Mr. Rooney,
I don not watch your show often, at least 7 years since I've listen to your chatter. I can't believe "how low" you have stooped since the last time I saw your non-political reporting on things as simple as mom's home baked bread (I made that on up, my memory of your reporting does not stand out in my mind). All that I do know CBS ought to kick you the air for your political tirade about the president who was elected by the people (obviously not yours) two times. Be a real reporter and post that poll about Americans desire to leave Iraq b/4 we send a message to the terrorist. Then feel free to report on that, but not until, for we should'nt have to watch you to hear your opinion.
P.S. You should have watched the 60 Minutes evening show earlier about the Kurds and their liberation.
A Florian & Proud.

For those of you bashing Rooney-
I don't beleive he personally suggested many of the things you are accusing. He simply stated a question. People need to really think before jumping to conclusions. If we all lived in a perfect world then asking the sort of questions Mr. Rooney asks would seem foolish and unnecessary....but oh wait, we don't live in a perfect world. I commend Mr. Rooney for asking questions that probe into issues and make people think about those issues. If you're a person completely satisfied with the current state of the USA, then sit back and enjoy the ride, if not....maybe you have some ideas to make this country a better place to live. I for one will not mock someone for a suggestion.

Andy is right,
Pennies are not economical. They cost 1.7 cents each to make.
As for the other questions, they should be voted on.
All Americans may support that the troops on the ground need additional resources including equipped reinforcements, and agree that immigrants are part of the irreplaceable workforce.

It's amazing just how many folks don't agree with others right of dissent. I wish there were a way to limit the presidents power. This presidents has made some disasterous choices for this country and he doesn't seem to care what anyone has to say about it.
Democracy?! no we don't have one and if things remain as is we never will have.

Fortunately for Andy he lives in the United States and can freely express his opinions. More fortunately for us we recognize they are just his opinions. Should we have voted on World Wars 1 and 2, how about the Korean War? Maybe we should be voting on keeping bushy eye browed old folks on television, equally as disturbing as IQ registration. Andy we expect better from you.

Andy,

Why don't you just ask this question

Should American not have a Military?
I bet many Americans would vote Yes - does this make it right.

My god I hate CBS News

17 out of 20 felony charges in our paper last week were hispanic. Our town is not immigration, it is illegals terrifying the elderly to the young while in school. I am so tired of paying taxes, and just when you think you're out of the woods, BAM 6 more schools for illegal Mexican citizens. WHY?

Andy,
Time to Retire.

I was unfortunate to see Andy while waiting for Amazing Race to come on.

Who writes this stuff for him, does he even red before he does his 4mins on the show??

Ok so he wants us to vote if we'd take $700.00 to cut all over seas milatary activity.

NO Rooney I would not take the check - the sacrifice would be to great. Why not tell Americans what this could mean if we did this. Mr. Rooney you live a great life making lots of money , so enjoy your rich life style but please don't sacrafice the freedoms all Americans enjoy.

Foolish man!!

Bush has let this country be sold off to everyone. All of our trade secrets that we took a hundred years to develop are gone. All our integrity, our schools, our hospitals, all in the name of the elite. Everything has been for the elite, nothing for the poor or middle class except paying for the illegals.

Maybe we should vote on more issues as a public. With the technology we have now days a vote could be cast quite easily. I do have another idea I would like to share. Here goes...Lets get all of our elected officials to take a mandatory survey, ranging from issues on this war we are fighting to problems facing our local communities right down to the problems in smaller ones...drugs, disaster aid, education, agriculture, etc. Then after, and only after they have all completed the survey...let the general public take the survey without knowing the results from our elected officials. Then compare. If they answer truthfully maybe we could guage how well we are being represented. Maybe if we feel an official is not representing us as desired we should be able to fire him by voting him out of office by the end of the month. Obviously there are quircks with these suggestions, but wouldn't it be nice to feel in control for once?

Andy Rooney is outdated. We elected George Bush and he is our President. Stand up and be proud. Stop sitting and whining like babies- Andy Rooney, this means you too.If you remember correctly, at all, Americans stood behind President Bush when we went to war. Can you remember the percentages? They were high and the Democrats voted to go too. So wake up I say, and get with the program. Quit snivveling and snotting around. Thank you.

Mr. Rooney,
I believe that the American tax payers (voters) should get a chance to vote on some issues such as the illegal immigration and welfare. I read an article recently where a fellow tax payer was recommending that people drawing government checks (welfare) be subjected to drug testing since most of the tax payers that are paying for the welfare have to undergo drug testing just to earn the money they pay taxes on.

"The reality is....." Andy Rooney is nothing but a one of the media that has caused nothing but trouble to this nation. Why didn't you let us really vote on your stupid questions. We, as the nation, did elect George W. Bush to be our commander-in-chief and as a nation we should respect that he was elected and we will stand by him, or give our individual concerns to our representatives.....not those of you in the media that can sway the people of this nation that don't really have an opinion before listenting to media like YOU!!!! Get off your soap box and move on to uplifting subjects. But, I guess someone like you can't even think of anything uplifting!!!!!

Voting on everything would not be a totally bad idea. Military actions however should be left to the Presient, his staff, and somewhat to Congress. I do believe that it is wrong that Congress has the ability to propose, vote, and pass legislature for their own pay. That vote should be put to the American people.

Mr. Rooney was only half right when he suggested that voters must pass an IQ score of 80 to vote. What does he suggest the IQ threshold be set at in order to run for office?
