Here's my Vote:
Troops out immediately AGREE
325,000 troops outside the US? Bring them Home? AGREE
What are we? The Roman Empire? Why do we need soldiers anywhere except our OWN Nation? That's just nuts.
Pennies? Dump um! Come on, It's time
The IQ thing? Disagree If you are lucid enough to drive on a freeway you can vote.
DUMP THE ELECTORL COLLEGE? ABSOLUTELY!
GORE is our ELECTED President!
Stop all Legal Immigration? NO! We have lots of room but only for LEGAL Immigrants.
My last point here is: Stop ALL Killing!
Aren't we a Moral Nation? Didn't God say: "Thou SHALL NOT KILL? ALL Life is precious. Let's TALK out our differences Live and Let Live, for goodness sake people, get a life! It makes NO Sense to Bomb 160,000 innocent Iraqee people . How can Bush sleep at night knowing he caused all those deaths to occur?

I can't believe that you would put a question about IQ and the right to vote in the same category as questions of public policy, such as the war in Iraq or immigration. The last I knew, the Constitution offered the same rights and protections to all people, regardless of abilities or disabilities. You do believe in the Constitution, don't you??? As it is, people with cognitive disabilities are the largest disenfranchised group of people in this country. They are also the most vulnerable to public policy. This is a disgrace and your question is incredibly offensive.

Perhaps we should not let anyone vote who is under 5 feet 2 inches or who is older than 70 (after all, they might be senile)or who has less than 20/20 vision. There is certainly no evidence that because a person has an IQ of 140, that they are going to make an intelligent choice at the polls.

My son has a cognitive disability, but he listens intently to the candidates and gives careful thought to his choices. He has his own opinions and he takes his responsibility to vote very seriously. Far, far too many of his non-disabled peers don't even bother to vote. And my mother, a former school teacher, picks her candidates based on criteria such as "I can't stand his looks."

The other questions you posed are issues that policy makers or the general publuc, must decide. The question of who gets to vote was decided by our Founding Fathers long ago. Thank God our society CANNOT vote on this issue.

Andy has just hit the nail on the head. On ALL of the Most Important Issues, the American People "SHOULD" be allowed to cast a vote. Of course it should be restricted to those who are here legally, but wouldn't this be a true Democracy with instant results? Think of it, if this system had been in place we wouldn't be in this mess now in Iraq. Think of the joy we would all have if we could instantly vote on all the important issues. Maybe 60 Minutes should do an actual VOTE! Go ahead and register as many as would like to participate on secure ID and let's have the ACTUAL VOTE that Andy proposed tonight,
what do ya say CBS? Want to start something big?
Catch the ball that Andy just threw and let's make a touchdown for America!.

It would be interesting if we all voted on the issues that come up before Congress.
Why not?! We certainly have the means. A secured government website; user ids that would be voter registration ids; express our opinions at the federal, state and local government level.
We are now expressing our opinions on the id secured website!
Of course, you would need a more refined method like agree, disagree, agree with exception, disagree with exception and maybe more detailed questions.
With today's technology very little is impossible.

Dear jwrjjr: You're right. We need to let our Representatives know that we aren't happy with our 'Commander in Chief' or as some of us think about it when we vote, our 'President'. Oh, yeah, we did didn't we? And it crossed party lines. And the idea that media is directing this event? Well the talk shows are filled with your kind and apparently it's only swaying people like you. Read our last elections. The people have clearly spoken against your war. 70% by the by. Perhaps you should re-read the constiution.

Andy Rooney is the main reason I watch 60 Minutes. On bringing our troops home I vote yes,
but only cut the military 25%.
On immigration....stop it now.
The IQ Test for voters should be 70%....there are
a lot of dumb voters out there.

Andy Rooney, your continuous ranting against our president and his administration is insulting to your viewers. Why doesn't CBS insist you go back to your "homely" observations about kitchen gadgets and such? I see I'm not alone in how I feel after reading others' comments in this poll. I can't wait to see if CBS will ACURATELY report the results, or if they'll slant it in your favor. When are you and CBS going to figure out why your audience is disappearing? It's time to retire old man, and remember, you did yourself in. We're fighting a war on terror and persons like you are helping the enemy.

Thanks again Andy! Yes on bringing the troops back immediately; I vote for peace and how about if The History Channel talked about those who won and win the Nobel Peace Prize instead of War Stories; yes on no vote with I.Q. under 80; this isn't a popularity contest (oh, yes, I forgot, Bush got in because more people wanted to have a beer with him than with Gore; oops, actually more people voted for Gore didn't they...hummm; immigrants? let em all in as long as they aren't collecting benefits and free medical. Then they would come for the right reason; because they love and want to improve this country! Because, P.S., why should they have more benefits than the rest of us hard working Americans? And why does Bilingual mean that you can speak another language but your English can be marginal? And on and on. Oh, and by the by dear 'my family are war heroes', isn't it a little embarrassing that we still don't know how to talk instead of fight? I would kill if my children were in danger. But I wouldn't kill everyone possibly related to the guy in the next town who opened fire on his neighbors. It makes no sense whatsoever. Keep on keeping on Andy. You are delicious and nutritious.

