I've switched back to CBS Nightly News from Diane Sawyer. I had been in a loyal Bob Schieffer viewer, but switched away from Ms. Couric. I like the news delivered in a straightforward manner without any melodrama. Above all I dislike the anchor imposing him/herself in the story by reporting live from the scene. Keep up the good work. Scott, I am wishing you the on-air longevity of Walter Cronkite.

What the hell does Bob S. know about being homeless. He is an idiot. That shows he probally doesn't know anything about the Civil Rights Movement.

Mr. Pelley:
When you showed the deficit pie chart 20% of that debt was Social Security. Social Security should not be on the table because Social Security hasn't contributed 1 cent to the deficit that we face today, nor 1 cent to any of the national debt, the $14.3 trillion.
Every day an American works, when he or she pays a FICA tax out of the paycheck, it's going to Social Security and Medicare. Why when it's a paid for system is it showing as a deficit.

Scott, I have read Mr. Lincoln's Gettysburg address 100 times. it is one of the best speeches ever. I paraphrased it for today.

Eleven score and 7 years ago, our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a number of battles around the globe and at home, testing once again, whether that nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. Over the years we have dedicated many hollowed grounds to hold the remains of those who gave their lives so this nation might live. It has been altogether fitting that we should do this.
And although we have dedicated, consecrated and hollowed those grounds, we perhaps dishonor those brave men and women who actually consecrated those grounds with their lives. The world has learned nothing from their sacrifice and that of our allies. The world has noted and remembered what they did, but aggressors continue to invade and fight, many times not even knowing their own purpose. So we must again dedicate ourselves, the living, to the unfinished work which they who fought at Gettysburg, and Iwo Jima, the Bulge, Korea, Saigon and the Middle East to complete their work. We absolutely must resolve that they did not die in vain and that every American understands and values that sacrifice and that this great nation, which has withstood the test of time, under God, shall once again have a new birth of freedom. It is now a documented fact that government of the people, by the people, for the people, SHALL NOT PERISH FROM THIS EARTH. God Bless America.

Dear Mr. Pelley,

I've enjoyed watching your reports on "60 Minutes". Best wishes on your new anchor position. It appears that CBS News may be getting back to sober, fact-based, unbiased reporting. ;-)

I am wondering whether you'll be able to do a story about what it means to be a "natural born citizen" in the United States? It certainly is an important topic, with the Constitution being the foundational bedrock of our Country.

Thanks for you consideration!

In tonight's broadcast, Scott Pelley mispronounced the name of San Diego's neighbor to the south. The nane Tijuana has only two syllables: ti-juana, not three ti-a-juana. This is a common error and Scott's help in correcting it would be appreciated.

Mr. Pelley has won me back to CBS NEWS after many years. He has that Cronkitesque quality. As long as he continues to give me "just the facts" and saves his opinions for other venues, he can lead CBS back to their formed glory years and restore them to the tiffany network.

Great News Show on Fathers Day. Stories about Blackstone Bicycles was good and the story about Raul Diaz and Homeboy was outstanding. If I knew how, I would share both of these stories with my students.

After watching for a few days I believe this is the best evening news program on TV. I started watching when I read that CBS New had only 2 minutes of coverage on the Rep. Weiner story. I hoped that meant we had a serious broadcast to watch. I am not dissapointed. Scott Pelley is doing a great job, the stories are fast but thorough and so far it is covering stories that not every other news show is covering. I don't know who the editors and producers are, but Good Work.... I'm a new and faithful viewer.
