- I watch scot pelley and he reeks of war. He has a war mentality, looks like he wants war so he can keep getting the thrill of covering it.He is a news warrior- going to the battlefield as if it was the only honorable place to be. when the former commander in afghan. says the war is a waste, a joke, a disaster, another example of american ignorance and hyprocrisy and Pelley glorifies it, its too much to take.
so I choose brian williams even though he seems to want to be in show business, at least he doesn't reek of war. walter cronkite is spinning in his grave. - Reply to this comment

- Hey, THANKS, Evening News for posting that disturbingly graphic photo of the homeless man who was beaten in Cali. No warnings that the photo was coming, and our kids sat there and saw it. How about a nice little "The following story contains graphic images?" Would that BE SO DIFFICULT?? Ugh.

- OK, lets dig into Rick Perry's background. Fair enough, and exactly what a major news organization should do.
But where is the investigation into Obama's background? We are not even sure that is his real name!!! You have never reported how he "bought" a huge house in Chicago, how he got into expensive schools, how he graduated without diplomas, why he could be Harvard Law Review and never publish a paper...
CBS news failed to vet that presidential candidate-- while digging exhaustively into McCain and Palin. You got him elected. That is shameful-- and actually illegal since you purport to be a news organization and not a fully paid branch of the DNC.

- ReGarding the story on oxycodone. While i concede there are unethical pharmacies and pharmacists, you did not address the issue of where the individual got the presciption.

- Mr. Pelley I use to watch another network news but when you came on board I thought I would see if you were different from the other network anchors. I have enjoyed your pieces you have done from all over the world. However, you coverage recently on the high cost of gasoline even though the price of oil has dropped makes me think you are going to be just like all the other news anchors.
Your "Transportation Expert" said it was probably because the gas stations probably lost money because they probably didn't raise their prices as fast as they should because they felt bad for the consumers. I give you credit for not laughing when the cut back to you.
Again tonight you did a piece on the price of gas being higher than it was last year even though the price of oil is lower than it was last year. According to analyst it is because world wide demand is higher. Again you didn't even snicker.
Every year we go through this high price of gasoline cycle and I am amazed that your people can't find one person to tell you why it happens. If they had a brain of their own they wouldn't need to ask anyone they should be able to figure it out for themselves.
I have known from the get go why the prices go up every year and the oil companies report increases in their profits from the year before.
I am going to tell you what you need to figure out the answer. All you need is a calender. Every year a couple of weeks before spring break/easter vacation the price of gas starts going up. If you check your files you probably did a story on it. I am sure it said it was because of high demand, slower production or trouble in the Middle East. It also says the "Experts/Analyst" say they don't exspect the prices to come down before September.
Now read this slowly, the prices go up in the spring because that is the start of the travel season in America. It doesn't go down until after Labor Day, which is in September, and kids are back in school thus ending the travel season. The only kicker is they never go down below where the were in the spring. Next year they will go higher and the oiler companies will report an increase of $60 billion dollar in profit over last year.
Why don't you investigative reporter report that? I wonder who either owns you or pays your salary? I am disappointed in you and CBS. Don't know if I will keep watching you or any network news. Do you have to turn in your brains at the reception desk when you come into the home office?

- I'm so tired of hearing the Republican candidates bad mouth the president every day. Is there any news in hearing that Mitt Romney or Rick Perry think the president is doing a lousy job? No. Do we really have to listen to this for the next 14-15 months? How about asking these gentlemen what they would do differently and why? Let's hear from experts and educators with ideas. Let's hear from people who have studied and written about economics, finance, diplomacy, or international law in scholarly periodicals debate domestic and foreign policy. That would be interesting news.

- I have a complaint about tonight's broadcast. Three times during the broadcast Scott Pelley addressed the president as Mr. Obama instead of respectful President Obama. When did he stop being the president. It is uncalled for and disappointing that someone in the public eye who is providing me a service is totally disrespectful. Please grow up.

- Why do newscasters say the word "troops" when they speak of an indiviidual in the line of duty? Troops means a group of individuals - always has, always will.
1. an assemblage of persons or things; company; band.
2. a great number or multitude: A whole troop of children swarmed through the museum.
3. Military . an armored cavalry or cavalry unit consisting of two or more platoons and a headquarters group.
4. troops, a body of soldiers, police, etc.: Mounted troops quelled the riot.
5. a unit of Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts usually having a maximum of 32 members under the guidance of an adult leader. - Reply to this comment
