Andy,
I have sent this to Pres Obama, Senator McCain and Sen Mccaskill to no vail.
This is in reference to the stimulus package - maybe the 2nd stimuls package if it comes to pass.

Please give that money to folks making under 100,000 a year. Those folks will go out and spend the money, which in turn will stimulate the economy and save jobs. This is the quickest and easiest solution. Stop giving our tax dollars to the greedy CEOs and banks. Give it to the less fortunate - they will save the economy. Even if Congress just pays off the credit cards, folks would then have money to buy cars etc. I know banks would be mad because they wouldn't get that interest, but they have screwed the consumer for years without any hesitation. Take care of the middle and lower class. It is the right thing to do.

Most sincerely,

A proud American and a Navy Veteran

Thanks Andy for your time. Hope you will be able to get someone's attention with this suggestion.
Carpe` Diem !

The banks didn't screw the consumer, the consumer screwed themselves because they couldnt resist the open cookie jar and took the cookies knowing what the real cost would be.

Dear Mr. Rooney,
First I Love your show,But I wondered if you have a comment on the way GM has handled the IUE-CWA members, as you know they have given UAW health care and EVEN GIVEN health care to CAW (canadian auto workers) but have taken health care away from the American IUE members who have worked 30 plus years for this company, they have striped our health care benefits away from us and the Auto task force has totally ignored our request to meet with them to even discuss this matter with them. Only in America can you work for a company and give them your blood, sweat and tears only to be denied the benifits we were promised. The hard things to listen to is the Auto task force say there is no commerical necessity in picking us up since there are very few active memebers. And the GM attorney Harvey MIller saying that are union's arguments were just mere "ENVY" of the UAW benefits. "ENVY" of what we were promised and deserve. I thought this might make an interesting commintary for you. I know there are a lot of Gm union haters out there however, this could happen to any one of us who works for a company that promised you retiree benefits. Thank you C. Short

Dear Mr. Rooney,
I have watched 60 minutes for many years.
There is one problem; I wish you could occasionaly be wrong,
because every Sunday evening, I always agree with you 100 percent.
However, you always put the cap on the show

Us RV'rs would love to have such a license. The idea has been kicked around for some time, but nothing done.
Not only is it a hassle to get the license as dieseljimi says, but is very costly for traveling seniors on fixed incomes.
A one time charge with minimal yearly renewal charge would work fine, and all states would benifit.

This country including the MEDIA for once needs to wake-up and ask themselves why so much pleasure is derived from continuous dirt, and negative unproven allegations that have to continually be such a focus following the death of Michael Jackson. Why doesn?t THE MEDIA step-up to the plate and get real or is money and greed the driving force here at any cost. Why doesn?t CNN step up, why don?t you send a message, set the stage and make ?a change?.
MAKE A CHANGE
As a 52 year old female, CEO of the Better Business Alliance. I am touched by the death of Michael Jackson, his music is the best music of all time. You can combine all the top musicians in the world and still never match-up to this wonderful man.
Michael Jackson is not and never was in any capacity a molester. He never molested any child, pure ignorance.
Tell the world this; no court system in this country is going to allow for any child molester regardless of their fame to walk free. No court system, including regulatory authorities such as child services is going to allow for children to be under his care, every criminal prosecutor in this country would drool with venom to prosecute any child molester.
It is absurd to continue to remind AMERICA of something that was never proven because it NEVER HAPPENED.
AN innocent MAN-CHILD WHO NEVER HAD A CHILDHOOD, who had a father driven by control and greed at any cost including abuse. I too, would try to re-capture my childhood and try to live it or play it out. I would invite little girls over for Sleep over?s, slumber parties call it what you want, and yes I would let them sleep in my bed, I may even cuddle each one of them. Cuddle, not fondle. Then what? Oh yes I forgot I am worth millions. OPEN, REAL & VULNERABLE that?s who Michael Jackson really is - then one greedy family sets-up Michael Jackson by baiting their very own child for their own financial gain. What mother or father would settle for large sums of money at the expense of their child who was molested? What parent would allow for a child molester to walk and ignore the very damaging long term effects that a molested child would have to endure. Do you really think millions of dollars is going to wash away the long term despair, pain, depression, uncertainty, and other damaging affects that plaque every molested child.
Let me exercise my Freedom of Speech. Show me, broadcast it, tell the WORLD, where is this supposed molested child now, who has been his therapist, what kind of car is he driving, I mean tell the world just how much suffering has this child encountered. NONE, IT NEVER HAPPENED, TELL THE WORLD AND MAKE A CHANGE, LET THIS MAN GO IN PEACE AND LET THE WORLD HELP HIM REST PEACEFULLY. CLEAN IT UP. AND DO WHATS RIGHT. DO IT NOW. WE ARE THE WORLD AND YOU CAN MAKE IT A BETTER PLACE.

Dear Mr. Rooney,
Thank you for writing "My War." I just finished it. I was compelled to read it because two very dear friends of mine are both WWII vets. She was a resident of Great Britain, he an American soldier. She wrote her biography and I read it and urged her to try and find a publisher. But she claims she did it for family and friends. Your book was so personal, I felt the same way. I feel like I saw more through your words than through countless history books. I hope you enjoy your time off this summer and I hope you continue to write. Best Wishes - Susan

someone should push for a National Fishing Liscence for seniors over the age of 65. it's alway's a hassle going to another state and having to hunt down a place to buy a liscence and some are very expensive.
thank you Jim

Mr. Rooney -
I am commenting on today's column "It's that time of year, again".
From time to time I've read similar artices, basically telling us that life has been good to you. You've been very fortunate. Those who love you are happy for you. You are not ashamed of the happiness your gifts bring you, nor need be.
But why publish this article? Send it to your family instead.
You should be ashamed of being insensitive to those not so fortunate, especially given this financial climate. The family joke - "I wonder what the less fortunate people are doing tonight"- you should be ashamed.

