- Having watched "Uncle Walter" from my youth thru graduate school, I am glad to see that CBS has finally found a legitimate heir with Scott Pelley. His premiere show tonight revealed an understated grace and the voice of experience. I hope to be watching him for years to come.

- Too bad they didn't clone Walter Cronkite when they had the opportunity but at least you finally got a clue about Katie. I really never could get past her voice and that perky look to listen to her recite the news. It hasn't been the same since Walter, sorry.

- I would just like to welcome Mr. Pelley to the evening fray, and to wish him good luck. Tonight I will do something that I have not done in 25 years, and that is to watch the CBS Evening News. My hope is that Scott will take his journalistic obligations seriously, and lead the only objective national newscast being broadcast. I had high hopes for Brian Williams at NBC, but he turned out to be a major disappointment. He, like NASCAR, just keeps turning left. Mr. Pelley has the opportunity to raise the bar over todays agenda driven journalism, I hope he takes it. Given the rapidly changing world in which we live, it would be nice to have a trusted news source to go to on the topics of the day. So I could think and form opinions for myself, instead of being told or deceived into thinking a certain way on an issue. I don't want spin from the left or right, I just want the truth as best as can be reported. I hope there are millions of others out there who wish for the same. I am not overly optimistic, but there is always a chance.

- Scott Pelley is a great choice for the evening news!! I am glad he was picked for the spot. I just hope we don't loose him on 60 minutes. Congrats!!

- Congratulations to Scott Pelley -- I enjoyed certain of the 60_Minutes pieces that were matters of great importance to understanding the Iraq War -- your WHITE HOUSE interview of George W. Bush was essential as far as requiring from him answers that required thinking of that "incurious" Chief Executive (2001-8). I hope that the CBS News will address matters of consequence and leave "scandal/infotainment" to the Jr. High end of Modern Media. Also, no joking, please -- leave that to a professional Comic like Jon Stewart. I detest Brian Williams for his "Comedy" appearances on SitComs/SNL and so forth -- he is a dunderhead. . .

- Yeah, I would just like to say "Good Riddance" to Katie Couric. I would have picked Rita Braver to succeed Couric but having Pelley do the newscast is much better than having Couric do the newscast. CBS News was desperate to have someone well known replace Dan Rather as anchor after the Bush/National Guard fiasco.

- I have nothing against Scott Pelley, but Harry Smith should have had the first shot at the Evening News Anchor. He has earned it!! After what you did to him and how you ruined the morning show, I just hope, and your past history doesn't give me too much hope, that it all works out.

- The majors are all now minor leagues. The vast majority believes not a word they report. They are so slanted that they have lost all trust.
