Ms. Couric will eventually be as competent as the woman on ABC News. she appeared very self concious in her first outing. But it still looks like a morning program. And what is this about...she's being paid ?$15,000,000 and can't figure out how to sign off? Give me a break.

I think Katie was great!! These pseudo-news people like Joe Scarborough who have the audacity to criticize someone who is so far superior than he, make me sick. How would he dare try to critique Katie as an interviewer, when she has done it superbly for years. Who is he anyway, but a has-been politician who toots his own horn, because no one else will. Keep it up, Katie, we love you!

You need to have a meeting with the people that are putting together the news for you to report on and change their actions. Get off of the interviews and start giving us the news. You are a great deliverer but first you need something to deliver. I got more national news from my local station than was offered during your broadcast two broadcasts.

I agree with Joyce but would like to add some additional comments. Katie be yourself..

Here is a daughter,a mom,and the "First Woman To Solo As Anchor". Oh, and by the way widowed at a very young age. Katie, for all the younger women in America this is history. CBS, thank you for breaking the rules. After all this is 2006. Katie you will be analyzed, critized, and encourged. You are paving the way for women in the future. I say this at 47 soon to be 48. As a 10 year old, my father told me I could do and be anything I wanted to be. It didn't matter that I was a girl. I Thank God for him and women like you.

I believe your sign off should include a silent professional gesture.

People who say Couric is all fluff never her saw her interviews after Columbine. I remember her interviewing a teenaged boy who watched his sister die. She was professional during the entire, very difficult, interview.

When CBS announced Couric as the evening anchor I knew she could do the job.

Congratulaions, Ms. Couric.

The evening news does NEED a slightly different perspective. After 2 nights, I have liked the direction the CBS news with Katie is going. I think Katie can provide both very serious news, and more personal stories (like the clicking talents of the blind teenager) equally informative and interesting coverage.
My only concern, at this early point, is that Katie appears to be trying to be, in appearence OVERLY serious. Her signiture smile is missing, even in lighter moments. I hope it's not botox that has made her look so overly serious. I think her talent and expertise, and even personal journies, have brought her this far....she needs to keep in mind why her fans have loved her...and still do.
Love her, but still in analysis, Joyce

Goodnight. See you in the true news tomorrow.

Katie is doing a good job, though she needs to keep totally non-biased herself and in the segments she puts on. If you have a "free speech" on "poor Mexican women" who leave their children to come to the US, you need to have a news piece on how illegal immigration is hurting the U.S. (taking jobs, taking social security money, free medical - etc when U.S. Americans have to work and pay for theirs) on the same night. Charles Shieffer came the closest to being non-biased. Even though Katie herself doesn't go too far left, some of the people she has on may bend that way. KEEP IT NEUTRAL! Dan Rather and Brian Williams tended to put their own opinion spin on the news. We don't need that. We're smart enough to figure things out ourselves - just give us the TRUTH!

Katie Couric seems to be trying to turn the evening news into morning show fluff and BS. I want real news and the reason I avoided watching the Today show with Couric was because of her never-ending and annoying habit of interrupting - just like she did last night with Thomas Freidman. Not to mention her gimmick of asking people to go on line and suggest a sign-off line. Either you have it or you don't, Katie; treat this as serious news or go back from where you came. I will give her another chance or two, but as it stands now - as it always did - I cannot stand watching her and resent the apparent need of CBS to put her legs and spike heels on display.

Great Job Katie! I think you gave your viewers what we wanted to see when you signed on last night were just you. We look forward to having dinner with you now instead of breakfast and wish you luck and top ratings!

Sorry Katie,
If I wanted Entertainment Tonight, or Inside Edition, I would watch them. I wanted the news, instead, it was all fluff. Goodbye CBS News.

Thank you CBS for choosing Katie. I am just concerned about her right eye. Did Katie receive an injury to her eye? I read from others' comments about her eye makeup but I think her eye looks like it has been injured. Please someone clarify this matter for me. Donna

When you consider all the pressure CBS put on Katie Couric and her first broadcast, I was suprised by her coolness when the red light on the camera came on. Great job!!

I did not expect Ed Murrow or David Brinkly, I expected Katie Couric and thats what I got!

Just be yourself Katie, you did not keep your job on that other network for 15 years being anyone else!!

Katie, I watched you today for the first time. You did a wonderful job. I watched you the Today Show, and I'll watch you on CBS. You have sweetest personality and your demeanor is so pleasant. do your thing girl...I'm proud that you're there, America can be some tough customers..sadly not in the areas they should be. Let the negativity roll off your back.. I love to listen to you. A nice ending could be " Until we meet again, Good Night and God Bless "

Katie,
You did a great job and I like the fact that not only do you report the currnet events of the day but feature enlightning stories about Americans who can really inspire us all. It is different, not boring, informative, and not so depressing. By the way, I like your sign off the way it is especially when you say"thanks so much for watching." I really think you mean it! Best wishes and good luck!

From what I see here that most posters that are leaving because of Katie's style of reporting are not being fare. I think that we all need to give Katie a break as she needs to adjust as we all do when we start a new job. I feel that she did a gr8 job first time out and yes there is tweaking that needs to be done and I know she will improve nad reach her height that she is comfortable with soon enough.

So those thinking of leaving or who have left maybe would reconsider and give Katie a chance.

Katie all I can say is welcome to the CBS family and here is hoping for a long relationship with CBS and good luck.