First of all, IQ tests are intrinsically biased and have been demonstrated to have low validity, so basing anyone's right to vote on such arbitrary scores is just foolish. Second, an IQ score of 80 is approximately one standard deviation below the mean, meaning that, on average, 18% of the population of voters in our country would be unable to vote with the proposed standard. As for the war, someone commented that Clinton was the one who got us into this? Give me a break! What happened to the president who made the choice to go to war?? Don't you think he might have a little more responsibility than a guy who had an affair...with a woman...in THIS country? While cutting the military in half isn't the answer, let's try to be a little more objective when we're making important decisions. Clearly, THAT is what got us into trouble in Iraq in the first place.

I have an idea. Lets vote to see if Andy Rooney should be allowed to continue on 60 minutes. My guess is we would no longer have to listen to his inane liberal comments anymore. Of course the IQ over 80 rule would keep Andy out of the vote

Oh my gosh...I don't normally comment, but had to on this Andy Rooney commentary. First of all, with the danger in the world due to terrorist (that HATE us) what is Andy thinking?? Cutting the military is ridiculous. It would cost so much more to beef it up once we realize the mistake, not to mention a $700 feel good to displace all these employeed people. Did you think about that ANDY!!! Did it occur to you the repercussions of all those unemployeed people that thought they had decided on their career path? You are a creep to even hypothetically put this out and pander to the greedy that would do anything to reap a profit. Shame on you! Commenting on Iraq...we must win...

Should we close our borders to all immigrants??Let's see our hospitals are closing because of non payments by illegals, for the first time in about 50 years tuberculosis is back, we cant find jobs without being bilingual, our tax dollars are being spent to build more schools so that the illegals can DEMAND to be able to speak their own language, fly their own flag, have their own culture:also lets not forget about our tax dollar to build more jails because most of the violent crimes are now from illegals..let's just get rid of the ones that are here illegally NOW,and in about 100 years when we may have paid off this huge debt, maybe we can once more take in legal ones.WAKE UP AMERICA..or should we change our name to AMERICIO????

I get so tired of the media and hollywood celebs using the public airwaves as their own personal soapboxes. I don't get to say what I think. That's why I have a vote. I am sick of hearing "the majority of Americans . . .," when it's those that are polled. No one has called me and if they did, they'd hang up because I didn't answer the way they think I should. I thank God that the media doesn't have full run of this country yet, though you have way too much. Start giving us the news and stop giving your opinion.
You won't like my answers. I come from a family of war heros. I want to live in my own country and be free. I don't want any lives lost in the fight for freedom to be in vain which is what will happen if we run like cowards.
Sure, let's bring all the soldiers home. How long do you think it will take for us to be a conquered nation?
Stop whining and start being an American. This country was built on blood and tears not cut and run.

The only reason I watched Andy tonight is because the programs were running late. To bad CBS doesn't post his commentary word for word. He said America would not have voted for invading Iraq. In fact, members of Congress provided their support and the American people were in support of the invasion.

Elect our leaders more often than every 4 years? What we don't need is more of what we have today, members of Congress changing their minds every time the going gets a little tough or every time they want to run for office.

People don't vote in elections today, why does he think people would go out of their way to provide input to their representatives? Better yet, why not pass a law that would require everyone of legal age to study the issues and to vote in every election.

I have a better idea than Andy. We should require that TV commentators take IQ tests. I don't think Andy would have been on TV tonight if he had to score 80 on an IQ test.

We have many things to fix in this country and in the world. It's time our elected officials begin to make decisions that are best for us and to stop worrying about how they are going to get elected for their next ego trip.

If you were running for president, I WOULDN'T vote for you. We do NOT need to cut our military. With less military, we'd not be able to maintain current lifestyle.

Like one lady said, if we drug tested those who receive public assistance (and denied funds to those who imbibe), we could save FAR MORE than if we cut our military.

Did you think Clinton was a good president?? Had Clinton not ignored Iraq's threats our country might not be where we are today,,In Iraq! Seems like his mind was on his intern not his country! I understand that these are your opinions but your opinions STINK!!!This is my opinion!!!

I vote no to having to sit through 60 minutes for an extra 30 minutes every week. I hate waiting an extra half an hour to watch Amazing Race. I understand if we were talking about something important here but there did not need to be a segment on Kenny Chesney. He isn't news. The one night I have to relax and watch something entertaining and I have to miss half of another show because Amazing Rae is on late as a result of a stupid segment on 60 minutes that lasts 3o minutes late.

We should vote too many things or we will be as same as Dictator ruled country, don't even get me started. Forexample :I work 12 hours a day, when I started this job I took a drug test, why can't the Government ask or take drug test before they give the Tax payers money to the people who get welfare for years