Andy- I love your eyebrows. Don't change a thing about your appearance. Thank you for your common sense and honesty on your share of the CBS 60 Minute program. I rush through my dinner every Sunday evening to make sure I catch your segment of 60 minutes. I want it first hand; not copied. I am a quilter. I would make a special pillow for you if you wish. Hi Andy,
I just watched your segment on mail. All I want to say is don't change a thing about yourself. I like everything about you, eyebrows and all. You have done many segments that I agree with you 100% on, for instance, I loved the one about packaging. There is so much stuff you have to take off things before you get to them and what a waste! That is just one that comes to mind, but I've been watching you for many many years and I like everything about what you have to say and I agree with all of it.
Sincerely,
Jeannine Bush

at work and shouldn't be thinking about Andy Rooney - BUT ..... i just saw a Smart Car in the parking lot ...haven't seen it before .... well - it is windy today .... can you ask Andy to do a follwow-up on the SMART Car ... Need to know if they come with locators for afternoons with gusts up to 15mph - or if I should call the local authorities - so that they can start looking for the owner. It looks kinda like a pet astray.

This is only somewhat related to this story as I was going to send this letter but I thought I'd try to e-mail it instead. Anyway - I have been forwarded thet following spam e-mail and wanted to know if it really came from Andy Rooney. I think it's a good piece and agree with quite a bit of it but still want to know if it's legitimate or not as I would not like to attribute the text. Also, my mother tends to send me very fanatical e-mails similar to this and I do so cherish letting her know when it's propaganda. Really, I'm not a bad child - just an independant voter in a far right household. Thanks so much!!

Spammed e-mail text: "Andy Rooney said on '60 Minutes' a few weeks back: I don't think being a minority makes you a victim of anything except numbers. The only things I can think of that are truly discriminatory are things like the United Negro College Fund, Jet Magazine, Black Entertainment Television, and Miss Black America. Try to have things like the Un ited Caucasian College Fund, Cloud Magazine, White Entertainment Television, or Miss White America; and see what happens...Jesse Jackson will be knocking down your door. Guns do not make you a killer.. I think killing makes you a killer. You can kill someone with a baseball bat or a car, but no one is trying to ban you from driving to the ball game. I believe they are called the Boy Scouts for a reason, which is why there are no girls allowed. Girls belong in the Girl Scouts! ARE YOU LISTENING, MARTHA BURKE ? I think that if you feel homosexuality is wrong, it is not a phobia, it is an opinion. I have the right 'NOT' to be tolerant of others because they are different, weird, or tick me off. When 70% of the people who get arrested are black, in cities where 70% of the population is black, that is not racial profiling; it is the Law of Probability. I believe that if you are selling me a milkshake, a pack of cigarettes, a newspaper or a hotel room, you must do it in English! As a matter of fact, if you want to be an American citizen, you should have to speak English! My father and grandfather didn't die in vain so you can leave the countries you were born in to come over and disrespect ours. I think the police should have every right to shoot you if you threaten them after they tell you to stop. If you can't understand the word 'freeze' or 'stop' in English, see the above lines. I don't think just because you were not born in this country, you are qualified for any special loan programs, government sponsored bank loans or tax breaks, etc., so you can open a hotel, coffee shop, trinket store, or any other business. We did not go to the aid of certain foreign countries and risk our lives in wars to defend their freedoms, so that decades later they could come over here and tell us our constitution is a living document; and open to their interpretations. I don't hate the rich; I don't pity the poor. I know pro wrestling is fake, but so are movies and television. That doesn't stop you from watching them. I think Bill Gates has every right to keep every penny he made and continue to make more. If it ticks you off, go and invent the next operating system that's better, and put your name on the building. It doesn't take a whole village to raise a child right, but it does take a parent to stand up to the kid and smack their little behinds when necessary, and say 'NO!' I think tattoos and piercing are fine if you want them, but please don't pretend they are a political statement. And, please, stay home until that new lip ring heals. I don't want to look at your ugly infected mouth as you serve me French fries! I am sick of 'Political Correctness.' I know a lot of black people, and not a single one of them was born in Africa ; so how can they be 'African-Americans'? Besides, Africa is a continent. I don't go around saying I am a European-American because my great, great, great, great, great, great grandfather was from Europe. I am proud to be from America and nowhere else. And if you don't like my point of view, tough ...

Mr. Rooney,
This is not related to this story but a very good friend of mine, is an avid
fan and boater. He knows the stories of your desk, pencil holder, underwood and
your Austin Healy. He also owns a Mahogany Wooden boat. My question is
Does the boat in the picture you have on the back shelf have a story? If so
could you share it with us? Thanks!

Hi Andy,
I do watch 2020 faithfully and fully enjoy this hour every Sunday. However, I need to admit my favorite part is your few minutes at the end. I truly missed you and considered boycoting watching this show when they "suspended" you.

Please keep up the great work; You really make my week EVERY week :-)

Dear Mr. Rooney,
I was inquiring about a story you did a few months ago about a drug that was showing promise for diabetes and cancer and several other things.
I was inquiring on the video commentary I was going to let someone see it but was unable to find on the 60 min site. I know it was bought and hushed by Glaxo-Smith/Kline for use as a possible cancer drug and the owners paid sufficiently to stop research you in your way added at the end of the segment. Atleast thats the way I see anything that a drug company buys out as a way to protect itself.
Anyway could you please send me this link. If possible I would like to see it again and show it to a friend. I was also curious if GSK was sincerely using the drug or have they managed to manipulate into a hazardous material yet that kills while it cures.
