- Some white supremacist group already got away with vandalizing some train tracks in this area. Remote areas, easy to do and get away with.

- "Although there was no real indication that bin Laden was in a command and control posture for al Qaeda," "documents grabbed from his compound reveal that to the very end, bin Laden was still at the core of al Qaeda's operations."
Just wanted to put those two statements made in this report, back to back, to see if that made any sense.
No, I don't believe it does. - Reply to this comment
- "There was also data on financial transactions confiscated and analysts and investigators are trying to follow the trails, looking to further develop linkage to supporters pertaining to fundraising, cash flow, and other networks feeding into al Qaeda. CIA analysts will try to develop the source of his funding and people responsible for fund raising."
If there is anything that would cause sleepless nights for Pakistan's ISID, ulcers for Ali Zardari and Youssef Gilllani and bedwetting episodes for Pervez Musharrif; the prospect of our finding all that out would be it. - Reply to this comment
- Thanks Janet, we're scared now. Looks like the Democrats have embraced the concept of perpetual war masterminded by Karl Rove. Rove brainstormed the concept under the Bush Administration. Essentially, the intent was to create a more or less permanent state of anxiety within the national community by conjuring up a war that had no end. Since wars with other countries usually end after a while, the enemy in Rove's eternal war would have to be somewhat ubiquitous or omnipresent as opposed to an enemy having a relatively fixed size, location, and identity. Thus was the beginning of the concept of the War on Terror.
The War on Terror was supposed to align the country behind it's leader, George Bush, and his politcal party, the Republican Party. It would be a war so terrifying that no one would dare abandon their leader and his party for any reason.
It kind of worked and might have continued to work for Bush if the Iraq War hadn't been de-frauded and Rove hadn't been forced to leave his lair because of investigations into wrongdoing. Now it looks like the Dems and Fatherland Security have become fond of the concept. I wondered the other day why Janet released information that informed all of al Qaieda that the Seal Team acquired more than just Bin Laden's death. I would have expected substantial disinformation instead implying that time and resource constraints caused by the downed chopper resulted in their inability to obtain records. That might have kept a few sleeper cells from bailing their hideouts as quickly as possible though I suspect virtually all did regardless when informed of the news. Maybe there was no genuinely useful info regarding terrorist locations and other important information and so releasing information on same wouldn't have compromised any operation to investigate same but with all the stuff the government withholds from us daily, it seems odd that it's all but provided a categorized database of items recovered from the Bin Laden mansion. Then again, if they spoke of blowing up a train, then it would only be right to inform the public of the danger of riding on trains. I'm just glad I don't own any stock in train companies. - Reply to this comment
- gotta go with donald rumsfield on this: Why are we telling anybody that we found anything; and why are we announcing what we found?

- "The world never saw Osama bin Laden after a videotaped appearance in September 200. Now, however, documents grabbed from his compound reveal that to the very end, bin Laden was still at the core of al Qaeda's operations, and dreaming of new attacks against America."
Considering the intensity of bin Laden influence at the core of al Qaeda operations, and the "dreaming of new attacks against America", please for God's freaking sake tell me some actual evidence backing up Osama bin Laden's apparent claim of responsibility for 9/11?
Because I'm not hearing that here at all. Just a hell of a lot of posturing around this....
I mean was he just inspired by 9/11 or was he involved? Why is it so hard to reveal, hint or even just come out and say that they found the evidence backing up this claim? - Reply to this comment
- Indeed, derailing Bin Laden before he could strike was a very good deed. Now we have to derail his choo-choo train full of homicidal fanatics before they kill again.

- At some point you're just going to have to trust the FBI to catch them.

- These so called sources need to be found out and prosecuted. I am sure Bradley Manning is lonely and would like a cellmate.
