You finally get an evening news anchor who harkens back to the respectability, saavy, knowledge, and trustworthness of the Cronkite years and you dump him for someone who has no news background, has no knowledge, from a morning show background (Katie Couric). I'm sure Ms. Couric is a fine and nice person, but she hasn't the presence to lead the nation through tragic events (911), large news events (Iraq), or ever displayed the ability to ask the tough questions which a news organization HAVE to ask in order to remain relevant and independant.

I've always loved CBS, but I dispair when the news division becomes "entertainment," and will not be watching the CBS Evening News with Ms. Couric or turning to CBS news when news events occur.

Sorry Katie! But, your past 15 years speaks for itself. Naysayer I'm not. Factual I am.
Fifteen years of insidiousness will not fly on a more aware and informed population as within the nightly news seekers.
I believe nightly news patrons tend to be more of the working class on a regular schedule without becoming brainwashed by skewed 24 hr. "POP" news, which she could get away with in the past.
I have read objectively many comments on this upcoming change of the guard. I think I may be in the majority on this one.
