The guns are a Trojan horse. It's a reason for "us" the US to invade once the violence gets bad enough that it has wiped out all Mexican government control.

That is the only logical explanation I can come up with.
That or the usual one - someone was making some BIG MONEY off of this and didn't care who got killed!

"Since at least 2008"...Yes AT LEAST..This has been going on for at least since 89-91 timeframe. This isn't just ATF policy.

Street rumor among the civil service types is the DEA has done the same thing for a couple of decades as well. Just kind of watch, track...but otherwise not touch..

Not sure a laissez faire policy in federal law enforcement is performing law enforcement at all. What exactly are they doing for us, and so the larger question is, why are we funding them. Why not de-fund and decommission both agencies and roll the funding and resources into the FBI?

What is going to be done about this ? Will Obama come out and condemn the practice/actions of the ATF and launch a full-scale investigation, or cover it up and sweep it under the rug ?

Hidden agenda gun legislation in the U.S. due to uncontrolled guns and violence caused by drug cartels but sold by legitimate gun dealers. Yeah right

Kind of makes you wonder if they allowed explosives to be purchased to see what would get blown up in this country. Wonder if we are allowing the sale of WMD's. Seriously, every ATF manager who supported this action should be (at a minimum) fired. If they can determine whose idea it was, that individual should be tried for crimes against humanity.

"Sources tell CBS News licensed gun dealers often wanted no part of selling to suspicious characters who could be supplying the cartels."

A gun dealer wanted no part of selling guns to these characters yet the ATF wanted to see if they where going to the cartels - how was the ATF going to get the guns back, did they have people posted at the border to stop them if they where going to Mexico? Who are these idiots working for the ATF - I hope Special Agent John Dodson isn't the only one with any common sense. Where any of the ATF taking money from the drug cartels to let this happen.

Wow the ATF providing weapons to the Cartels ,, could there be a Political Agenda here? Legitimate Firearms Dealers Refused to Cooperate! ATF had to Pay dealers to "assist" them!.
Seriously isn't this proof enough that this agency needs to be disbanded and their duties and budget rolled into the FBI

Our ATF has some explaining to do. They have to account to us for their operations. Frankly, I want them executed. There is no forgiveness possible for this grave breach of trust and betrayal against both Americans and Mexicans, who did trust them.
