Andy Rooney Tackles The Issue Of Chronically Delayed Flights

- Your problem is that you''re usually going the wrong way. I recently flew from Washington Dulles to London Heathrow and back on Virgin Atlantic. Going over, the flight was 15 minutes early. Coming back, the arrival time was spot on schedule. On top of that, they served meals(!) both ways and the economy class seats in the A340 were quite comfortable. For as long as I can remember, US airlines have operated in the red, which is something I don''t understand. What I do understand is the airways system is extraordinarily complex. If it''s snowing in New York, aircraft in LA can''t take off, so delays aren''t always the fault of the airlines.

- well mr rooney i''m glad you have such a good grasp of how things change, you noted flight attendants, i remember when newsmen and or commentators were fair, honest, and intelligent, It would be wonderful to live in the world when you paid a comprehensible fair for the service provided- america wanted walmart and they got it ,they are not payng for bloomingdales anymore

- In addition to that-airport restaurants, souvenier shops, cabbies, baggage handlers tips tips tips,-I know people wil be affected, but what is it going to take for the regular everyday person to be heard. Piolets can go on strike, kitchen staff, all kinds of people, but what about those buying the service? Greed is always at the bottom of things for big business... so maybe the public can save the price of an airline ticket, and then the big guy will lose many purchases, and in turn provide a better service. Look at what Walmart has done to this country, taken away family businesses, farm lands and ruined so many wholesome family opportunities to continue the business, but now all they got was corporate America buy from CHINA business. Thanks Andy

- Good For you Mr. Rooney -I agree a thousand percent-but why wait- look at all teh back lash, ripple effects, gas, oil, food, tickets sales, etc. I tried to do this on line telling people to please as of April fiRSt one day a month do not purcHAse any gas. The first Friday of each month. It can be done also with airlines,WHY WAIT???? excuse errors, chubby fingers.
Thank you I love listening to you-you after all make sense.

- come on Andy, lets get real! You don''t have a clue. Pilots always tell why your just sitting there, their is a take off order! You make no sense. A walk out by customers would only hurt airline employees and yes customers. Get it right!!!!
