'CBS Evening News' Anchor Talks With Katie Couric About Life And Career
- Seems that See-BS News doesn't care about the audience that it lost when Dan Rather ran it's reputation as a credible news outlet, right into the toilet.
They blew their chance to regain their credibility by seating a qualified, non-biased, journalist when they replaced Dan Rather with another biased no talent liberal hack.

- Dear Bob,
I watch you every night and every Sunday morning and I was thrilled when you took over for Dan Rather. I cried last night and I cried this morning. I will miss that beautiful smile and your sense of humor. You made me laugh! You were doing such a tremendous job and the public loved you so I don't understand why they brought in Katie. Nothing against her, but I don't understand when they had the best already. You were a joy to watch and you will be truly missed. You are an exceptional human being and your family is truly blessed to have you. God be with you always! - Reply to this comment
- Oh come on! Bob Schieffer was great on the CBS evening news and he was the right person for the job when he was selected. It is true that the person called upon to clean up the mess (Rather's reporting on Mr. Bush's military service) is not the right person to carry the ball after the mess is cleaned up. This is what happened to Mr. Schieffer. He brought credibility back to CBS at a time when they desperately needed it. Now he has done his job. Katie Couric is an excellent choice to replace him. She will bring in a whole new audience and will also help CBS keep their currrent viewers of the evening news. She is superb at her job and I can't wait to watch. I am a former NBC viewer who has now joined the CBS viewing team. Don't fault CBS for making a business decision - and that's all that it was -. It was not personal toward Mr. Schieffer. It's just business folks. Good luck to Bob and Katie alike.

- Mr. Shieffer,
I have watched you from day 1 when you took over
for Dan Rather and every day since...
You are a class act. I am currently reading
your book "This just in" and I love it.
You surely do have a way with words.
I don't understand why they had to bring in
Katie Couric, when you were doing such a fantastic job...they should have let you decide
when you wanted to leave. I wish you the best in the future.

- Bob - for years I was NOT a fan of CBS news - until YOU came along. You DID bring credibility back, and did so with gentleness and humor that did not take away from your intelligent presentations or your respectibility. I'm very sorry to see you go. Thank you for a VERY good job well done. No ill will to Katie, but this change was unecessary. Yet you handled it wonderfully - indeed a "class act," Bob. Thanks again.

- Bob Schieffer is a class guy and a *** good reporter. Rank him up there with Murrow and Cronkite at CBS News.

- Bob, I will sure miss seeing you on the evening news. I was very happy when you stepped in when Dan Rather left. You brought back CBS's credibility. You are a real class act. Will miss getting my news from you. Best wishes.

- Bob is in the same mold as Walter Cronkite, Edward R Murrow, etc., and we will truly miss him! Throughout his career he was there to REPORT the news not MAKE the news. With his departure from the daily news desk there is little respect left for the remaining news broadcasts. As a society we have come to the point that we want news to ENTERTAIN us... or to give us the goreiest... or whatever. News (and the viewers that impact ratings) need to get past this perpetual state of extremeism that they're in... just tell me what is, don't interpret, don't spin, don't do a darned thing. But it is all about ratings and corporate profits... Oh to be able to turn on a newscast and truly KNOW that "that's the way it is".... :-

- Thank you, Mr. Shieffer. You're a class act. Your departure leaves a void in the evening news. You WILL be missed. I've watched the CBS Evening News for years. Never again. The CBS Pretty Boy will do the news for the next couple of nights. Yuk! As to your Gawd awful replacement - No thank you. Mr. Giblson or Mr. Williams, here I come. Good luck.
