess. Perhaps after all tis settles out the American people wll see the wisdom of personal responsibility and actually save some money for a rainy day. One can hope but I doubt it. The govt teat is just too appealing.

- tellingthestory..if you don't like CBS...why the heck are you posting on their website. FYI, Bush did nothing when jobs went overseas and the manufacturing plants all moved to China. He did nothing when millions of illegals came into our country. He did nothing when 90% of our Rx medications manufacturing plants were moved to India. Bush, Cheney and Rove started a war when there was not reason for war and they told that there were WMD's and the U.S. needed to go in and take over the country.....there were no WMD's..now our country is billions of dollars in debt, our government borrowed billions from China..why are this hate from you about Obama..if you don't like what is going on in our government, get our and get elected from your area and do something about..there sure isn't anyone of interest in the Republican party at this time..Do something constructive to help our country, go help the people who lost their homes in the tornado's. Nothing nor anyone is perfect and WE ALL need to work together to elect someone who will help bring our country out of the debt we are in..the way we can all do this is to buy American made products..there are many places you can google up and buy American made products..this is what we do and we also own an American car. We read all the labels on anything we buy including toothpaste (Colgate is made in Mexico). Complain to your local Walmart, K-marts, etc that you want to see products made in America, not China, Pakistan, India, Mexico, etc.

- How can CBS act like it even cares about the HUMAN face or tragedy when they more than another network ( 79 % Positive reporting for Obama VRS 31 % for McCain ) in the last election are responsible for the total incompetent Obama being allowed to be in the white house hurting everyone in the first place. We should be able to bring a class action suit against CBS and MSNBC who were almost as bad.
The total Liberal bias in the Main stream media is completely out of control. We no longer have news from the networks we have LIBERAL PROPAGANDA. ABC was a little better not by much 59 % Positive for Obama 41 % for McCain and CNN a Cable News company was about the same as ABC but FOX was the only channel that gave nearly a perfect 50/50 . That is why the Liberals attack FOX day after day they do not want you to have the truth only their PROPAGANDA. - Reply to this comment
